Defense Secretary shares advice on 'how to avoid ICE'

Pete Hegseth has posted a graphic on X of an ICE officer and a series of instructions for "how to avoid ICE". They are listed as "don't be here illegally", "don't attack ICE officers", and "obey federal and state laws".

He also linked back to another post earlier in the night in which he wrotethat the "patriots" of ICE are "saving the country", saying "we have your back 100%."

"Shame on the leadership of Minnesota - and the lunatics in the street", he wrote.

My understanding is that people are taking to the streets since ICE/CBP are grabbing people without due process. I thought they were focused on criminals, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Imagine seeing your neighbors, friends, colleagues, fellow students, etc. being roughed up by masked people with guns. Often these people are grabbed, rough housed and detained, only to be let go later when they hadn't broken any law. Or in some cases, we don't know what became of them. In normal law enforcement family knows where the person is and what charges the person is held under. Not so with ICE/CBP. And most of these agents are recently hired with bonuses related to how many people they grab. So much for law and order. JMO.

Hey Everyone.
I really appreciate you following Websleuths rules.
This is very upsetting. We must rely on our own eyes to judge what happened in this tragic shooting.
While I understand the intense emotion behind what happened today I am asking you to please refrain from name-calling. This is for both sides. Do not call the victim names, do not call ICE agents names. By refraining from name-calling we can keep the thread from spiraling out of control.
Keep discussing the facts.
Again, I greatly appreciate your participation

I feel insulted every time Noem opens her mouth, and I am not even American.
As viewers of all the videos available online, we are expected to believe what we are told by the "regime", despite the truth being clearly in front of our very eyes.
It's like living in a badly directed dystopian movie.
An army of lawless masked men can harass, detain, threaten, rape and kill...yet a police officer can't even do a traffic stop without a valid reason. I see a double standard here.
And protesters are the terrorists apparently.

I am sickened and saddened for what Americans are going through. And even more sickened by the fact that so many choose to be blind to it and defend this "regime".
If they went after violent criminals, the worst-of-the-worst as promised, there would be no protests.

Wait, what? Bondi is asking MN for its voter rolls. From the letter she sent Gov Walz, she wants MN to:

Allow the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division to access Minnesota’s voter rolls to confirm the state’s voter registration policies comply with federal law.

Literal extortion.

Senior MAGA figures have been blasted by their fellow conservatives and even the National Rifle Association for quickly declaring that the Department of Homeland Security's killing of a protester in Minneapolis was justified.

Woah, even the DM is coming out swinging. You lose the DM, you've lost the plot JMO.

Ah, so it was never about immigration? Noted.

"A federal judge in Minnesota has granted a temporary restraining order blocking federal agencies from destroying or altering evidence related to the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by a federal agent in Minneapolis.

US District Judge Eric Tostrud issued an order on Saturday evening barring federal defendants – including the Department of Homeland Security and federal immigration agencies – from destroying or altering any evidence related to the shooting.

This includes evidence allegedly removed from the scene or taken into exclusive federal custody, the order said."

It's chilling that the fed officials lied today, and it's just as chilling that there are people in the public who defend the lies.

jmo
Without the people lapping up the bs, the officials wouldn’t be in power.

It's legal with a permit to open carry in Minnesota. Just because he was carrying a gun, doesn't mean it was out and he was threatening someone with it.

MOO

If he was an illegal immigrant, then he did not have a carry permit. And, if he was wanted for a “violent assault,” he would not have been allowed by law to be in possession of a firearm.

I’m sorry. I misread the article. I thought that it said the man they were trying to apprehend was in possession of the firearm.

IMO This is not live action role playing. Calling your self a legal observer does not cloak you from the law. A legal observer is not a protected status. Again, dangerous obstruction of a legal, federal operation. Unlawful assembly. These are not the Robin Hood’s of our society. Yet, this behavior will continue to be encouraged by some officials, giving the dangerous and false impression that you will successfully stop federal operations. IMO

Even if this was considered "unlawful assembly", that is a misdemeanor charge in MN. Not a death sentence penalty.

I think that the autopsy will find that Alex was shot in the back multiple times (maybe 10 or 11 times) while laying front-down on the ground.

imo

This is so terrible that I really have no words. It is sickening, and I don't even live in the US. How must Americans feel at this time?

The victim ........ "The man has been identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old US citizen, intensive care unit (ICU) nurse and Veterans Affairs employee.
Pretti was born in Illinois and grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin."

It is the person who ICE were looking for (not Alex Pretti) who is a 51-year old person who had charges in his background.

Moo..think the powers that be are going to have a hard time spinning this shooting in their favour. So many videos.....moo

Shooting unarmed, not threatening person multiple times and then preventing the medical help has nothing to do with the law. IMO, of course.

"don't be here illegally" - Alex Pretti was an American citizen.

"don't attack ICE officers" - he didn't. He went to the aid of a women who had been pushed to the ground by an ICE officer and was pepper sprayed in the face for his trouble.

"obey federal and state laws" - and what law was Alex Pretti breaking, exactly?

I think that one of the most disturbing parts of the videos is that, after he was shot several times, ICE agents start playing with the body - rifling through his pockets, shoving him around, looking like pick pockets.
