The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says that Gene Adam Doherty, 40, was last seen on July 1, as he left his mother’s home near Silver Bay, Minnesota.

Authorities say that when he left he might have been suffering from a mental health crisis, given that he left with no clothes and without his dog, which concerned family and friends.

Authorities have been focusing search and rescue efforts on nearby 451-acre Cascade Lake after a detection dog pinpointed Doherty’s scent at the public boat landing. Crews have used motorboats and side-scan sonar to scour the shoreline and lake in search of Doherty.

“We’ve had a great search and rescue group,” said Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen. “They give it everything.”

The family of Gene Doherty continues to search, pleading for support

At the time he was last seen, Gene was described as without his dog, which immediately concerned his friends and family.

A family is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing man seen earlier last month in Silver Bay.

Gene Doherty, 40, was last seen July 1 at his mother’s home.

Despite the families’ efforts, Gene has not been found.

The search was suspended due to challenging terrain, limited resources, and severe weather.

July 1st is not 'last month' but regardless, too long ago if he left with nothing. Maybe he had a tent and supplies in the vehicle but leaving his dog behind is worrisome. No word about a phone or wallet or bank activity?
