Michelle Bachmann seems to have some power and she supposedly is for families.

Has anyone ever approached her about attacking this issue?

I'd like to see an answer from her on this issue.

Did Josh know a victim of BW?

Concentric, there's much we don't know about what Josh knew -- for example, did one of Josh's friends have a bad experience with BW -- did Josh see or experience something. We know Josh was researching the statute of limitations regarding sexual abuse at St. John's -- what was his reason for doing that? Around 2002/2003 BW allegedly told someone he was "in love" with one of his students -- who was that student. Did anyone ever review missing males in other parts of the country and check to see if BW was in those locales at the time the young men went missing? Where was BW on the night Josh went missing? BW spent many, many years working on the grounds of St. John's -- he knew the place like the back of his hand -- could he have hidden some "trinkets" in those places? What about the cabins -- we know the monks regularly used them -- were they ever checked? To my knowledge the sheriff did none of this -- because, from day one, he operated under the premise that the abbey wasn't in any way connected to Josh's disappearance. How come so many others could see the possible connection, but the sheriff couldn't -- or wouldn't? If I could discern it from the beginning, surely he should have been able to -- and I didn't know a single thing about St. John's at that time ... so many unanswered questions, so many lies .... if you ever want to witness how the Guimonds were treated, search online for the meeting they had with the Stearns County board of supervisors -- just the most unfeeling, apathetic group of people -- truly a heartbreaking thing to behold

Does the family have possession of Josh's computer?

If so, have they had a neutral professional scour it?

Deleted files are not really deleted........

This case is infuriating. I can only imagine what his family has gone through.

Another thought...........someone mentioned that his friends did not want to comment on this case. Why?

If it were my friend, I would comment on it every chance I got UNLESS I felt extreme danger or was threatened--(then my comments might be more anonymous)

The reason I bring this up is the question of who or what made Josh look into past sexual abuse in the first place.....and my bet is on one of his non commenting friends, provided this is true.

The link as to WHY he became interested in the first place is critical. Another angle would be that it was a person in power who said or did something--and Josh shared some info with his friends.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that a friend or acquaintance knows something.

If I were researching something as powerful as that it would have been very likely that I shared my thoughts with someone.

That someone may have even inadvertently put Josh on someone's radar.......

He was on someone's radar and was considered a threat IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if the computer savvy file eraser reads all of these boards and if you are reading and a religious person--may I just remind you....

God sees everything. Sooner or later, you will get burned.

mysterygirl- the family did have someone look at Josh's computer after sherriff sanner said there was nothing on it. I think it was a Channel 9 computer forensic person who looked at it. It showed his roommate used it to look up how to "wash" a computer's hard drive and he used it to delete files. All campus computers had to be on the same network to get the free internet. I believe the network administrator kept tabs on Josh for some reason and told the student to delete the files. There was also a picture of some older guy on it. I am trying to figure out if the family has identified the man in the picture.
What if (and this is a BIG what if) Josh started having a relationship with BW, another monk found out, got rid of Josh to prevent another campus scandal and then got rid of BW. BW admitted to an SJU grad in 2001 that he had fallen in love with a student. No one knows who it was.
The sherriff sealed off BW's room and searched it after his death to see if they could find any connection to Josh or Jacob's disappearances. He died in 2009. Sherriff Sanner refuses to make the findings public. He better do the right thing and not cover anything up for the Abbey. Any and all important info should be made public.

Three young men are abducted/disappear/assaulted in a close radius around St. John's abbey -- what are the odds that three young men: Jacob, Jared, Joshua -- all vanish or are sexually attacked -- and, just by coincidence, known sex offenders are housed at St. John's. I wonder, when the sheriff started his investigation, how did he miss that fact?

Also, who else might BW have been consorting with - within or outside of the abbey? Think about it -- someone like BW may have known some unsavory people -- did anyone ever really look into BW's off campus exploits? What might they have found had they delved deeply into BW's travels in and around Collegeville? Who associated with BW behind the scenes -- or even publicly? Who did he spend time with (secretly?) outside of the abbey? What exactly was he involved in? Someone knows...

Who may have had a grudge against Joshua? Did BW? Could it be that BW enlisted others to help abduct Joshua? What do you think?

  • #212
Last thought for now -- did anyone ever notice the resemblance between BW and the artists' rendition of the suspect in the Wetterling case? If you did, you would be in good company...

  • #213
I wish I knew the answers to your questions- especially who BW hung out with. I wish I knew if he had a gravelly voice. From what I read about another priest- Fr E, he could have also been the Wetterling abductor. He had reports, very specific and honest reports of raping children at knifepoint (girls and boys). He denies any wrongdoing to this day.

Good points, JBrown -- and -- I know it's important to keep one's mind open to all the possibilities. The thing I wonder about BW -- the only reason we know *anything* about his nefarious activities is because he was "outed" about them, so to speak. The bigger question is -- what are all the things we have not been told and may never know now that BW is gone...methinks he was masterful in his machinations -- practiced and precise -- meticulous and methodical -- and as cold as cold can be --

Yes, and this Father G. is suspect to me also. My personal theory is DR (in the Jacob W. case) was having an affair with one of these priests or monks, and that's how he's involved. (I've mentioned this previously on Jacob's thread.) BW sounds like he was very involved in Josh's disappearance. Any word on any of the news outlets doing a story on this yet?

  • #217
Shergal, that's what I've been thinking -- that there may possibly be a connection between DR & BW -- and -- very possibly -- others in the community who may have participated in criminal type behavior. I have a suspicion that BW may have consorted with some very bad people...This whole thing is a puzzle, and we are connecting the dots. But one thing we are missing is evidence -- and that's where an individual with a conscience comes in -- we need someone to get their courage up and do the right thing....how long will it take, I wonder

Immelman was going to tackle this topic if he got elected.

Can anyone hold Michelle Bachman's feet to the fire and have her spearhead a look into this?

  • #219
Do you think a victim of BW could have killed BW? Maybe he knows something about what happened to Josh, but is not speaking out.
