YES, I DO !! Remember, today was the 'Statement of Probable Cause' - enough to get over the threshold to charge Mr. Collins. There was a clip sometimes shown of Barway walking (kinda curiously imo) toward the parking lot ---- I've thought the police had further video, and so if the police knew that, no wonder Chief Revering looks and seems so very heartbroken and sad --- because they would know that Pierre Collins just kept lying and lying and lying, as for 25 days, little Barway's duct-taped covered corpse sat submerged in that round metal storm drainage area at the bank of the Mississippi River in the park !
Yes, I was standing closest to her and I got that feeling. Broke my heart and I started crying.

Poor Barway! So premeditated.

Seeing his happy, cheerful face on the school van, while his own father lays in wait to murder him. I cannot wrap my brain around it.

All of these cases are so hard to take but I'm literally sick right now. Poor Barway.

I'll try to fill in. They have evidence of him going to the river earlier that day, the only reason would have been to go fishing. He did not have anything to fish with.

Correct. They do not know who uncle is.

How in the world do they know 'the only reason to go to the river would be to fish'? And how in the world would the police know he didn't have any fishing gear - does that mean there's a river park live camera and the police can see him leave his car earlier in the day?

What about 'present' wife - anybody think she could be in on this ??? I am feeling mighty suspicious -- this imo -- due to how very gabby and defensive of Pierre she was in those early 'in home' press conferences ! The Wife 'vouched' for Pierre's whereabouts the whole time, did she not??? Also, now I feel suspicious - this is imo -- about when Wife screamed out 'Allah' at that prayer service -- that prayer service was where she and Pierre were given $1,200 cold cash ! omgosh

Also, IT IS SO INCREDIBLY DAMNING that Pierre has no job, and Wife no job, AND HE'S PAYING FOR A $30,000 LIFE INSURANCE PREMIUM ON A HEALTHY 10 Y OLD BOY !! OMGosh, I am guessing the insurance company has Pierre on tape asking to buy even more life insurance on Barway, the two days prior to the murder, I believe Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said. WOW - just so shocked !

I agree. I get interested in cases, but none have made me as furious as this case. Such a disregard of human life, of your own flesh and blood. I cannot understand it.

The little guy's face captured my heart. He seems like a sweet kid and someone I would enjoy knowing.

I guess I'm grateful that I have a range of feelings - a motherly instinct to be charmed and to feel protective toward this child, fury at someone who would calculate the profit of killing his own child, gratitude for the searchers who kept going out to look, appreciation for police work, regret that our country didn't provide the safe haven I'm sure his mother hoped it would for him, peace that he is no longer suffering, worry for his friends and siblings as they cope with this ugliness in the world....all these range of feelings mean I'm human and not like the person who killed this beautiful child.

Rest in peace, Barway.

I am also wondering, but am reserving speculation for the moment. It's entirely possible that she is a victim of his control and perhaps violence. I just don't know yet.

As far as the fishing - I suspect he was asked if he had any fishing gear and he said "no."

There was a comment from the Pastor some time ago indicating PC was having a hard time finding a job due to his felony record. Being unemployed does not suprise me (looking for link).

ETA: post #165 has the felony mention regarding employment.

Sounds like Pierre pulled a 'snow job' on present wife. Pierre told her he was 'off to work' that morning - I wonder what sort of job she thought he had....

Wonder what 'the felony record' is - it's NOT Minnesota, I believe people here have searched the online records.

I'm watching the press conference from the beginning. I think it wasn't worded carefully, but what Mr. Freeman meant to say is that Pierre Collins ADDED $20,000 more onto the life insurance policy he owned for little Barway JUST TWO DAYS prior to murdering the child !

I am getting a feeling along the lines of Pierre being our next 'Jodi Arias': You know, the killer who conceived herself to be 'smarter than Einstein'.:hot:

An important tidbit on the employment topic:

http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3765270.shtml?cat=1

According to the criminal complaint, Collins and Barway’s stepmother have “considerable financial obligations, debt and no current income.” Prosecutors say Collins was offered a temporary job on March 17 that was supposed to start at 4 p.m. March 18, but Collins turned it down because he said he couldn’t report at that time.

About the fishing, I suppose it is a remote area with nothing there "to do," like a bike path or playground or what have you. It may be an area known to be a fishing spot. And they may have searched his car or apartment and found no fishing gear.

He's a liar. Whatever he says about that day cannot be trusted. He's a liar and he's the type of liar who doesn't care if he's caught in a lie, he will stick with the lie. Truth to him, IMO, is being stubborn and arrogant to repeat lies over and over, as if that persistence makes lies true.

Just my opinion of what I've seen and read about him. Liar.

Looks like she thought he was a home healthcare aid, according to the Statement of Probable Cause.

From the Statement of Probable Cause:

4:42pm: at Lyndale and 55th Avenues North
5:17pm: at Cub Foods/TCF Bank in Brooklyn Center.

This looks to me like the murder happened quickly. The two locations are not far apart, but they are not adjacent to each other either. And, I'm assuming there was traffic that time of day, especially heading north as he would be doing. So he committed the crime and drove to another location in a little over 30 minutes.

He had a plan, imo.

Absolutely bizarre.

Great post! If Mr. Collins did do this, he acted fast - skiddaddled and got out of there. But it makes sense to me that he would want to go really fast, because along the top of the bluffs by the parking lot is a real long trail that goes on and on, so he would want some biker/s to come by and see him, or anyone else. Like you said, sure does show a WELL-PLANNED murder - premeditation.

As to Mr. Collins saying he's innocent and excited to get to trial, I for sure suspend any sort of judgment at this time: That is in the courts now.

(If Mr. Collins did do this murder, gosh, he's 32, got two little tots, went on tv over and over, saying he never did it, saying 'Liberians don't act that way', etc., etc. With one's foot in their mouth that big, and a duct-taped little boy in a storm water holding tank for 25 days, it would be kinda difficult to 'crack' and really tell the truth, don't you think ?? Maybe he will confess eventually - it says he had tears in front of his Wife - that's a 'good' sign that maybe the guy feels some guilt at his behavior ???:waiting:

I believe the tears were real. I also believe that "Liberians don't act that way," because people in general don't act that way.

People are complicated. He might have tears at the same time he lied and plotted and killed.
