I thought it was GF who passed the counterfeit bill? Do you think they were both involved in it?

Twice in the last few years I've been accused of handing over a counterfeit bill. Both were older issue $5.00 bills that were printed before our lovely plastic money came into issue. Neither were counterfeit. I never expected to die for it, even if they had been counterfeit.

I haven't seen a report that indicated GF truly passed a counterfeit bill. Insinuating that he did so, without proof, can subconsciously perpetuate racist stereotypes and victim blaming.

That was the reason 911 was called. The store employees went to ask him to return the cigarettes but he refused. This is in both the 911 transcript and in the wiki account, both already posted. How is this victim blaming when it is the reason the police were there? Why do you think the store called the police? If we cannot post verified facts on here then we are truly lost.

Video experience headlines - BBC News

'Is that what a black man's life is worth? $20?'
Philonise Floyd, brother of George Floyd, spoke at a House Judiciary Committee hearing about police brutality and racial profiling.

He said his brother "didn’t deserve to die over $20" and urged lawmakers to ensure he did not die "in vain".

Mr Floyd died in Minneapolis last month as a white police officer held a knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

The police had been called after a report that Mr Floyd had used a counterfeit $20 (£16.20) bill.

If we ignore the narrative that has been occurring, and really focus on the failures of the Minneapolis PD, there is a pattern.

Justine Damond's death should have been part of a larger conversation about how Minneapolis police handle calls in the community. Instead of "Trial, payout" business as usual. And what type of people MPD hires, how they do their training, and what is the system to identify people who should not be officers. Noor had several flags, as did Chauvin. What was the systemic failure that allowed both of these officers to continue being police officers, when it is obvious on paper that they were unfit?

George Floyd: Where is the alleged counterfeit $20 bill?

The police were called because he allegedly used a counterfeit bill. Note, it has not been confirmed the bill he used was in fact counterfeit. It's possible the clerk was mistaken and the bill was authentic.

Yes. Some young adults are suspicious of the old twenties which are almost all out of circulation now.

Have you got a link re the possibility it was authentic? Stores can usually tell with a special light can't they? I just quoted Floyd's brother about it.

Do police have it or the store have it? It would be evidence for sure so have police lost it or did it disappear like Thao's phone in the third precinct fire?

It might be hard to get the evidence as when the alleged perpetrator of a crime dies so does the case against them.
But it might be evidence in DCs case for murder.

I don't. But no where in msm has it been confirmed an investigation into the bill determined it was in fact counterfeit. It's not yet "fact" that the bill was proven counterfeit. It may have been, it may not have been. We do not know yet.

It is fact that is what he was arrested for. Same as everyone on WS that has been arrested but it hasn't got to trial yet. So we talk about those facts before any trial.

If they still have it, which I doubt due to the fire. But they still have the 911 call and the store clerk witness so that is fact.

Minneapolis Police chief says officers' lack of experience is no excuse in George Floyd killing - CNN

"When I helped craft the duty to intervene and duty to report (policies) in 2016, it does not signify if you have two days on or 20 years on. We expect you to, whether it's verbally and physically, to call out for help and intervene.

That's a nice policy on paper, but if the actual police training and police department culture aren't changed to effectuate it, such a policy isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Research has shown time and time again people have a strong basic tendency to conform to group pressure and defer to seniority and experience. This requires active training to combat. This means that: A) both new recruits and veterans have to be specifically trained to speak up against (possible) violations, even those committed by higher ranking/ more experienced officers, B) the senior officers must be willing to listen to/ be corrected by (potentially) much less experienced / lower ranking officers, C) the police department culture supports, rather than ostracizes, officers speaking up against colleagues crossing the line.

It is obvious that none of these preconditions were present at the MPD and in fact the opposite was happening: A) Officers, both new and veteran, apparently received no training in crew resource management. B) a rigid command structure where people of lesser rank/experience were expected to defer to those with a higher rank and more experience C) a toxic department culture where officers who crossed the thin blue line were ostracized. No wonder the policy was a complete and abject failure.

Tl:dr: It's nice to write a policy and expect people to follow it, mr. Arradondo, but proper crew resource management requires constant active training and real culture change, and it seems that the MPD simply neglected to implement these.

It burnt down on 28th May. This guy in this article was charged with arson and theft.
I notice that search warrant was electronically issued 28th May at 9.49 pm. Not sure what time it burnt down but it's likely the items weren't retrieved IMO.

Man charged in fire that gutted Mpls. police station
The incident occurred at approx 2045 which indicates that the officers worked evening or night shift. The video was posted within hours of the incident and all 4 officers were terminated sometime the next day (May 26).

Without a search warrant, the officers expectation of privacy is limited by the department policy of searching employees’ belongings”, 300 F.3d at 1054.

I suspect the officers were given the opportunity to clean out their lockers at the time of termination ... JMOO.

The 911 call was about a $20 dispute between a store and a customer. Two squad cars with four officers were dispatched to the scene. When the first officers arrived they threatened to use lethal force by pointing a loaded gun at George Floyd almost immediately.

The officer didn’t even look at the supposed fake bill. Or take the time to hear George’s side of the story.

Have we heard the audio from that part of the video?

He was murdered before he could be arrested.

He was executed prior to trial.

Here's the transcript of the 911 call.

Operator: 911 what's the address of the emergency?
Caller: This is ah 3759 Chicago Ave.
Operator: How can I help you?
Caller: Um someone comes our store and give us fake bills and we realize it before he left the store, and we ran back outside, they was sitting on their car. We tell them to give us their phone, put their (inaudible) thing back and everything and he was also drunk and everything and return to give us our cigarettes back and so he can, so he can go home but he doesn't want to do that, and he's sitting on his car cause he is awfully drunk and he's not in control of himself.
Operator: Okay, what type of vehicle does he have?
Caller: And .... um he's got a vehicle that is ah ... one second let me see if I can see the license. The driver license is BRJ026.
Operator: Okay, what color is it?

Operator: Alright blue van, gotcha. Is it out front or is it on 38th St.?
Caller: Ah it's on 38th St.
Operator: On 38th St. So, this guy gave a counterfeit bill, has your cigarettes, and he's under the influence of something?

Operator: Not too bad.
Caller: Had a long day, huh?
Operator: What's your name?
Caller: My name is (deleted)
Operator: Alright, a phone number for you?
Caller: (Deleted)
Operator: Alright, I've got help on the way. If that vehicle or that person leaves before we get there, just give us a call back, otherwise we'll have squads out there shortly, okay?
Caller: No problem.
Operator: Thank you.
