MN - One dead after Minneapolis shooting involving immigration agents, US media report, January 24, 2026

These apprehensions and killings that somehow happen to be recorded are the TIP OF THE ICEBERG in my opinion. IMO they are kidnapping people in the dead of night. Some torturing. Some killing. My opinion is that this is obvious based on mere logic.
If they are brazen enough to pepper spray someone and then beat him to the ground to be summarily executed once disarmed while in front of potentially dozens of cameras in broad daylight, I shudder to think what they would be capable of in the dead of night in a back alley. How many others would have been killed?

i think it’s also the cruelty of it all that’s so disheartening. the overkill, saying “boo hoo”, going through his pockets instead of performing cpr, not letting a doctor perform cpr. and then the lies, the victim blaming and the deflecting after. i hope people will still be brave enough to document what is happening in the future, and to help up a fellow human who was pushed down.

i wonder if any drug tests were done on the ice agents? because this behavior is so unhinged, it makes me wonder if they were sober? and i hope they look into how they have handled previous cases, because does a person really go from doing his job well to this? it’s a big escalation. jmo.

<modsnip: Information stated as fact with no approved source to support>

It's my opinion that had he not been carrying that day, and had he not inserted himself when the woman was pushed down, he'd likely be alive today.

It's my opinion that an unfortunate chain of events transpired. I do not adhere to the notion that a Federal agent in this case committed 1st degree murder.

It's my opinion that no charges will be brought against the Federal agents in this case, however, if so, they will be lesser in nature, considering a litany of factors that came in to play that day.
I predict two shooters will be charged.

Furthermore, I predict based on opinion and based on what's missing in the details, that conspiracy-related crimes will be charged. After the shooting, DHS Bovino stated a name. My opinion is they scrambled to completely fabricate the notion that there was a target -- Jose Huerta-Chuma. I predict there will be no DHS document nor communication that can be produced from before Saturday to support ANY planning/targeting him. Bovino likely in my opinion told somebody quick pull some name off a list somewhere. All solely my opinion.

I reject the idea that enforcing border laws is comparable to the systematic genocide of over 6,000,000 Jews.
The Minnesota border of what? Canada, Wisconsin or Iowa
History informs us all it begins with fellow humans the regime deems who is undesirable

And now Bovino is whisked out of town, soon to retire.

Job? No one mentioned a “job”

Humans care and attempt to protect their fellow citizen’s, neighbors and employees throughout history, this is what we are witnessing, not a job a humanitarian duty

Our collective taxes are being spent outrageously on this assault on communities who don’t need or welcome these untrained hopped up aggressors
There is no "humanitarian duty" to interfere with federal immigration officers who are following the law and arresting illegal immigrants. The humanitarian duty would have been to never encourage millions of people to enter our country illegally.

I reject the idea that enforcing border laws is comparable to the systematic genocide of over 6,000,000 Jews.
And I reject the idea that surging troops into a state that is already handling criminals without 3000 additional agents working without warrants is comparable to law and order.

“Despite our best efforts to correct the record and engage directly with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, they continue to publicly repeat information that is inaccurate and misleading. This is no longer a simple misunderstanding,” Schnell said. “At best, DHS fundamentally misunderstands Minnesota’s correctional system. At a minimum, this reflects systemic data management inadequacies or incompetence as it relates to DHS tracking detainers and custody. At worst, it is pure propaganda. Numbers released without evidence to stoke fear rather than inform the public.”

Keep in mind that Minnesota law states that the permit to carry must be on the person when they carry along with ID. He did not have those. So, he may not have been lawfully carrying.
I don't believe a word out of their mouths. They've given no indication to me, that they followed a disciplined approach to their jobs. If we are relying on this band of misfits to provide accurate information I think we already how this will turn out. BBC is reporting what they've been told.

Just like the Trump administration is telling the general public how this event transpired even though all videos provided show a dramatically different sequence of events. When those jackals were rifling through his pockets I don't discount the fact that they purposefully did not disclose his permit because to do so means more oversight and that's the last thing they need.

Which of the women they pushed down was an "illegal immigrant"? Why did they push her and how does that come under the job description of arresting illegal immigrants?

Just like AP, she was doing nothing illegal.

Why didn't the agents just walk away and get a warrant since they couldn't get into the doughnut shop? What legal procedure were they following by engaging with the protesters, instead of ignoring them?

The article linked is three days old. Smearing the victim is not even being done by the authorities any longer.

I’m scared for my community. Trump is here today in what I think is his first public remarks since this past weekend and I know a protest is planned. I’m sure Alex Pretti didn’t wake up that morning expecting to lose his life. Thankfully, the suburb where it is happening is so graciously giving protestors a “free-speech zone”, which I’m pretty sure is against the constitution but who knows anymore.

“We understand that people want to come and exercise their First Amendment rights, and we fully support that here in Clive,” said police Chief Mark Rehberg. “That’s why we’re giving them an area that’s safe, away from traffic, so they can do that.”

MSNow reporting no civil rights probe into the shooting of Alex Pretti

After no civil rights probe into the shooting of Renee Good

It's getting hard to keep up.

but @Sundog do you really see good officers, just following the law here? :( do you think people are protesting and documenting violence, just to “interfere” for fun? do you know that not everyone who ICE has targeted is an illegal immigrant or a criminal? do you not see anything worrying about their methods? do you not see the cruelty? i find it hard to understand your point of view, and why you are finding ways to shift the blame to the innocent victim and others like him

Encouraged? Please
In Minnesota?
Why not Texas? Arizona, California who share a border with those you’re deeming illegal ?
I don’t consider humans wanting and working for a better life as illegal

SBM - I think you are correct.

“Bovino claimed Jose Huerta-Chuma, who Border Patrol agents were targeting Saturday morning, had a criminal history that included domestic assault to intentionally inflict bodily harm, disorderly conduct, and driving without a valid license.

The state’s DOC says Huerta-Chuma had never been in custody, based on the department’s data records and court data. The records also showed Huerta-Chuma had committed no felonies in the state, nor was he currently under supervision from the state.

“DOC records further indicate that an individual by this name was previously held in federal immigration custody in a local Minnesota jail in 2018, during President Trump’s first administration,” the department said in a statement. “Any decisions regarding release from federal custody at that time would have been made by federal authorities. DOC has no information explaining why this individual was released.””

The president has made new remarks today about the shooting and he is apparently now against the 2nd amendment to the Constitution. That’s a very interesting stance given his base.

Edit: not sure why that YouTube video isn’t pulling, but here’s an article about what he said today.

Americans are no longer allowed to walk around with a gun, according to Trump.

Fair enough. I also linked to MBFC. If anyone can link a source proving different - I’d like to see it. moo

Here’s another fact check source -

5. Assessment and what remains unproven
Based on the supplied reporting, the claim that the phrase functions as a shorthand for Nazi-style collective reprisal is widely circulated and used rhetorically, and commentators tie it to Lidice and other Nazi reprisals—yet the sources provided do not include archival proof that the exact English wording “One of ours, all of yours” was an official Nazi slogan in 1942; the evidence in these excerpts is inferential and rhetorical rather than documentary. To move from plausible association to verified etymology would require primary-source confirmation—wartime orders, propaganda texts, or credible historian citations—not present in the materials supplied here, and that absence should temper absolutist claims even as the phrase’s invocation remains politically and morally potent.
I do wonder if the fact checkers are looking in the right place. They aren't likely to find it in Nazi Germany as the allegation is that it's a slogan from Francoist Spain. Not being a Spanish speaker myself it's not really something I'm able to look into. I do notice, though, that the first part of the phrase "Uno de los nuestros, todos de los vuestros" is actually the Spanish language title of the film GoodFellers! So perhaps 'one of ours....' is a concept that does have some meaning in Spanish.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is a phrase dating back to the Spanish Civil War, as that war was fought with incredible levels of brutality on both sides, and the concept of wiping out whole villages in revenge for the death of one soldier is something that happened across Nazi occupied Europe.

It does make me wonder what the DHS thought 'One of ours, all of yours' meant if they were using it at an official briefing. May it, perhaps, give some insight into the mindset of the department and those working for it on the ground in Minnesota?

Exactly. Strange, eh? Their opinion changes depending on how it suits them.
Humans are strange.

I have a funny feeling that changing "anti ICE protester" to "Pro Life protester" and..... a certain number of people would be dialing the prudence component of legal weapons carrying waaaay up.

Some of those same humans who now cry "murder" could well be crying "FAFO" regarding a pro lifer's decision to carry a weapon to a protest. Others would be "shocked and appalled" at the lack of personal responsibility.

Of course, others would strongly deny any personal bias and claim that human behavior is restricted solely to the humans on the other side.....

Trump says Noem will not step down

Asked whether Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem would step down, Trump replied that she would not.

“I think she’s done a very good job",” he said of Noem, as calls mount for her resignation. “I think she’s doing a very good job. The border is totally secure.”
He continued: “You know, you forget we had a border that I inherited where millions of people were coming through. Now we have a border where no one is coming through. They come into our country only legally. So you have to remember those things. You know people forget. As soon as you accomplish something, it goes into history, and nobody ever wants to talk about it.”
