Trino, Dr. Immelman, who is a professional profiler and has been a professor at St. John's for many years, has been analyzing the connection between Jacob Wetterling, Jared and Joshua among others. If you are interested in reading his analysis it can be found on his blog site -- just google his name it will show up.

The Red Carpet

What did it really mean?

Jareds perp who was said to be between 40 and 50 years old said he was late for an "appointment" at the Red Carpet. This to me is code talk for needing to get back to the church or abbey, where red carpet and catholic churches go hand in hand. I remember making a point last summer that this guys age and appearance has no business at the Red Carpet on a weekend night in St. Cloud, your typical crowd there is a bunch of 21 to 25 year old college students. And why would he tell Jared exactly where he was going? Well he was and he wasn't-

The best shot for getting potential evidence was DR's. The abbey was (and continues to be) very well protected by many different entities -- the entire place should have been searched from top to bottom. Then again the same could be said of DR's place. The only hope I have is that one of BW's or perhaps other monk's cohorts will get a conscience and speak up. I can just imagine the justification they might go through in their minds about how it's not their place to judge and it's between God and the perpetrator etc. I call that a lie of omission and a cop out. The families deserve the truth. As I've mentioned before, I had a conversation with an editor at the Star Trib several years ago in an effort to encourage further investigation. She became silent and put up a wall that told me she wasn't going to go there. Neither would the Department of Education, and many other govt agencies. Not going to touch the church. The answers have to come from within the abbey. Imagine if all the church's cabins and properties in the other parts of MN were searched. How about the tunnels and other underground areas of St. John's. BW knew the grounds like the back of his hand. What did the sheriff find in his room after it was searched? He hasn't divulged a thing about it. And here we are, still trying to solve puzzles with so many missing pieces.

Wow!!! Sizzle!

Sociopaths have no conscience.

And others who do are afraid of any number of things.

Maybe one day.....

There is a Red Carpet Bar and Grill in Sauk Centre, MN, also, besides the well known club in St. Cloud.

IMO, no one was talking about a church, but I have to give you credit for creative ideas. :)

The perp wouldn't necessarily have to be a 21-25 year old to go to the Red Carpet, the smaller "Lounge Bar" in the Carpet draws a somewhat older crowd. Or he could have been a workman - they were always doing some sort of remodeling there. Or he could have been a radio announcer - working with the bands.

Who is molesting children at the time? Regular laborers, radio DJ's, or is it monks who can vanish back into isolation from the rest of the world?

I am aware of this, but he is not anyone in law enforcement, which was my reference. He also, from what I recall, is not investigating any particular religious figure at SJU - again my reference.

ALL of the above. 3 suspects were regular laborers, one was a radio DJ, and while we may suspect priests and monks (and we know in hindsight they were molesting kids) - I'm not sure if LE ever looked very hard at any of them.

It is more than likely true that the monks were not looked at during that time. After all, the abbot was keeping the abbey's secrets just between him and the other church leaders. It wasn't until victims gradually came forward that the abbot was forced into acknowledging publicly the criminal actions of the monks -- only, in the church, these actions aren't treated as though they are crimes. I guess they supposed it was the victims' responsibility to forgive and forget.

Trino, I think Dr. Immelman has sharpened his lens on certain monks, but he is at the same disadvantage as everyone else in terms of not knowing their alibis for certain dates. He has spoken to the sheriff and other authorities, but again, law enforcement has never been inclined to pursue anything within St. John's -- at least not without great pressure -- and even then, they can only hear what they are told, not what is kept hidden. The church apparently operates under a different set of laws than the rest of us.

I am currently reading through Patrick Walls blog and info he has linked. He was at St John's at the time Jacob was abducted.

A significant problem for investigators is that for nearly fifteen years they held the belief that Jacob’s October 1989, case was related to Jared’s Cold Spring January 1989, case. Investigators have suggested that Rassier was a suspect from the very beginning of the Wetterling investigation. What is puzzling about that is that Rassier has a solid alibi for the night Jared was assaulted. Rassier was playing a music show with Betty Wolf at the American Legion in Eden Valley on the night of January 13, 1989. If Rassier could not have been Jared’s assailant, then it seems contradictory that investigators were certain of a link between the two cases, and that they considered Rassier a suspect from the beginning of the Wetterling investigation.

I think everything was and still is on the table. But yeah Rassier is not Jareds guy. Is someone else both Jacob and Jareds guy?

Who are the Paynesville suspects? DAH?

  • #516
I think as far as Paynesville, the real assaults have to be culled from the ones that are highly likely to be something else, as in nothing.

That's one of the million dollar questions, my friend.

I'm not clear if le thinks any crimes occurred in Paynesville

According to the name of this lake (Kraemer Lake) and the vicinity it is from St Johns, how embedded might the Kraemer name be with the Catholic church?
