I'm not sure the placement of the knee makes a difference. Based on testimony I have seen, it appears the knee to the neck would obstruct blood flow. The weight of the knee, along with two other officers weight, would obstruct the ability to inhale.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the neck restraint is considered a form of the chokehold.

In the manual, MN Statute 609.06, it defines chokehold as "a method by which a person applies sufficient pressure to make breathing difficult or impossible, including, but not limited to, throat or windpipe that may prevent or hinder breathing or reduce intake of air..."

I have a problem with cop not rolling him to his side -
Failure to render aide isn’t Murder or even close though
They did much more than fail to render aid.

This is also known as “hooping.”

One of the sidebar discussions from the weekend covers this.. I believe from my limited understanding that it is a quicker method of ingestion

I disagree. Running or not, condensation will continue up to drip. GF'S pants appeared dry when he was lifted up, and iirc, that condensation was already on the street before GF was removed from the vehicle.

(note for sidebar convo, have questions.)

what was the deal with taking drugs rectally?

The anus (& vagina) are very vascular, and can allow more rapid uptake of drugs than via swallowing. That is one reason why anti-seizure drugs are given rectally when IV/IO access is not possible (eg: parent giving meds to a child with epilepsy, during a seizure).
Also, the vodka-tampon craze that was in the news a few years ago.
Of course, administering a drug rectally, that is normally ingested orally (PO), could produce rapid, unpredictable effects (even if that same drug had been taken orally before).

I thought “hooping” was playing basketball??

That remains to be proven

The question about drugs through rectum was asked of the doctor today

No, IMO neck restraint and chokehold are not necessarily the same.

He wouldn't have checked for that but they might have been able to tell from the autopsy. There wasn't any indication that they found anything suggesting that, though.

Not that I am aware.

He obviously has drugs in his system as per his autopsy but how they were taken is only speculation from a comment he made about hooping, which I think was caught on officer body cam

I haven’t seen autopsy report though (don’t know if anyone has?) or if they could tell either way. Assume maybe via swab?

He stated that he had as he was being walked across the street.
(from Lane BCA transcript and also bodycam).

(Here’s where I think some additional points of discussion...gah overwhelmed, Tox report, meth. The meth thing is where it could get tricky, imo. Not watching, just reflecting. Linda and I are talking straight up, so I’m thinking of some points with the defense, idk if they’ll touch on the meth thing, they may..cont..@dixiegirl1035, can u please bring fwd tox, nevermind I know where to find it, I’ll bring it forward then I want to see tox dose for meth (again, I think DC’s knee killed him, not the meth, but bringing forward for analysis)

Sorry folks, I was not aware that JG has set up a Weekly Sidebar, so the above link to Sidebar won't work.

I'll have to start a new Sidebar for this week. Give me a few minutes.
