Really? People are upset that her house was searched but people were digging into Castile's life. Was there front page news of the little sleeping girl shot by LE? How about the Edwards teen? There was a thread on WS about him but hardly any comments. How about the Native man? What is his name ? Bearears is it? How many comments on here ? Is he front page news?
The difference is glaring.
People of color are shot and it is expected. No big deal. But now when a white woman is shot and even better, by a black man, there is an international outrage. It is glaring
I hope that if he is convicted that there is no backlash. It seems like BLM is supporting Justine. I hope more whites will start having some insight to the difficulties of being black in America.
Wait, what?! I see a LOT of outrage (and protests, and marches, and even violence) when a white cop shoots a person of color. Oddly enough I haven't seen a bunch of white people marching, protesting and saying "Eff the police" since Justine's shooting.

While I’m sitting here, I might as well wait for the All Lives Matter people to explain how we don’t know the whole story. Blue Lives Matter will probably come out en masse, too, to defend the honor of the Somali cop who shot her. If they don’t care about race, then the All Lives Matter advocates will implore us to wait until authorities do their due diligence. That’s probably what’s going to happen, right?
In just six days, Justine Ruszczyk’s death uprooted the entire government of the 46th-largest city in America. Two countries are outraged. People of all colors, religions and ethnicities are protesting.
They all have a right to be upset, but we should be clear: If it had anything to do with the fact that Ruszczyk was a bride-to-be, Sean Bell’s killers would be in jail. If it had anything to do with the fact that she was the one who called 911, then the men who shot Brendan Hester would be locked up. If her immigrant status makes others empathetic toward this tragedy, where were these same outraged advocates for swift justice when the men who shot Amadou Diallo walked away scot-free?
People are digging into Justine's life too, they just haven't found anything of significance. I'm not saying all cases are treated equally, I was just saying if Justine's was a POC and nothing else about the case was different I don't think it would be treated any different. JMO

Exactly. My point is, I'm frustrated with people saying how it's so GLARING, and there's so much more outrage since it's a blonde white woman shot by a black man. I have to call BS on that. There has been plenty of outrage over white cops killing black people. Sheesh. This shouldn't be a pissing match over who gets more coverage or what cases are more glaring. It's all awful.

No you have not and you won't . There have been organized events but extremely peaceful...not like those that broke into the mayor's press conference. I know there is extreme frustration about this ...just as much as other previous officer involved shootings but I don't expect violence.

I feel the difference is the specific people showing outrage over this but condoning the others. There will always be people in general outraged, but the glaring hypocrisy here is which ones are outraged. JMO!

I feel the reason for this (and it goes way deeper than my one post could possibly cover) is that it's not a widespread problem for white people to be shot by police, whereas it's a near-constant threat for black citizens. That's my understanding of it. It's been a pressure cooker for black citizens for decades and it boils over because there is so much anger. White people don't face that daily pressure, so when it happens, it feels more like an outrageous tragedy than a direct assault. JMO, of course.
Agree. Every wrongful death deserves justice and public discussion. I can look around this thread and see the same group of people who are protesting and asking questions about every case like this one. Every time one of the cases is posted, I know who can be counted on to show up and defend the rights of the victims and their families. That's consistency and that's how we should handle it.
Castile is for sure great comparison. But oh! He smoked marijuana! So it's ok!
I find it completely disgusting and gross that LE are investigating Justine and I found it completely disgusting and gross that they investigated not only Castile but his GIRLFRIEND immediately after the shooting. CYA all around.
Ugh
