MN - Alex Pretti dead after Minneapolis shooting involving immigration agents, US media report, January 24, 2026

They had him pinned down to the ground. All they needed to do and should have been trained to do, was to search him properly. Not to shot hin ten times in the back.

MOO šŸ„
Wouldn't trained, capable LE have pinned his arms behind his back and cuffed him? There were enough of them in the pile on.

omg they're not necessarily supporting the amendment, they're supporting equality under the Constitution. How can you not comprehend this? You're an attorney aren't you? Critical thinking in the US is an endangered species.

I've justed watched the video below on the main BBC Ten O'Clock News on BBC1.

Ironically, if Alex Pretti had been arrested for this, he'd still be alive.

First time seeing that video - wow! He wasn’t a peaceful observer that time. He should have been taken into custody. imo

I agree, he should have been arrested for his actions in this video, there was very clear damage to the officers car. He was also armed here. So why didn’t they arrest him? Why didn’t this incident, where he’s being violent and distruptive, end with him being shot? Could it be because these officers knew how to de-escalate the situation and defuse a threat but the others didn’t?

Even Trump called back his top ICE guy from Minneapolis after this happened, probably due to all of the negative feedback from more and more citizens, not to mention all of us outsiders from other countries. I was absolutely disgusted and horrified at Alex Pretti being shot in the back like that. If ANYONE here thinks otherwise, I am disgusted IMO JMO. There has to be a better way of dealing with illegals who are dangerous criminals to expel them.

Micayla Pretti's full statement:

"Alex was kind, generous, and had a way of lighting up every room he walked into. He was incredibly intelligent and deeply passionate, and he made people feel safe. But most importantly, he was my brother. I had the privilege of being his little sister for 32 years. I will never be able to hug him, laugh with him, or cry to him again because of those thugs—and that is a pain no words can fully capture.

"Alex always wanted to make a difference in this world, and it's devastating that he won't be here to witness the impact he was making. Through his work at the VA caring for the sickest patients, and passion to advance cancer research, he touched more lives than he probably ever realized. All Alex ever wanted was to help someone—anyone. Even in his very last moments on this earth, he was simply trying to do just that.

"I want to thank everyone who has reached out to my family and me, whether you knew Alex personally or not. The messages, posts, and overwhelming positivity shared about him truly reflect his character, work ethic, and passions. My brother is, and always will be, my hero.

"When does this end? How many more innocent lives must be lost before we say enough? Hearing disgusting lies spread about my brother is absolutely gut-wrenching, and my family is deeply grateful so many people have stood up and helped tell his truth. He would be very proud." MSN

As far as I know BBC Verify never issued any statement confirming the claims from this article (you can check it here.) The video in question is not on their webpage either. I might be wrong but I would be grateful for providing the links.

All the world's hockey players young and old think the agents must be band camp types or something.

My seven-year-old woulda just held the victim's jacket at the hips, pulled it inside out over his head, and then sat on his forearms. Pinned

Moo..I understand, the want and need to deport illegal peoples. But my understanding is there has always been ice and deportations. Watching this from out side of USA it reminds me of a first person video game...which is kinda creepy. The masks you cannot see a person's emotions and it allows person to feel anonymous. No reason they should be wearing masks to hide their identity. Local LE does not hide their identity. And local LE do not like ice....local LE feel protective of the people they ...serve and protect
One reason local LE in good police departments do not like ICE is because they harass good community members who LE can develop relationships with and get a sense of what is going on on the streets. Local LE wants to find real criminals and they need the trust of law-abiding people in the community to police effectively. Federal ICE agents and Border Patrol agents are capricious and violent and are not trusted. Then, the community stops trusting all law enforcement.

So true @Hexe …. and sad. And not trying to intrude….. and I am not fully up to speed on this thread…. but that analysis does bring another question to mind.

Just have to wonder whether any of these individuals are trained in the use or deployment of a taser? I don’t recall whether that has been discussed in this context. IANAL nor a munitions or firearm expert. MOO

Not to go too far off topic, but we know at least some have, because the first incident the man who shot Renee Good was involved in, the so called 'dragging' incident, a taser was used.

PLEASE STOP PERSONALIZING. STOP ACCUSING MEMBERS OF GASLIGHTING OR OF BEING SHAMEFUL. OR TALKING ABOUT THE "DELUSION." JUST STICK TO THE FACTS OF THE CASE AND HAVE A DISCUSSION.

This so frustrating. We are trying to open up the thread to more conversation and yet some posters can't stop making it personal.
I'll have to start timing out and I hate doing that. Do not insult your fellow posters. Discuss. Show facts. Discuss theories. Don't personalize by insulting.
I swear that is all I am asking you to do.

Whistles, cameras, and loud voices are way too much to handle when you're going after the "worst of the worst" (who end up being 5yo kids).
