MN - Justine Damond, 40, fatally shot by Minneapolis LE, 15 July 2017 #3

I suppose its possible, but its really throwing the entire police department under the bus. But that could also be possible. The politics of Minneapolis's Somali population has certainly been an issue in this case. The Mayor might toss the PD under the bus to placate certain other interests.

From what I've seen over the years nothing would surprise me.

Have to wonder what the jury thinks about Noor being fired before the trial? I think often they are on leave until trial is over? Why was he fired if he says he was just following his training?

So many questions on this secret trial...why was no public allowed in the gallery? Not one public observer? Some media after much back and forth. Does not seem right no public allowed. I get they would have to be restrictive and security high...but not one? I was planning on going down even though I knew it could be tough to get in but not even a chance.

Was the jury made aware that he had been fired?
Noor wasn't fired because of the shooting per se. He was fired because he refused to cooperate with the investigation. Contractually he is required to give a statement and cooperate with the internal investigation but he did not.

Thanks ...that begs the question of why not give a statement and cooperate...and regarding jurors most of the probably knew he was fired whether they say so or not. This case was covered extensively until the police union seemed to get it put on the back burner.

I think Noor knew perfectly well he wasn't justified in the shooting and maybe even union reps told him to no cooperate. Though I think that really served the union and police department's purposes more than Noor's. But I think Noor figured, there is no body cam footage, and only him and his partner's word to go on, if they stick together, Noor can get off, since the PD and other local politicians would help him. He didn't anticipate that the prosecutor would come after him this much.

You're probably right about the jury knowing about the firing.

If the jury deliberations go on past today I am going to get really worried.

Yes I agree...I think the defense from the little I have heard raised some doubts especially about training etc. to have at least some serious discussion but past today then I tend to think we have a divided group who may or may not get to the same conclusion...they do have what I consider a "compromise" verdict of the manslaughter which might in fact be the conclusion. I think one or more will not want to go with murder...I have spoken to some people here that would not go with murder. I could based on what I know but was not in courtroom.

I work very close to the court house. Just looked over there and so far it looks pretty quiet, the rain might be keeping everyone inside though.

Keeping my fingers crossed that whatever happens stays peaceful so I can get to my car after work.

I know this much, if I was on that jury Hell would freeze over before I voted to acquit.

Sadly, some may feel the same way about voting guilty.

I agree...that is what makes juries hang.

Justine's group is very peaceful...just looking for justice and I have no doubt even if they don't get it they will be peaceful...that said...I wish they would have chose the location at Lake Harriet where they have gathered before.

Mohamed Noor leaving courthouse complex in downtown #Mpls a short time ago. Both sides met with Judge for an off-the-record bench conference regarding an administrative issue with a juror, unrelated to the case. #NoorTrial #JustineDamond

What is an 'administrative issue with a juror'?

Prairie Wind---where are you?

Rocco...any idea what that means? If it has to do with a juror it is related to the case in some way even if only in terms of scheduling...but they are sequestered. Now I am really wondering!!

I've never really heard that term before. But I am assuming that since they said "unrelated to the case" that it could mean that perhaps a juror has had something come up. Like a death in the family or something, and may need to be released. If so, one of the alternates will be substituted in and deliberations will start over.

No idea. A personal issue I could take a guess at, but I don't know what an administrative issue could be.

So a personal issue would be considered an administrative issue?
