I shudder that even in Canada police have to be trained to be ready for an ambush.....this one struck particularly close to home for me. There have been many more. Much, much more difficult for people to obtain firearms in Canada, but still, a routine traffic stop can turn deadly. I am in no way saying that Noor was justified in shooting Justine.....but I don't think this should turn into blue bashing either.....there are many good cops out there and they do have to be on alert.......this whole situation sucks. MOO

Yes and these situations happen way too often IMO.

You said you do not think it was accidental. So why did he kill Justine on purpose?

I think it is really a stretch given the little we know right now to call this an "accident" at this point. He shot to kill based on some perceived fear ...it has no justification. They would not be talking about being startled etc. unless they are setting up a self defense...this all hinges on what Harrity has said...Noor will tailor his story to what was said...I am not clear how much access or his atty have to Harrity's story. I hope little but bet his attorney is getting more than the public.

How would i know?

You said you thought he had his gun ready and expected to shoot and you don't think it was accidental... so, why don't you think it was accidental? And if you don't think it was accidental, why would he intentionally shoot her?

I don't think human is the one who said this wasn't an accident. It was a question for Karinna who said:

I would think he knew what he was exactly doing to have his gun at the ready to shoot, because that's exactly what he did. I do not think it was accidental.

It was the first tier suburbs that were affected before. It seems like people are moving to places that are further out. But then the city is popular to young professionals and the retired.

well the first tier suburbs are having their issues for sure...but still are basicallly considered good places to buy a home...I would say the suburbs perceived to be the safest are further out....Minnetonka...Wayzata...Woodbury so many more. But a major trend is an area called North Loop which is surrounded by many high crime areas including downtown...mostly apartments and condos and considered the in spot to live for young professionals...very high rents. This could have happened anywhere. I am really questioning the venom against the police chief who was really trying to get the situation under control...she herself spent many years on the worst beats in town...if there is any "agenda" going on here I think it may be political.

Yes, that is the right of the American citizens. And most gun owners are responsible people.

Well I wish it were not...and while it is a fair statement to say most gun owners are responsible people...anyone can get one...simply anyone and the kind of guns that are meant for war...and it has changed how people interact ...frankly I don't look left or right anymore and let small irritations whether in a car or on foot just go...you simply have no way to know who could open fire. I don't like what is happening. Given what has been written and said about Justine and her comments about guns in this country I am certain she and her fiance are not gun owners...but police just can't assume because somehow approaches their car it is an ambush....I don't know even how training is going to change this.

Could she have meant 'not accidental' as in he didn't accidentally pull the trigger? He meant to shoot but he thought it was a threat, not an innocent?

IMO If it was "accidental" it wouldn't have been an upper torso kill shot. To discharge a firearm accidentally from a gun on your lap the bullet would of probably gone through the car door and if it had of gone right through the door and hit someone standing up, probably hit them in the leg if at all.
I also stated "I don't think it was accidental".

Did she?

It seems like that is what she meant. She just posted that it was probably not an 'accidental' shot from the gun.

If the report of the "banging on the car" is true, and it certainly sounds plausible, Noor should still be charged with manslaughter. That banging and appearing at the window is not sufficient to make him reasonably believe he was in imminent danger. My guess is that he just pulled up his firearm, pointed and fired, knee jerk reaction without really thinking. But that is still manslaughter. From the reports that are coming out, it sounds like the MPD and some of the other city governance is in a shambles and has been for a while. The former chief seems to have been ineffective in improving things.

If it is not accidental, then what is your theory. If not this, then that. Why?

Do not confuse Castile with this. The Chief is not chief of that area.

a friend of mine used to live in a condo in the loop. she moved out to Stillwater because she was tired of the crime moving in from outside her hood.

Their windows were down. Surely she wasn't just walking up quietly behind the car and then smacking it. I'm sure she was calling out to them and they had to have heard her.
