Post-Bulletin press conference summary:

I'll bet her cell phone records are key here, if they've been able to obtain any data from it yet. If she supposedly returned home at 8:15am, and her cell phone was discovered in the house along with her wallet, etc., then I wonder at what time did she stop interacting on her phone. That is, did coworkers start texting or calling when she didn't show up for work? Did any friends or family text or call her prior to 10am when the father of her children left with the van? If they did, and those early attempts at contact went unanswered, it seems that something could have happened to her prior to 10am. Were any message threads mysteriously deleted from her phone?

That was a sad press conference. Not much hope in finding Maddi alive, imo. Family clearly devastated. What was not said is more important than what was said, to me.

I guess I am especially dense this morning (and not privy to SM posts) but if she never left her house, is she somewhere on the property? Or is the mystery in how she was transported away in her van? I assume that's it but we have to tread carefully here. Be kind, I've not read everything.

Police searched her home and vehicle. I believe their theory is that she was transported via her van, did not return home, and they are exploring the “where” and “who”.

Did they say when she was reported missing?
I could’ve sworn that was somewhere back in the first few pages but now can’t find it- I did find a quote from an article (posted upthread by @Knox) that makes it sound like she must’ve been reported missing on 3/31 (Friday), but doesn’t say who reported her missing or what time of day.
Since March 31, investigators have interviewed numerous people, including family and friends.

It's obvious LE knows the van they have seen on video was Maddi's van. By asking for any video along the given route, even if the video does not show her van during that time frame, is an attempt to pinpoint where the van would have stopped to have possibly disposed of her body.

For instance if the van is seen at point A along the route at a certain time, the van should arrive at point B in a certain amount of time given the distance between those two point. If the van is not seen at point B within that amount of time, the van must have stopped somewhere in between point A and point B.

Who leaves a house volunteer without their coat or cell phone? I would think there would be some indication of a struggle inside of the house. If true, I'm sure LE is keeping that close to the vest.

this is a good point- it seems obvious that most wouldn’t leave home without their phone nowadays but especially in Maddi’s specific circumstances. With young kids in daycare, it seems like we had calls at least 2x/week whether it was just FYIs (“kid fell on the playground, they’re fine!”) or “someone is sick, need to come pick up”. I never wanted to be away from my phone for long at that life stage, even more so than other times.

Just catching up.

So LE knows when the van left the home and the routes it drove to and from, whever it went. How do they know this? What about Route 12, is that meaningful? Money Creek Township to Amherst Township

I don't think LE will call anyone a POI at this point, but in my opinion they didn't have too. It's pretty clear what's up.
They say who left the house driving Maddi's van, who returned and at what time. Where that van went, but oddly enough - not why? It would be perfectly acceptable, expected really - to offer that information up. So leaving it out points a certain direction - MOO.

Then he picks up the kids, because I assume daycare is calling him to say Maddi didn't pick them up. Was he living in the home still?

I am curious to know what time she was supposed to be at work. How was she supposed to get there if her husband had the van? :( MOO

APR 5, 2023
  • 8:00 a.m. - Madeline and her partner drop their 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son at daycare.
  • 8:15 a.m. - The dark blue 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan Madeline drives returns to her residence. Madeline doesn't show up for work at Mayo Clinic, something Chief Williams says "is very unlike her."
  • 10:00 a.m. Madeline's partner tells police he left the residence in her van, returned later in the day and she was gone. Police say there is nothing to suggest she left on foot or in another vehicle.
  • 10:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. - Investigators believe a van "similar" to Madeline's was seen driving on County Road 12 and Highway 43 in Winona County, and then on Highway 43 in eastern Fillmore County. The van was later found in the driveway of her residence.

No mention of his vehicle, but I assume he has one?

I went back to previous posts from MSM which have been updated/changed but I was thinking the same thing, and how he was supposed to get to wherever and she was supposed to get to where she needed to be. With her personal belongings in the van is upsetting to me as a woman. We don't leave that behind EVER. IMO

Her personal items were either found in the van or her residence.

Chief Williams says investigators searched both the vehicle and the residence, locating Madeline's phone, jacket, wallet and ID.

This poor girl. I’m praying she just needed a break but it’s not looking that way.

  • #219
Sadly it’s waiting for Madeline’s body to be found and an arrest made JMO ….so sad for her children and family.
I wonder what the point was of both parents dropping the children at day care.

In the pressor, the Chief says her wallet, phone and jacket she was wearing earlier were found " inside the residence". Not in the van.
