Tinner007, one would think the FBI would know the type of shoe.

Would love to know what kind of shoe this is!!

Really tried to imagine being a POI in one of these cases today. What an absolute nightmare. Thanks for the perspective Tinner

Problem being is the FBI hasn't informed the public what shoe it may be we are to try and remember.... If they're not willing to share it's up to us to put together the pieces we have in an attempt to bring closure to the Wetterlings, the community, the country, and the world for that matter.

Not sure how many have seen this photo of the Berlin wall taken by Kelli Birk March 2, 1990

There is so much to talk about in ELOCs book but I have to wait until I have my paper copy in front of me. I am more of a hands on visual person and need to bookmark pages and flip back and forth.

I think it is very difficult to critique a book when the author is a long time poster on this thread. It is easier if you didn't know the author or have a personal relationship with them and could do it objectively. I applaud ELOC for getting more info out into the public, especially the info about Hollinger. I know if anyone would write a book about my family without being a family member or working with a family member, I would be highly suspicious of the motives, reason and be very nit-picky and biased. So many people have tried to hurt the family emotionally and financially- extortion, people claiming to be Jacob, etc. I don't blame them for having a thick wall.

Yeh...how bout it? It was discussed eons ago....maybe you should read previous WS posts-just a suggestion. Sorry to be abrupt....but this has been discussed....Trackergd has made many posts regarding the available physical evidence of tire tracks/footprints.

His book will stand. It's only time that will be required.

Its a strange shoe, maybe a pair given to the rassier family of 8. Is it a dairy boot or shoe with slip resistance? Could these be monk issued apparel?

I agree with tinner that they are a flat sole, no hear print, much like a deck shoe, sandal (monk), 1970's military boot sole, chukka boot etc pattern. I know I have seen many of the same style patterns on cheap sneaker in big box stores.

Yea, we discussed this a lot way back. I was never able to find an exact match for this pattern in car tires....even contacted all the major manufacturers and showed it to a bunch of old timer tire shops. It sorta looks like the tire used on the old Honda ATC's of that era...and that would confuse the heck out of most folks as there would be three tire tracks, not two or four.

Edited to add: The FBI at that time, had a good record of most tire patterns as they were using tire track evidence in many cases.

Just an opinion on DR as POI. If technology is present to determine probable guilt in this MN case, why isn't this so in the items taken from DR's farm? Or, is it likely, there is no link to DR, and LE is keeping quiet.

http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3759087.shtml?cat=1

"Police used an X-ray radar that could pinpoint bone fragments in the ground. Inside a freezer in the basement, blood stains and human tissue were discovered on a box. DNA tests confirmed they belonged to Toni. Authorities say the evidence pointed to a violent death...

After all these years, advances in technology and the persistence of Ramsey County investigators made all the difference."

The key word is "persistence".

So I was just doing some reading and saw this on a post from the group "Never Forget Me/"Bring me Home"

"It's gotten quicker, it's gotten more accurate and so its allowed us to do more with cases, although some people still seem to think you know if we did DNA testing back then there's nothing more we can do and that's not really true. We can do it with smaller samples, we can do a lot of different things, that's changed," Contra Costa County District Attorney Mark Peterson said.
Officials say DNA evidence pointed to Huff, but it was also extensive in-person interviews with him that led to the new charges.

---------------------
One of the cases they're referring to in which DNA testing was done occurred in 1987. So 30 years ago this man committed a murder (would not be his last one either), and while LE believed it was him, they wanted to do more testing, as well as further interviews to obtain more information.

Okay so now fast forward to 2010 -- apparently the technology five years ago was still insufficient to identify DNA on whatever items LE took from DR's farm.

Does LE have any other potentially incriminating information from sources that has not been told to the public? They named DR a POI. Has LE been withholding additional information? Would they even tell the public if they were?

When would LE expect technology to be updated? I still believe they are covering a bit of incompetence. If the abductor is still alive, he probably won't be around for round two (or round three).

I think before criticizing by anyone, the book should be read and the problems shown.

As you may be aware, I do not hesitate to call out BS on here no matter who posts it.

I see ZERO in his book that is of any concern.

Please identify what the concerns are so we can discuss them instead of putting out innuendo

DR says after he searched the buildings on the farm property and returned to the farmhouse, law enforcement was everywhere.

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2013/...est-goes-through-day-of-wetterling-abduction/

There seems to be a discrepancy here between 2 reports of this incident...

In the interview Esme Murphy quoted DR:
"Rassier says after he searched the buildings on the farm property and returned to the farmhouse, law enforcement was everywhere".

In Joy's blog 'Dan's Story' Joy quotes DR:
"He heads down the road/driveway and searches the outbuildings. Every one of them. You would think there would be cops everywhere, but Dan said there were not. A helicopter was searching the woods and fields around his house, but as far as he knows, there were no cops who came down into the yard all night...just the few up by the woodpile earlier."

IMO, that is where the confusion in stories comes from. Not sure which version is correct, since they were both quoting DR?
