ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Day two of the Trevino murder trial is in the books and prosecutors got through another 11 witnesses as they build their case around a failed marriage.

Jeffery Trevino is charged with killing his wife Kira Steger in February. Her body was later found in the Mississippi River.

Jay Steger, Kira's father who was been in the courthouse for jury selection and the trial all week long, talked to KARE 11 after the court recessed for the weekend.

Interesting stuff, I guess they are referring to her as Kira Steger.

Lindsey Wolf of Wausau, Wis., Steger's hometown, said she and Steger had been best friends since age 11. When she got a call Feb. 24 from another friend, saying Steger was missing, Wolf immediately posted an alert on Facebook with a picture of Steger.

Within 10 minutes, she testified, she received a private Facebook message from Trevino. It read, "call me plz."

She did as he asked. "He told me to take the post down," she testified. "He was very angry. He was agitated."

Mix knew that Trevino was upset about the post, too. Trevino felt it was "blowing things out of proportion," Mix testified.

The Facebook post came up in testimony by Matthew Roff, the roommate of Trevino and Steger. Roff, a close friend of Trevino, lived in the basement of the Iowa Avenue home.

"Jeff started getting slammed with calls (after the post), to where he couldn't call people he needed to," Roff said.

Interesting how the roommate frames it almost as an annoyance that people wanted to get the word out about Kira's disappearance.

very interesting case. JT arrested after le finds "copious amounts of her blood" at their home. Defense attorney claims less than thimbleful found. Who is right? Still no cause of death given or injuries that would cause massive blood loss.

Interesting stuff, I guess they are referring to her as Kira Steger.

It has been mentioned that she did not legally change her name when she got married, which is why she is being called Kira Steger - that is her legal name.

I will see if I can find the link.

Thanks FBEye for linking that article. It not only explains about her name it tells many other things about Kira and Jeffrey's relationship. It seems it was a very rocky one and he was the type that if he couldn't have her no one could. jmo of course

Yes my 2 guys don't tweet too much. I don't know if they don't allow electronic devices in the courtroom or not. It sure is slow coming out of there.

Oh well I am working on my ancestry program while waiting for information.

Yeah, it's hard to find m(any) more tweeters in the courtroom, guess MN is pretty strict with that stuff since the trial itself seems to have plenty of interest. Maybe once the defense begins its case it may pick up, for some reason they seem to get more folks talking once the prosecution is finished and defense gets going. I'll keep my eye out if I see any others.
