MN - Alex Pretti dead after Minneapolis shooting involving immigration agents, US media report, January 24, 2026

No matter how he framed it in his presser, it still came across as gaslighting - its everyone else's fault. No responsibility taken, reinforcing how wonderful ICE are, all will be good as long as you all behave

I don't know how anyone can continue to support this government, it reeks of authoritarianism and keeps getting worse. Surely the majority of US citizens can see this? Can certainly see it plainly from outside the US
Thank you for stating the obvious which many Americans can't seem to grasp.

I'm trying to imagine what the situation will be like in several months when the World Cup comes to the US. It's a once in a generation opportunity to host the world's most popular sport. And some of the most rabid fans of football are from countries like Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil, as well as Mexico, UK and Italy. There will be nearly 5 million people coming to these events. There's a lot of brown folk in that mix and they've got lots of money to spend. FIFA has received more than half a billion ticket requests for the games and I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are from those countries.

The World Cup generates millions and millions of dollars in revenues. How is this going to work? Will some of these people forego the events because they aren't enthralled over the possibility they get scooped up by ICE because of what they look like? Is the US going to be ordering any alien in the country to have their 'papers' on them at all times? I don't know about anyone else, but when I travel I don't walk around with my passport in my pocket. Not in the US, Italy, Panama, Germany France, Costa Rico, Mexico, etc.

If you are someone like Eva Longoria, the Hispanic actress who once said, when someone told her to go back to her own country, she said, "We didn't cross the border. The border crossed us." She's a 9th generation Texan. How many people in the US can trace their lineage back to generations that lived in the US long before the people who are telling them to get out, arrived? That is what is so f*****d up about this whole thing. Because we all know, regardless of the message that ICE sends, that they are looking for 'violent, criminal illegals,' that many of the people they have arrested are NOT illegals, that they DON'T have criminal backgrounds. The only thing they are guilty of, is not being the right colour. If you deny that, you are lying to yourself.

When it is suggested that a Nurse, or anyone, not attend to a women shoved to the ground and instead needs to walk away to avoid immediate death from government agents this is no longer America.

all imo
It indicates a country, IMO, on the way to the equivalent of what is known as a Police State in authoritarian regimes such as the pretend democracy known as Russia. Jmo

not what I said, but if that is your opinion I will not debate you on it as your opinion is yours to have.

ETA to my response as yours was edited to add more afterwards. I agree that he appears to have chosen to confront and escalate things with agents in the encounter that occurred 11 days prior to the fatal encounter that is the topic of this thread. I agree that was not a wise decision on his part. On the day of his death he did arm himself as he had on the prior incident occasion. On the day in question, IMO he did not confront and provoke agents.
For all we know about Alex is that he armed himself every day, not just when he was protesting. So equating the two doesn't make sense to me. If someone has a concealed carry permit I presume they carry a concealed weapon. Most of the talking heads on tv that acknowledge they carry a concealed weapon seems to support that premise. Even Donald Trump, who in 2012 interview with the Washington Times, admitted he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Over 5 days since the shooting.

I'm 95% sure Hennepin County has the names of the two shooters.

I'm 70% sure there's a whistleblower.

I'm 50% sure DHS/DOJ/WH are so bad at Cover Ups that they still haven't figured out how much danger management is in of being criminally charged. Imagine even somewhat of a possibility that a shooter attorney could seek a plea bargain in exchange for exposing the details of the Cover Up.

All my opinions, based on what's missing.

(Tangentially, remember how quick JD Vance was to publicize the Ross phone vid. Reason #159 that that was a terrible idea, is cuz it magnifies the lack of the 3 missing bodycams that have evidence here)

And it is reinforcing the authoritarian structure the government is trying to create, and succeeding in some ways. Behave and all will be good
Yes, this x100%.

"..reinforcing the authoritarian structure the government is trying to create...behave and all will be good"

Moo...I mean what unreflective, absurd, inane and obtuse statements Tom Horman delivered! Not sure if he is just a little dim, or thinks US citizens, especially Minnesotians are stupid? If I was listening, talk about an insult to basic intelligence. Jmo

It's also reinforcing the opposite.

If people behave, they'll be safe.

Therefore, people who are harmed must have done something bad enough to have deserved it.

According to the CNN analysis, black-beanie-guy and tan-beanie-guy did the shooting.

You can see black-beanie-guy's gun go off in this short video. (screenshot here) It is the 5th video down in the linked article.

All my opinion; Yes, absolutely... be "good" and you're safe, if you get shot 10-12 times in the back by the authorities you were "bad" and asked for it. IMO That's the message between the lines. Some take it on board and who can blame them I suppose as the fear grows...that's how these things work..moo much like a threatening abusive relationship but on the macro scale. Jmo

We should sleuth the videos to try to find the bodycams

I'm thinking of that other place where they stormed our embassay 47 years ago and they just killed all those protesters under the guise as "terrorists".

It's just so blatantly obvious isn't it - I certainly can't speak for everyone but myself and others in Australia will not be travelling to the US for a long time now, even if there is a change of government. Too many risks and it will take a long time to heal the damage. And I LOVEEEE the US! Have had some wonderful trips there. But in its current state, there's no way I'd visit, but that's not a reflection on the people, its a reflection on fear. Genuine fear and honestly disgust at Trump and his government. Plus they'd probably take one look at my WS posts and kick me out 😁

Oh SA (and hello! has been a while since I've been so active on a thread - hope you are good 🥰 ) - when I read your post I was thinking beanie babies, now I can't get that image out of my head 🤣

CNN are all over those videos, I think their identities are going to come out soon

I would like to know what transpired to cause an ICE agent to push her, why or how it came to be she was in that situation to begin with, and most importantly, if at that moment the agent was perceiving a threat.
I think it's pretty obvious. She was shouting at him, I would guess she wasn't shouting nice things. Probably something like (this is totally my imagination):

"Go home! Leave us alone! Get out of our neighborhood! You're not making things better, you're making things worse!"

Again, that was a completely made up by me quote there.

But no matter what she said or how loud she said it, you know she was within her rights and the law to say it. The agent should have been better trained how to handle that. Should've included NO violence.

There was a lot going on, and in my opinion the totality of circumstances over time will be considered.
What does your reply have to do with the comment you replied to?

Why we're all here.

What a wonderful person he was. It really hits home that as it notes in the article, he wanted to make a difference but he won't be here to see the difference he has made.

He didn't let the fear mongering stop him from standing up for what he believed in, for the good of others. That's specialness that isn't quite so common nowadays
