Can you share? TIA

Snipped
In addition to changing her last name, Kellie Chauvin wants the titles to both of their homes: the primary residence in Minnesota, and their second home near Orlando, Florida. She is not seeking spousal support, saying in the filing that she can support herself with her work as a realtor.

Friends and neighbors of the couple tell PEOPLE that the couple had a strange relationship — and that Kellie had been trying to get out of the marriage for some time now. "She wasn't happy with him," a friend tells PEOPLE. "But it was a big step for her to leave him."

A friend who lived near the couple tells PEOPLE that the couple's marriage was stressed by their work schedules. "They seemed to have a pretty distant marriage because they worked such different shifts and long hours," says Amy Lanza. "We wanted to get together, but they always put us off, because they were always busy and always had stuff going on. They didn't have many friends."

There were financial issues, as well. According to documents filed in the divorce case, Derek Chauvin entered the marriage with thousands of dollars in debt, some of which he defaulted on. The couple's two properties were heavily mortgaged.

I totally agree. He appeared to be a man on a mission once he & his partner arrived - that being, to snuff his life out.
Exactly!!
Chauvin and Thao are a deadly duo. When they showed up, they took over.

Where was it reported that Lane was only on the job for four days? If so that is interesting as his partner has only been on the force about 2 years. (He does look like he is off in the mugshot. He is also the one that was recently married and his family reported that they had no idea where he was. He might be at risk for self-harm).
It does feel a tad better knowing there was one with a sense of human decency toward GF.

"Gray said Thursday that all Lane did was hold Floyd’s feet so he couldn’t kick, and he underlined that the criminal complaint says Lane asked Chauvin twice if they should roll Floyd over and expressed concern that Floyd might be in delirium. He said Lane performed CPR in the ambulance."
“What was my client supposed to do but follow what his training officer said? Is that aiding and abetting a crime?” Gray asked.

Here's my thoughts on the 3 officers and why they did nothing. Not excusing that they did nothing, just trying to figure out a possible reason (aside from their being scum): Think about a pilot flying a plane with a co-pilot. I have watched that program about plane crashes- after a crash the NTSB and other agencies would analyze the crash to try and figure out why the plane crashed: what they found out (this was perhaps 10-15 years ago) was that the pilot was the captain of the ship: nobody was to question what he was doing so if he was taking the plane into a mountain, the co-pilot just sat there and said nothing because he was taught not to say anything. After so many crashes they figured out that a failure to allow the co-pilot to communicate his thoughts and ideas was causing planes to crash. The airplane industry changed their long-standing approach and when they allowed the co-pilot to contribute to flying the plane, crashes diminished.

It is said that Chauvin was the training officer during the Floyd incident. Two of the officers were very new on the job: I believe they were afraid to challenge Chauvin for fear of losing their jobs: also, he may have the kind of personality that does not lend itself to being questioned-- how dare you question my authority kind of thing. The police department may have that kind of communication policy where officers are taught not to interfere when the head honcho cop is in charge of the situation.

This does not excuse these officers, just trying to figure things out.

This link is interesting, it has a full background on all of the players in this situation. The victim, the perpetrators. A full article about each one.

I am on face book and get numerous media videos and articles posted to my wall. I am stunned to see the videos of police brutality against protesters who aren't causing a problem. In many cases, the cops involved are under investigation because of the video evidence. Some have been reassigned while investigated.

But it shows, imo, that there is a certain mentality in some police forces (not just the few bad apples) that justifies excessive force, even when they know that they are being filmed. Even when the protesters are marching against police brutality! There is definitely something so wrong with their lack of restraint at this time. Maybe when you have gotten away with brutality for so long, it takes a while for the message to click in? I don't think this will be an easy problem to rectify. But, hopefully videos shared on social media will help. Public reactions and media pressure may finally be effective in holding authorities accountable if action isn't taken against bad cops. jmo

Actually, yes. The officers of first car, Lane and Kueng, treat Floyd normally. I think Floyd even said “thank you” when they allowed him to sit down. But appears the second car, with Chauvin and Thao, and everything changes.

Who in MPD put these two together as partners? Two officers with a history of complaints for excessive force: one with a judgment paid and the other with reprimands. They should not have been trusted to be partners. That admin person needs to be looked at because these are poor decisions.

Here for JUSTICE FOR FLOYD !!

I alluded to this earlier and the possibility that Mr. Floyd was going to be placed n Chauvin’s car and thus his “care.”
I do not see any good reason to take someone already cuffed from one car to another. Perhaps, Mr. Floyd began struggling to stay in the car because he feared Chauvin?
Then I apologize for missing your post. I don't think GF was placed in Chauvin's car as he was just arriving on the scene. I am interested in Chauvin's explanation for opening that rear passenger door and pulling GF out. He can't say he it was to relieve GF's medical distress.

You are really misunderstanding me and i am not sure why, but i will try once more. It is my understanding and i might be wrong here, but i thought Floyd was in another officers car when he was taken out by Chauvin and put on the ground and killed. My theory is that if this is true it could explain the ruckus in the first car because Floyd did not want to be in Chauvin’s custody. Capeche?

I've given that some thought to explain Chauvin's actions. After the officers struggled to get GF into the back of the squad car, Chauvin arrives, heads directly to open the door and pulls him back out (???) Huh?

I think Chauvin learned it was GF when he was radioed for backup. His demeanor appeared sadistic and .... kinda personal (?)
I agree with you.

  • #318
Exactly. Does anyone honestly think he intended to kill him? I have doubts about that, and I am as sympathetic to GF as anyone. I would be surprised you'd find 12 people on a jury who agreed it was premeditated murder.
I see it as premeditated, as he continued on and didn’t stop even when he knew GF was having respiratory issues, and he could his nose had started bleeding, and knew he had no pulse. He knew and didn’t care, IMO.

He does look devastated in his mug shot, and only one I have any empathy for. I actually feel bad for him.

Considering that ex-p.o. Lane was "brand new" I believe Chauvin made this arrest into a "teaching moment." Considering Mr. Floyd's size, I wonder if the homicidal maniac had a conversation about most effective way to render a big, handcuffed person "compliant" using only a knee. And instructed the new guys to "watch how this is done the easy way." IMO, of course
