Born and raised in MN, far too familiar with the catholic hypocrisy and cover up. I attended one of the Catholic schools the pedo priests were regularly sent to when discovered at other parishes. I can name ten classmates (male) who were molested. It was known which priests to avoid. The coercion and cover up are inexcusable. I'm no longer catholic. Small "C" on catholic is intentional.

My hunch is that priests aren't connected to the Wetterling case, rather a past victim of a priest, a very close local. I've got nothing to base that on.

I agree that the perpetrator was molested by a local priest and that he was forever changed by that abuse. I believe that he constantly fantasized about abusing children Jacob's age who were also the age that he taught. I believe that he had a plan that he came up with in his fantasy that involved snatching a boy off the street if given the opportunity. Probably over the years he had seen boys come up the street during the day and thought about how he could grab one and take him back to his home to molest him. That fantasy was realized when DR's parents went away and he happened upon the boys as he went to his mailbox...I believe he may even have heard them talking about how nobody was home as they walked by while he was hiding in the underbrush (noise that Aaron heard) He was the only one who had that much time to put on a dark jacket, grab his mom's black pantyhose and pull over his head, grab a gun and walk down a private driveway to wait for boys return. The only one who did not leave foreign tire tracks on driveway, the only person who knew for sure that nobody would be coming down that driveway to interrupt the plan....

Ever since The Hunt, this forum has strayed away from this case in my opinion. Either John Walsh did absolutely no research for that show or there is a master plan that we don't know about. That show left out MANY important facts about this case and I personally was shocked at how poorly it was put together. I don't think it did Jacob's case any justice at all, and then it ended before you were ready and went to another case.

Jacob pounding away that last note on the piano, powerful.

Interesting for someone like me who is not Catholic. So kids knew there was something up.

I wonder if the priests communicated their likes with each other. Do priests go to confession?

Would a priest feel the need to confess such a thing?

The whole thing just boggles the mind. It is one thing for some creepy perv like the guy who took Jaycee , but to me it is another thing entirely when a man of god does it. The god is lower case because I refuse to say they are men of God.

Aargh. I know there is an article, and I think it was even posted on here somewhere, where Jennifer's actual talk at the college is printed.

How could I search for it on here?

On Feb 2011 , we were already talking that the clerk gave a talk. Her name is in the article in the St. John's newspaper.

That is what the info is on here for feb 2011 and march. So,if anyone is interested, the article is there somewhere. Where?

Not uncommon at harvest time . . . but grain buyers usually pay by check, don’t they?

Or was it an entirely different commodity, sold on a Sunday afternoon?

When you ask the right people the right questions, you might get answers, and you might get more questions . . .

There is a comment on Joy's blog where a girl talks about setting up an award dinner which the Wetterlings attended.

Let's see. That appears to be three different places the Wetterlings were at.

An arts dinner, a PTA affair and now this.

So how many different stories are out there about things related to the day!

Did DR mention the vehicle he saw that night to anyone? or did he wait until the next morning in the principals office?

Can anyone figure out how to find the article where the clerk gives her speech?

It doesn't really surprise me that students at St. Ben's, or even employees at Tom Thumb, say now that they don't recall hearing helicopters that night. If you look at the map, St. Ben's is approx. 1 mile away from the R farm - going cross country. So while the helicopters would have been very loud directly over DR's home, they wouldn't have heard them at all a mile away at St. Ben's, or probably even down at Tom Thumb which is 1/2 mile away from DR's home.

We have life flight helicopters which pass over our house on the way to the hospital, and unless they are directly over your house, you don't even notice them.

Link to map below. "A" is DR's residence, "B" is St. Ben's campus.

Prov. 11:14

We paid with cash when we had to buy additional grain, so did the farmers around us.

Assuming the "different commodity" was used for barter, I would be forced to look at two things:

1. It is an open facility with silo's and elevators. Generally there is a small office and a truck scale. It appears to me with my experience, that it is too open a facility to hide that sort of activity, and since most farmers are really nice people, they would have reported seeing anything that even hinted of child abuse...or even taken a pick ax handle and dealt with it on the spot. Oddly enough, I have seen the usually quiet Amish men step in to deal with problematic individuals at farm related facilities. Sooner or later, moving boys around like that would have drawn attention.

2. It would take a large group to manage such an operation in such a public place. Law Enforcement and Clergy would have stood out like a sore thumb in a farming facility.

This is really simple.

Dark night, 3 boys alone for the 1st time at night. A couple cars pass them on the way to Tom Thumb which were accounted for but NO cars passed them on the way back.

Boys did not see or hear a car leaving with Jacob nor were there strange cars parked on the road, up DR driveway or directly across DR driveway where the boys ran. NO UNIDENTIFIED TIRE TRACKS IN DR driveway after Kevin came foreword. So obviously, no car.

Who felt so comfortable laying in wait on DR driveway and then taking an abducted Jacob at gunpoint at least 40 feet up same driveway? Who knew FOR SURE that nobody would come walking/driving down that driveway? The only person home at the DR house knew for sure.

Who had access in 15-20 minute timeframe to black pantyhose who didn't use a car to get to abduction site? Who was interviewed by the local news asking if his mother owned black pantyhose and he said no...camera panned past black pantyhose hanging in bathroom.

Who did NOT respond to the abducted boy's heartbroken mother when she wrote him a letter asking him to contact her? Who NEVER even once called, sent a note or stopped by to offer this family support after their son (who is the same age as his students) is abducted at gunpoint at the end of his driveway? After all these years Patty Wetterling found DR at the gym to confront him. He never reached out to her, her husband or Jacob's siblings.

A boy is abducted from a teacher's driveway and all he can do the next morning is go through the crime scene tape and head to work as normal. He never once reached out in any way to the Wetterling family. Never.

Who called 911 2 hours after abduction and failed to mention a car that he said he saw when police confronted him at work the very next day? He did not mention a strange car that night or the next morning to cops on scene. Only when approached at his place of work did he come up with the idea that there was a car.
