They were obviously scoping it out in the vehicle first. Then Justine showed up. Were they supposed to park at the end of the alley and walk up and down?

The other poster if you read back posted about getting out of their vehicle to search.
They had only just arrived in the alley and within 1 minute Justine was there and was shot. No time for anything else that LE could have done. It all happened very very quickly.

11:27 p.m. — Justine Damond calls 911 to report hearing sounds of distress from a girl or woman behind her house. She says it may be a rape. A dispatcher says officers should arrive soon.

11:35 p.m. — Damond calls 911 again to ask why police haven’t arrived yet. She gives the dispatcher address again.

11:41 p.m. — Officers Matthew Harrity and Mohamed Noor arrive and drive south down the alley behind Damond’s house. Harrity, who is driving, is startled by a loud noise near his squad car. Damond approaches the driver’s side window immediately afterward, and Noor fires his gun past Harrity, striking Damond through that window of the vehicle, according to Harrity in an interview with state investigators.

So where in this timeline did the officers get the time to get out of their vehicle to go searching for a possible victim?

that time line indicates a quick cruise down the alley till the point of the shooting...no way were they ever out of the car...no way nor is Harrity saying they were...I think that is the ulitmate shock 1141 arrival and 1142 one person down...that makes this case just clear cut murder. thanks for the time line...it is tighter than I even remember.

It was the post where the poster was asking about why Noor & Harrity weren't getting out of their car looking for a potential rape/injured victim.

So Harrity & Noor only just arrived & Justine must of been there pretty quickly by the squad car window to get shot within a minute. The loud noise could possibly have been her approaching & slapping the back of the vehicle to get them to stop the car and get their attention, and then she is suddenly by the driver's side window and is shot by Noor.

Today in St Louis a trial is starting, Jason Stockley a policeman charged with murder for a shooting while on duty in 2011.

There are many more links and videos to be easily found. He is also charged with planting the gun in the victims car among other things. Defense requested and was granted a bench trial.

According to one of the sources 27 cops have been killed in firearms-related incidents this year. So that's 541 citizens who have that been killed by the police, vs 27 cops killed. So citizens are 20 times more likely to be killed by the police, then police are to be killed by citizens. It's citizens who should be fearing for their lives when they encounter police, not the cops. Taxicab drivers have a more dangerous job than cops do.

That is faulty reasoning. The police are given the duty and responsibility to detain and arrest people who are breaking the law. That is done to protect and serve the other citizens.

In trying to detain and arrest people, there are always going to be some who fight and try to injure the officers. There are legal protections allowing officers to respond with a higher level of force in response.

No one is going to take on the job of trying to arrest gang members, if they are not given legal protection to respond with force.

There are an average of 12 million arrests per year. How many of those arrests end up in deaths?

the degree in business put him in the shorted training program. One must consider that they are simply not getting high quality perfect candidates waiting in line for these jobs. They have to train and recruit to get bodies on the street and the result is a less than well trained or motivated force. Many of these guys are doing this for lack of any other job that will train them. Sad but true.

That same problem exists across the nation right now. Huge drain of veteran officers, transferring out of patrol, or switching careers, retiring early.

And fewer quality candidates for the academy because of the anti-police backlash from the public. Nobody wants to become Darryl Wilson---forced into a confrontation to save one's life---then forced to go into hiding with one's family for fear of death threats, etc.

i think many major cities are in the same situation...not just Minneapolis...but that is a guess.

Noor was making $20/hour to put his life on the line and that is after a raise. Sorry but my daughter sells cosmetics for an hourly rate close to that.

the back end of the car to the drivers window is not that far...especially she was moving quickly to get them before they left.

That was Officer Harrity's statement to investigators.
She was on foot, not floating. Anyone can walk or run from the rear of a vehicle to the window of the vehicle if it is cruising along fairly slowly. I doubt they would of been racing through the alley. I guess the car would of been at a stop for Noor to be able to shoot his weapon or not?
