I have found this police shooting of particular interest, because MSM has pretty much put this trial on "Mute". Haven't seen a word about this on CNN, MSNBC, whereas the shooting in Ferguson was nightly news for months on end. And there wasn't even a trial with that shooting.

Yes they sure have and it has so much interest ....also so many legal forums etc. nothing.....I wonder why it is so off the radar. There is a vigil planned for the night of the verdict at the courthouse...no matter what the verdict. This trial has brought to light so many issues with policing and investigations...goal is to bring this to the public.

I would so love to see Noor on the stand...I don't have a clue if he evoked any sympathy? I would love to hear legal experts weigh in on this case...if this was in Florida we would have had wall to wall coverage. Well soon it will be over and I assume if not guilty there will be an appeal by the family. They are from Australia ...not sure how much longer they can be here and stop their lives.

Not sure what you mean by an 'appeal by the family'. If he's found not guilty---that's the end of it.

Sorry I meant if he is found guilty I assume he can appeal...not the family. In the case of a hung jury family ask state to try him again. Lately the trials I have watched seem to always end up with a hung jury...hope that does not happen.

The trial is reported in Australia every day, including MSM tv news bulletins. It certainly has not dropped off the radar here.

To clarify, this case has dropped off the radar in the United States- I was talking to a coworker about this case; she had no idea there was a trial going on. she said she followed the case when it happened and then she heard nothing more for months and now years, since it occurred almost two years ago.

Yesterday morning a local news station did have a well respected attorney discussing this case. Trying to find it but did see this statement that came out of it. "
A key point, he says, is that Minnesota law allows officers to use deadly force if they perceive a threat.

Noor and his partner, Matthew Harrity, say the sound of a slap on the squad car startled them.

The prosecution has argued the slap never happened."

It sure sounds like the slap is critical here and apparently the defense's presentation was good on this slap. Of course just hearsay given I was not there. The reporter stressed that in Minnesota all you need is all they had to perceive was an "apparent" threat...real or not. So his partner Harrity may have saved Noor.

I have to think the rebuttal witness today will speak to this issue.

It seems like to seal the deal they need a very reliable way to confirm no slam...no unusual sounds and not sure how you do that?

Even the Minneapolis newspaper seems to have pushed the story to background. This just doesnt fit the right narrative to be front page news unfortunately. Plus, I think locally, it is a huge embarrassment to the city. I have some relatives up in that area and they have said that most up there are just livid with the whole situation, and the Minneapolis politics.

Mainstream media—it doesn’t fit the narrative. Therefore an uninteresting story—not worth reporting.

I guess we will see what happens. My guess is that the jury will find him guilty on the manslaughter charge. One problem I have seen all along, is that the way the statutes are worded in Minnesota is a little different, and makes it a little awkward in a police type shooting. The Legislature needs to clean that up a bit.

In their closing argument, prosecutors said Damond called 911 twice to report a scream in the alley, and that officers should have expected to encounter a concerned citizen.

But the "slap" on the car was only documented THREE DAYS LATER, after the fact. (Meaning after everything was reviewed by union and attorneys).

Facts not in evidence or on statement signed on date of incident don't carry a lot of credibility to me.
