May not be worth anything but in the 1950 Rochester City Directory Ione and Robert lived with Ione's mother Mildred at 418 1/2 1st ave SE apt 5.
He was a salesman and Mildred work at Model Landry

Ione father filed for divorce on grounds of desertion in 1950...which makes me wonder if something else was going on..
Wow this is info didn't know, Mildred died before my husband was born and that was 1951, brings up more questions I think.

Hello everybody :)
Yes, after the initial contact with NamUS, I've received nothing back. Although it could take up to a year to confirm? Either way, ruling out one more name is beneficial. I just hope Ione's case is resolved for Noch and csreh. So glad you guys found this thread and contributed all of the new information. This entire case reeks of police incompetence and the whole deal with the family ignoring at the reunion points to them knowing something about Ione or refusing to talk about the taboo of her disappearance.

Perhaps, like hanpap said, the next step is to find out which bar Ione may have worked in? If anyone knows of any records that are worthwhile to search for this, please let me know.

My husband said that his aunt Helen took him to a bar back in the 70's, on main street in Rochester and told him that was the last place his mother was seen. He doesn't remember the name of the bar but if anyone knows the names of some of them from the 70's he might remember if he heard it.

I can try to find out being from the area. Does he recall any other possible hints to the location? Was it near Mayo Hospital maybe? Or Kmart?

Now I think the bar theory might be more plausible.

Yes more questions, she died 29th January 1951, do you have a death certificate for cause of death?
The only other thing I can think of is getting Ione and Robert divorce records, it might add some light to what was happening around that time. I know first hand when I got my grandparents divorce record it was a very different story than my mother had been told!

Ione may have an affair if what her son telling truth about Robert was not his birth father, then this might be the reason they got divorced

Could there have been domestic violence? Resulting in her death? Or an accident that was covered up?

There are two stories being talked about here, the main one is Ione and Robert, the family member said they were divorced before she went missing.
The other is Iones mother Mildred. Just wondering which one you are referring too?

Don't know, she and her husband were divorced, and from the previous post, her husband was serving in the military (maybe fighting in Korea ? )when she disappeared, so I don't think her husband was a suspect

Definitely a strong possibility, the reason the divorce records can be important is it can name people involved at the time, so possibly could lead to clues *if* she did leave with someone.

If you want I have an account on find a grave and can make one for her. If you want to find those records than start a conversation on websleuths with a member named alb1on. He can find those records for you and he is the one who found Iones maiden name and date of birth.

What was Mildred’s date of birth?
