I think it was someone local who was affiliated with the hockey scene. I do not think Jacob and Josh's cases are the same perp. I think Josh was probably someone with the Abbey and Jacob/Jared were someone local to Cold Spring, Paynesville/St Joseph who was involved with hockey.

I still don't understand why Stearn's county Sheriff believes that criminal acts by monks upon children is "out of our jurisdiction."

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/25...-defends-st-johns-headmaster-accused-of-abuse

Quote from that article:

Although they tried to file a police report, the McDermids say the Stearns County Sheriff's Office told them the alleged abuse was out of their jurisdiction."

That is Absolutely Unbelievable!!! He needs to be challenged on that! Who does he claim has jurisdiction? That's unbelievable! That was just a few months ago; June 2014. If it's outside of his jurisdiction then he needs to direct the complainants to where to file the report!

It is unbelievable, what is going on?

I wonder if the Church is claiming "diplomatic immunity"? That would make it out of out of the jurisdiction of all but Federal Agencies, and even then the agencies hands are tied by international rules.

I have been posting about this case much too long - from the day this happened - and have no confidence that this crime will ever be solved. I can only vaguely imagine how the Wetterlings feel. Prayers always for them.

Jacob, why didn't you scream, yell, fight like a madman? Why didn't you leave a clue? I guess it was because you were frightened, because you were 11 years old, and because neither you nor no one else was prepared for this to happen in a town like St. Joe's.

He was 75 pounds. He was a child.

What difference would have it made if a 75 pound child screamed or did anything to a man?

And who would have heard him or come to his rescue?

And maybe he did fight. How do we know?

That is troubling, Sasquatch. FBI was there ... LE .... couldn't track Jacob down; was this crime planned to the "t" so that any potential evidence was covered up? It must have been. Someone knew what they were doing -- or at least put a lot of thought into how they were going to do it.

How? That was the first time ever the boys went down that route at night.

Plus it was totally spur of the moment

Is there a law that exempts the church from laws? Where is it?

This sure is something that needs to be investigated.

There is separation of church and state.

Is the Church claiming sexual abuse is part of their religion?

If so, they should announce it

How can that be true because many Catholic priests were prosecuted have gone to jail. I think the sheriff is not being truthful. Why would any crime be out of his jurisdiction if it's in Stearns Co?

Bring down the wall. Is this the separation of church from state?

Lots of conflict of interest involved. I, too, don't understand how it works where some priests are prosecuted in certain locations and others are not. The only reason I bring up St. John's is to say I'm frustrated it was never investigated so that it could be summarily ruled out in Jacob's case. Would the FBI have been allowed to access the secret files I wonder?

Dallas Charter in '02 stopped the jurisdictional arguments previously made by certain parts of the Roman Curia and particularly Cardinal Law in Boston.

My suggestion would be to speak to the Nuns--very little gets past them, but it normally takes an insider or liquor to get them talking.

Patrick Wall, the St. John's monk turned victims advocate was out of the country in 1989 so he is unable to shed light on the environment at the Abbey during that time. It appears that he is suspicious of all of the unusual cases involving murders/disappearances in the area and is hoping as we are that someday soon the truth comes out of the Abbey.

Does anyone else thing that the 2009 death of BW and the 2010 naming of a POI are closely related. I think it is about enough time to read the damaged hard drive of a computer

I think a lot of progress has been made uncovering the secrets of the Abbey lately.

I think he could still talk to people today who were there, get a conversation going among the innocent priests at the time and see if we can tie the vehicle to someone.
