I'm just hearing about this case now. I've read through the thread.

Praying for a safe return.

It sounds like there was a specific issue going on just before she went missing:

"The nature of that conversation was me checking in with her because she had a difficult set of personal circumstances that she had been dealing with recently. I was checking in with her how she was to see how she was doing, to see what kind of support she needed," said Milliard. "My concern is that the struggles she was experiencing may have made her more vulnerable to people who prey on people in those kinds of situations."

An image of Jessicas' tattoo would be really helpful. Hopefully KM has taken their info to LE.

It would be really great to hear from family and friends, to know certain details. I can't find much of anything. Boyfriend/gf? Dating? Work status? Hobbies? MH or other health concerns? Drug use or affiliations to this kind of thing?

For a woman to be taken from her own home like this is terrifying. It's been almost a month. Midwinter, no proper clothing, no ID or phone? Hopefully more answers come soon.

‘Very Out Of Character’: Friends Of Missing Minneapolis Woman Jessica Marshik Canvas Neighborhood – WCCO | CBS Minnesota (cbslocal.com)
[...]

“Jessica is real lively and energetic. She is passionate and spunky,” said her friend KM.

Nearly a month after her sudden disappearance, friends of Marshik are taking matters into their own hands. They spent Saturday distributing hundreds of flyers around the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood and talking with neighbors.

“For her to just go missing and not communicate with people, very, very out of character,” KM said.

[...]

The group is planning to hold a candlelight vigil on Friday, Jan. 14 to mark one month since her disappearance.

This may be a silly question . . . but there is Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri.

@jessfriend / @silsby: to which cities did Jessica have ties?

TIA.

ETA: Found the answer in her LinkedIn profile. She has ties to the University of Missouri (UMKC) School of Law.

Interesting that her experience as a Career Advisor at UMKC Law is 8 years and 6 months - 2013 to present.

My opinion only . . . she cares about this type of job and she plans on continuing her education at UMKC. If this is the case, why did she rent an apartment in Minneapolis? Was a friend or family member ill and needed help?

I lived in the next door St Anthony apartment building 4 years ago (I haven't been back since). I was never in her building but the buildings are very similar. I read through the thread and wanted to answer some questions about the location.

Laundry was in a shared space in the basement. In that building, I'm not sure how close it was to an exit but probably not far.
At the time, I think they only had cameras in the main office. Apartment building was overstaffed and they fixed maintenance issues quickly. I never had a problem with other tenants. Walls are concrete and I rarely heard my neighbors.
It's by a college so most people move out in August/September. Leases are yearly leases, no month to month. It would be very rare that someone would move out mid month but it could happen if they needed to break their lease.
The area has a lot of theft. I left my car unlocked one night and someone went through it.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the area. Happy to hear the hired a PI

Thank you for clarifying that! Also RBBM to say *THIS*. How long had Jessica been living here for? If her work experience was "Career Advisor at UMKC" how could she do her job whilst living in another state? Did Covid affect her job status?

Question: How/who would know what was and wasn't missing? If Jessica had a second winter coat, other boots, an old phone etc, who would know?

Hi all! I’m very sick right now, might be Covid, but I will try to catch up on what I missed when I’m feeling better.

Kansas City, MO is where she has ties/where she spent time in late October into early November.

I'm guessing her LinkedIn is just outdated. One of the news videos said she was working at Racial Justice Network which is based in Minnesota

While things have been pretty quiet on here lately, I'd recommend reading through the recent postings on the public Facebook page, "Finding Jessica Marshik." There have been some pretty interesting comments on there just in the last day or so, e.g. someone who lives in a neighboring apartment building (owned by the same company as Jessica's building) providing insights about the layout of those buildings, etc.

Have they been able to review her phone? If she was having issues as one of her friends talked about, certainly phone or texts could reveal something more.

I would think LE has her phone (IIRC, it was left behind in her open apartment). Hopefully, they are looking into her calls and texts.

JMVHO.

Yes, let's hope. this is what I am worried about in this case! Not enough gumption to pull out all the stops before it's too late.
I so hope they were able to collect all the nearby footage in time.

From what I've read, she lives on the second floor. From a quick survey of Google maps it appears that most of the apartment buildings in that area have indoor hallways. It's been reported that her door was not only unlocked, but ajar. I have been trying to think of all of the possible scenarios for how this unfolded. Here is what I have come up with:

1. She left her apartment for a quick, nearby errand. Maybe she was taking out the trash or returning something to a neighbor. But why would she disappear? Was someone lurking, waiting for an opportunity? And why not pull the door closed even if your not locking it.

2. Someone came to her door and requested immediate assistance with an emergency. She seems like the type who would drop everything to help. But again why did she disappear? Was this a ruse to get her out of her apartment?

3. She may have met someone online, at a bar, or at one of the RJN rallies and had invited them for a visit, or they showed up unexpected. This would explain how they got buzzed up to her apartment. Maybe this person did not have her best interest at heart and abducted her and engaged in foul play. There was a struggle and that's why the door was ajar.

I'm leaning towards scenario #3, mainly because they needed to be buzzed through the apartments front door to get access to her apartment. MOO

The simplest: she liked restaurants. Order from Ubereats or Door Dash?. If her phone is inside, at least makes sense to check through these apps. And in general, there are lots of deliveries made these days. People tend to open doors if they are hungry and waiting for food.

So anyone in the building could have ordered food delivery and been let in the building? Wow. Hadn't thought of that. MOO

Circumstances of Disappearance
Jessica last had contact on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 and hasn’t been heard from since. It is extremely out of character for her to not check in regularly with family and friends.
She lives alone in a secure apartment building in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood in SE Minneapolis.
Her 2nd floor apartment door was found unlocked and ajar with all her belongings left behind, including her purse, keys, wallet, phone, laptop, winter coat, and boots.
Her car was also left behind and parked by her apartment building. She would frequent bars, restaurants, and stores on foot in her neighborhood.
