It's been about a month since we gave you the information that members of the FBI, Anoka County Sheriff's Office, Columbia Heights Police Department, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were searching an Elk River landfill for clues into the disappearance of a Twin Cities boy. After several weeks of rain and extreme heat, the search is still ongoing.

:( :( :( This is so sad. Sending prayers for his mom and all of his loved ones.

A 16-year-old Twin Cities boy missing since early May has been found dead, authorities said Tuesday.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said the remains of Jordan Dupree Collins Jr. — known by the nickname Manny — were found over the weekend. The cause of Collins' death has not yet been determined.

If anyone is able to catch the presser, please advise if they are calling this officially a homicide. I'm assuming that's what it is but you know what they say about assuming things...

In the sheriff's words (or close to it) "A dead body ended up in the land fill......draw your own conclusions."

Wow - pretty blunt. I mean that's probably what we all assume at this point - just wondering if they had made it official. Thanks for the info tho!

I had a major coughing spell during the press conference, and the sound of my coughing drowned out much of the sound of the voices. Will have to watch a replay later. I did hear the sheriff say that what drew the investigation to the landfill, was video evidence that was made available to them that showed what appeared to be a body had been put into a dumpster in Columbia Heights. Their investigation showed that a truck had taken that dumpster to the landfill on May 13.

I'm wondering if their video evidence showed a person actually putting the body in the dumpster.

When he was asked if we can expect an arrest to be made soon, he said that it depends on the results of forensics and that there is still a lot of testing to do.

around the 6:00 mark: information led to video that showed evidence suggesting a body "made its way" into a dumpster and then into a garbage truck which spurred the landfill search.

6:30 mark: ? Is Jordan Collins, Sr. still in the are and is he still cooperating with investigators? ANSWER: We are still talking to Jordan Collins, Sr., so yes.

? Is he still a POI? ANSWER: I'm going to step aside from that question for a moment as its still a part of the ongoing investigation but of course the next stage for us is getting from, the place now that we are at, where we found the body, that's an important piece. There's lots of other forensic and medical examination that needs to be done before we take teh next steps, but uh, we're happy with the progress that's been made in the investigation until we get an arrest.

? can you more narrow down like when you found the remains - Saturday or Sunday?

ANSWER: Yeah, the human body was found on Saturday afternoon and it took some time to make the DNA verification and that DNA verification happened yesterday.

? Where all of his remains recovered?

ANSWER: It's too, uh it's important that we maintain the integrity of the investigation so I am going to step aside from that question if you don't mind.

?about a suspect, do you have a person of interest right now? . . .

ANSWER: Yes, yes

(declines to answer questions about Manny's last known movements or whether he was staying with his father prior to his going missing)

11:15 mark
?about the suspect, person of interest conversation, you spoke earlier about his father, but in general, forget about his father, is there a POI in this case? I think you alluded to that earlier . .

ANSWER: yeees, Yes, there is a person of interest.

?but you won't say who that is?

ANSWER: That's correct.

[will only confirm the dumpster in question was in Columbia Heights and leaves it at that, won't divulge specific location of said dumpster.)

12:25 mark
?is this now a murder investigation?

ANSWER: Well a dead body wound up in a landfill, so, um, I guess, draw your own conclusion, Yes.

As well, from the presser, working closely with the DA...

Sense an arrest is nigh. Soon or as soon as toxicology comes back.

Manny's great-grandmother, Mary Berry, said his father called her on May 8. That's the day police say Manny was last seen.

Berry says Manny's father insisted he put Manny on a bus outside his apartment in Columbia Heights heading to her place in St. Paul.

"Three hours passed, I called him back and I said, he hasn’t made it yet," explained Berry. "He assured me he put him on that bus."

Berry's mother reported him missing four days later.

"I miss my great-grandson because we were close, very close," said Berry, who learned the news on Monday.

He put his son on a bus to his grandmothers when he had custody? Was this coordinated with the the boy's Mom? I doubt it. A purchase of a ticket should be fairly easy to verify and the bus station should have video.

Manny Collins honored in Columbia Heights vigil after his body was found

“I want to say, thank you, everybody, for coming and supporting Manny… Thank y’all so much, for real,” Ashley, Manny’s mother, said.
