If it's to be interpreted literally(I think it probably is), then I - like Wisdom, above - see two possibilities:

1.) There was another vehicle at the site, even if that isn't currently proven;

2.) It was D.R.

I suppose they could be saying, "in code," that they now believe #2 is correct.

I wonder, how did they rule out the driver of the "proven" vehicle as a suspect? I don't think they even identified him for 10+ years.

The euphemism could be #1 or #2 or both. "in code" could mean both or either/or. As for the driver of the "proven" tracks...they never did identify him....at least as far as we know...his tracks were never publicly identified until 'Kevin' came forward. Think beyond.

Why can't we prove by now what happened on that driveway? What do they see? With the print field we see, how was it logical to change to someone on foot? I see the evidence of a parked car as well.

Great post! How bout it Sterns County? Over 20 years later and neither you, Federal or State Agencies have moved an inch on this case. What can it hurt to have some fresh eyes look at the print evidence?

From what I can see from all the photographs and video screen shots, it looks like the only prints that can be confirmed to be Jacobs appear next to the tire tracks. I have seen no evidence that there are any of his prints between the abduction point and his last prints which to me suggest he was carried. This could be confirmed by looking at all of the SCSD pictures and picking out the abductors prints. They ARE there somewhere. If the abductors prints end where Jacobs do, this would confirm the car. If they continue on down the driveway to the farm, you do not need to be Sherlock Holmes to put the pieces together.

I cannot fathom how Kevin's tracks were excluded when the technology to do so was still in it's infancy at that time. The FBI Documentation Division was struggling identifying tire and foot prints during that period (Green River Killer - Gary Ridgway), so much so that they were consulting with outside Tracking consultants like Tom Brown Jr for advice. If the FBI was having difficulty, how did SCSD eliminate tire prints...10 years later? I consulted with the FBI on prints in two cases here in PA during the same era.

Why couldn't they identify these tracks? And obviously, some would be much older because of other tracks driving over them.

No vehicle can drive exactly over the same course as that of another. So there would be tell tale signs of what tracks went where.

For instance, say it is a milk truck. It would go to the barn of milk, not the house.

But were they even doing the farm anymore? DR does not indicate any farm chores on his part.

So who was doing any of the farm stuff while the parents were away?

If there was a person, was he checking things out for the evening?

I see where cGorg is going with his print theory, Interesting thinking in a totally other way. It is like looking at an Escher art work. The other spaces have meaning. Hm. Something to contemplate on that.

And if it is true that there was so much trouble identifying tire tracks back then, the perp would have no idea that tire tracks were of critical importance.

Even though people think I think it is DR, I am merely trying to figure out why he is the LE POI.

Just because someone is a great guy like John Wayne Gacy or Ted Bundy or the BTK , it does not mean much in the scooe of things.

What makes you say that? This case is nothing different in that LE keeps thngs silent. Think of the latest--- Barway. The stuff that LE knew and the witnesses as well. Wow.

Tinner disciovered that the prints probably belonged to LE. It was discussed a bit ago on here.

No doubt the pictures were taken when the media was allowed onto the crime scene. It was probably a photo op

That is a contaminated crime scene. I can even pick out horse shoe prints....and of course this is when they take the plaster casts....after it's contaminated. But trust me...if Jacobs prints are there, so are the abductors.

And it struck me from the last picture, the two closest spots to dispose of the body are DR's woods and the lake next to the party spot. If it were me, I would tear up both looking for any evidence.

I do believe a car was involved, and there was more than one perp to abduct Jacob. The boys were frightened, and running on adrenaline, and likely did not see or hear a car.

If Jacob was physically picked up by the perp, would the dogs lose his scent? Could he have been carried to another driveway/road where the getaway car was parked?

If the car was parked on the driveway, where Jacob's footprint was seen next to a tire track, could the driver have waited a moment until the boys were 1/4 mile into their run. The perp told the boys to run, and not look back...."Or I'll shoot"! That would scare the you know what out of a child, and they would by flying to get home!

I remember when my brother scared me by knocking on my bedroom window from outside. He was on an attached deck on the second floor. I was so scared, that I jumped the whole flight of stairs, hitting my head on the way down. I did not think of anything except getting away from the man on my porch....which later turned out to be my brother playing a joke on me. Not a good joke, but fortunately my other brother didn't stab him when he came around the corner with a knife to save the day.

Your theory changes some of the few facts we know. Namely that three boys were approached by one man. Furthermore, the boys did not see a car.

Very few violent kidnappings occur in tandems, so why is it necessary to create more complicated reality by having multiple perps and a car on the driveway?

Obviously only one perp abducted him. That doesn't mean others weren't helping to set the abduction up (just my opinion, and not a fact), and there was a tire track with Jacob's footprint near it--------------->In the driveway.

What disturbs me is that DR told a reporter from another station that he didn't go to bed, and went to check the out buildings. Which is it, and why is he telling two different reporters different stories? The link is on this thread on one if my posts.
