It will be interesting to see the results. Hope today is the day the other three, vile human beings are arrested. Still wanting justice for Mr. Floyd and family. JMHO.

George Floyd's family to release results of own autopsy

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The attorney for George Floyd's family was set to announce findings Monday of an independent autopsy into his death a week ago after a Minneapolis officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck for several minutes.

Floyd, a black man who was in handcuffs at the time, died after the white officer ignored bystander shouts to get off him and Floyd's cries that he couldn't breathe. His death, captured on citizen video, sparked days of protests in Minneapolis that have spread to cities around America.

In reading the article, she is stating she wants no financial assistance or money. I take this to mean that she also wants to walk away from his pension. Gotta wonder how she wants their assets divided? They have two homes.

Good for her. I can only imagine what it feels like to see that video and live with the monster he was. She has two sons who are people of color. She knows (as do all parents of children of color) that her own children were one mistake away from meeting a monster like her husband---- not that you even have to be doing anything wrong to get stopped and be a victim of excessive force.

George Floyd had previously taken to SM to encourage young people to give up gun violence/speak out against violence and kids getting shot, etc.; his girlfriend said he was as gentle as the breeze:

And who will listen? The SM video with Mr. Floyd speaking against gun violence needs to be played like a giant movie screen on buildings so those committing crimes as a result of his murder hear and see his message.

We see movies in the park type of thing. Mr.Floyd's voice needs to be presented in the same way.

From USA Today: Mr. Floyd's brother speaks at makeshift memorial for his brother. Live streaming.

Starts a chant, "The family has called for peace." Heartwrenching. They want protest but no violence. Family wants all 4 locked-up.

She did. It must be different or maybe he doesn’t have $50,000 yet.
I’m sure he’ll be out after his hearing next week.

They probably have him in protective custody so he might feel staying in jail is safer at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't post bail quite yet. JMO.

Good find, Charlot.

That has always been one of my fears, believe it or not, when you’re at the store and they take the “marker” to check your bill to make sure it’s legit...that they’ll say it’s fake, and I’ll be like “I swear officer, I didn’t know...”

The markers detect starch. A substance that is usually present in ordinary paper but not in the special paper used for US currency. The problem is that bills can be contaminated with starch causing the marker test to fail.

Most counterfeit bills are easy to spot if you know what to look for. The first clue is that real money feels different than ordinary paper. The next step is to look for the security stripe and the watermark version of the portrait.

He was moved to Oak Park Heights Maximum Security Prison in Minnesota.

Pageant wife of Derek Chauvin doesn't want a penny in their divorce | Daily Mail Online

<Snipped>
The 407-inmate prison boasts of never having had an escape and is also regarded as one of the country's safest, having only had one homicide in its history. Located on the border with Wisconsin, between the cities of Bayport and Stillwater, it accepts some of America's most hated and high-risk inmates.

Privately though, law enforcement sources told DailyMail.com the move was to ensure Chauvin - now America's most hated inmate - was not murdered behind bars.

'If he was in the general jail population he would probably be dead in two minutes,' a source told DailyMail.com. 'This is entirely for security purposes.'

All four ex police officers should be charged with first degree murder. One ex officer killed him but they all stood there and did nothing to stop it. In my state if you are with someone in the commission of a felony (3rd degree murder is a felony) and a death occurs during the commission of that felony, then you are charged with 1st degree murder no matter how that death occurred. e.g. An example is if two people are robbing a store and one is shot and killed either by the store owner or a police officer the other is charged with 1st degree murder because a death occurred during the commission of a felony.

I don't know how it is in Minnesota but that is the law here.

Also the clerk that called the police should be fired. That clerk did not do their job. You do not call police when someone hands you a counterfeit bill. You take the bill and person's information ( name, address, phone number) then you ask if they have other means to pay for the merchandise. If they do not you keep the bill and the merchandise. If they do then you keep the counterfeit bill along with the person's information and tell them the Treasury department will be in contact with them. You then take the bill and the person's information and send it in to the Treasury Department. But you do not call the local police because it is not a local matter.

This is standard procedure with counterfeit money because
1. The person may not even know the bill was counterfeit and
2. The Treasury Department will want to question them as to where they obtained the counterfeit bill and
3. It is a federal matter not a local matter and
4. The local police could be part of the local ring that is producing counterfeit money.

That is why counterfeit money is solely in the hands of the Treasury Department.

Fire the clerk for not doing their job correctly and charge all four ex policemen for 1st degree murder by excessive use of force.

I've never heard that procedure before. I'm in Canada but one would think it is similar. We were always told to call local police - by mgmt. and by the police themselves! Um, they even have fraud dep'ts at police stations.

At any rate, the teenage clerk would not have called police unless someone told her to.

Please, please let all officers involved in this crime be charged. Especially that one who’s just standing there ignoring the pleas to check man’s pulse.

I imagine the store owners who rang the police feel awful right now. They weren’t to know what would happen, it’s not wrong of them to call it in if they suspect fraud. They had no idea that the responding officer would murder George, while the others just stood stone faced.

BBM

I respectfully disagree. The store owner or clerk who called the police was wrong. The standard procedure for dealing with counterfeit money is to take the bill, get the person in possession of the bill's name, address and phone number if possible, then turn the bill and the person's information over to the Treasury Department because the Treasury Department and Secret Service have sole authority over counterfeit money, not local police.

Store owners and clerks in stores should be trained in the handling of counterfeit money. This is the training they should have received. This is what is posted in all our stores and casinos.

If you suspect a counterfeit note please report it immediately to the U.S. Secret Service.

For your personal safety. . . PLEASE:

  1. Do not put yourself in danger.
  2. Do not return the bill to the passer.
  3. Delay the passer and if possible, get a copy their driver's license or ID card.
  4. Observe the passer's description - and their companions' descriptions - and write down their vehicle license plate numbers if you can.
  5. Contact your local U.S. Secret Service Office.
  6. Write your initials and date in the white border area of the suspected counterfeit note.
  7. DO NOT handle the counterfeit note. Place it inside a protective cover, a plastic bag, or envelope to protect it until you place it in the hands of an IDENTIFIED Secret Service Agent.
  8. Surrender the note or coin ONLY to a properly identified Secret Service Special Agent, or mail it to your nearest U.S. Secret Service field office.

I want to read the autopsy. Although I think he likely died of asphyxia, I don't believe a word that comes out of Crump's mouth.

Maybe that is standard procedure where you live/work but the employee in this case was following the store's protocol. Per the attached article:
"The man tried to use what an employee suspected was a counterfeit $20 bill but an employee caught it, gave it back to the man and they left, Abumayyaleh said. Roughly 10 minutes later, Floyd came back in the store and used a suspicious $20 bill, according to the owner. The employee didn't immediately notice and Floyd left but the employee followed protocol and called the police."

I absolutely disagree that the clerk should be fired. They were following the store's protocol. If you're taking umbrage with anyone it should be the store owners that made that protocol. The clerk was doing their job.

Fraud departments in the police department do not have jurisdiction over counterfeit money, it is a federal matter in the hands of the federal Secret Service and Treasury Department. I don't know how it is in Canada but that's how it is here. Call Canada's equivalent of the Treasury Department or secret Service and ask them the standard procedure for the handling of counterfeit money.

BBM

First of all the teenage clerk or anyone else working in the store had no way of knowing if Mr. Floyd even knew the bill was counterfeit. Thousands of people go into Quick Trips (Quick Trips seem to be the worst place to get a counterfeit bill.) here and receive counterfeit bills in change after they pay for something never knowing they have been given a fake bill.

Secondly they had no real way of knowing if the bill was in fact counterfeit. I have seen people think a bill printed in the 1950's was counterfeit because it looks different than money printed today. The ink test is not accurate, it can easily give a false positive. That is why the clerk should have obtained a copy of Mr. Floyd's ID or at the very least got his name and phone number so the Secret Service could have determined if the bill was counterfeit. If it was they would want to question him and find out where he got it. If is wasn't in fact counterfeit they would return the bill to him.

As I say this is the USA, I do not know how it is in Canada.
