I do not deny this fact, never did. In my opinion the man made a poor choice to do so that day, and under the totality of circumstances. It is also my opinion that had he not had that firearm on his person, and inserted himself in to the incident, he would likely be alive today.

In my opinion, his firearm in this case played a critical role in how the event unfolded, and will likely be a point of consideration in the investigation.

I’m not convinced at all that it wouldn’t have ended the same way had he not had a firearm on him. Nevermind the fact that he didn’t take it out, so how would they have known that before shooting him, 10 times, in the back while he was on his knees and blinded by pepper spray, 5 or 6 of the shots being as he lay lifeless on the ground, and then all the agents standing back dumbfounded for 30 seconds before rifling through his dead body, while simultaneously preventing a doctor from giving lifesaving CPR for at least two minutes.

Actually this would have never happened if ICE wasn’t eagerly incompetent attacking citizen taxpayers just because they’re perpetually pissed off bullies mentally capable of shoving a women to the ground.

Guess the ICE mental fitness screening proudly matches the Department of War Monger ideals of comportment.

ICE is over their head, there’s been rapid hiring, apparent inadequate training on protester rights and safety, maintaining mental health fitness in high tension situations among other modules.

LE is trained when dealing with civil protest that their job is that of ensuring safety, protecting First Amendment Rights, ensuring operational continuity, and de-escalating potential conflicts with the public they serve.

Engaging in conversation with protesters to understand concerns and clarify expectations on both sides; learning to interact with counter protesters to prevent violence.

“Observe, Breathe, Connect” method is taught.

Thin skinned cold as ice ICE should have left when their prey alluded them and let local sworn officers provide community safety and care for their protesting citizenry.

ICE are emboldened by belligerent leadership, anonymity, celebrated dehumanization of “enemies” leading to them thinking themselves above the people they serve ex.“boo hoo” comment.

US taxpayers dollars are allocated by the Senate for ICE officers salary.

ICE officers take an oath to protect US citizens.

Nomenclature alert: protesting is now referred to in some circles as “interfering”.

There is no change in meaning beyond being a preferred word with a hoped but failed negative connotation by individuals that don’t understand the Constitution.

Or the role of federal employees on home ground or states rights or civil rights history but I digress, the President doesn’t either.

Used in a sentence: On Jan 6 there were waves of armed persons entering the Capital interfering with the peaceful transfer of power.

All Capital interference persons loved, forgiven, completely absolved and exalted!

So let’s us embrace any reference to interfering its a good thing only mean unfair people who don’t love pardons for criminals would think it’s not.

Keep in mind that Minnesota law states that the permit to carry must be on the person when they carry along with ID. He did not have those. So, he may not have been lawfully carrying.

quite frankly, I don't know that the victim in this case DIDN'T have ID on him.

I only know that the same agency that lied to us about him assaulting agents and having plans to unleash maximum damage upon agents CLAIMS that is the case. I don't find that agency credible. JMO MOO IMO

That comment was in regards to discussion about documenting
to which clearly that book was a very important historical document. I am not exploiting the holocaust. I myself have been keeping documentation of current events to be able to share with family later on. We are in historical times right now.

I believe that some exploitation of the Holocaust theme is inappropriate.

For example, the side-to-side photo of Pretti being shot (pistol to his head)

And a man, sitting on the border of a trench, with a Nazi German putting a pistol to his head -

IMHO, should not be used for two reasons:

- considering the feelings of Pretti’s family

- and considering that the other (Holocaust-time) picture represents the last of the Jews executed in Vinnitsa, a Ukrainian city, during Nazi occupation.

I have seen it in many SMs and while I can understand the wish to deliver a powerful message, it is not that message.

Anne Frank’s diary is, and can be mentioned, IMHO. It is a very powerful document that transcends even the Holocaust and raises a lot of issues related to life, death, morality, the decision that people “not involved” might take.

Of non-Holocaust themes, the Stanford Prison Experiment by Phil Zimbardo (the book has a different name, “the Lucifer effect”) can be used.

Remember, as part of the experiment, Zimbardo deprived both “the prisoners” and the “guards” of names and (!) - the guards were allowed to wear masks.

The question of the legality of masked law enforcement can, and should, be raised when contacting our state representatives, IMHO.

Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey said he told Trump’s border czar, that the city “does not and will not” enforce federal immigration law and urged an end to Operation Metro Surge “as quickly as possible”.

In a statement, Frey said he was joined by police chief Brian O’Hara for a “productive” meeting with Homan.

“I reiterated that my main ask is for Operation Metro Surge to come to an end as quickly as possible,” Frey said.

Trump administration officials have repeatedly blamed so-called “sanctuary” laws for exacerbating tensions on the ground. Minneapolis, along with Hennepin County, restricts coordination between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Monday, the state’s governor, Tim Walz forcefully rebutted the administration’s claim that state prisons simply release the “worst of the worst” onto the streets.

“In reality, the Minnesota Department of Corrections honors all federal and local detainers by notifying Immigration and Customs Enforcement when a person committed to its custody isn’t a US citizen,” Walz wrote. “There is not a single documented case of the department’s releasing someone from state prison without offering to ensure a smooth transfer of custody.”

Another woman is facing charges after allegedly biting the finger of a federal immigration enforcement agent on Saturday in Minneapolis...

When the Border Patrol agent attempted to remove the mask Baierl was wearing, Baierl allegedly forcibly bit the middle finger on the agent’s right hand, the affidavit states.

The Border Patrol agent was wearing gloves at the time of the incident, but Baierl’s bite was still allegedly able to cause physical injury, the affidavit states.

Baierl was released from custody by a judge on her own recognizance. A preliminary hearing in the matter has yet to be set.

Since this article quotes unnamed sources I am not sure of its veracity, but IF Pretti had a prior contact with ICE in the weeks before his fatal encounter with federal LE, I am making a note that shouting and blowing a whistle would seem to constitute interference in the POV of some.

That is legitimately the only source (Noem/DHS) I can find of these claims. The police chief in Minneapolis said he was carrying legally - also in the linked article.

I will point out two lies from Noem she said in the same interview as claiming he had no id:

• Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Pretti “attacked” officers, an assertion echoed by FBI Director Kash Patel, but no footage available as of Sunday afternoon shows Pretti committing any attack.
• Noem claimed Pretti was “brandishing” a gun, but no available footage shows Pretti even holding a weapon in his hand at the scene; a concealed gun appeared to be taken from his waistband area by a federal agent moments before he was shot.

One of the things that unsettles me the most is how often people fall back on legality as if it settles the question. “Agents are just enforcing the law,” and “They shouldn’t have intervened.” Those phrases scare me.

Slavery was legal. Jim Crow was legal. Japanese internment was legal. The Nuremberg Laws were legal. Law does not protect morality. It reflects power.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has issued a statement, based on facts, that Minnesota turns over convicted criminals to Homeland Security/ICE...and Homeland Security claims those people as their own "arrests" while lying that MN is not cooperating.

I get what you are saying, but I just can't see anything in the videos available that shows Alex getting in the way of ICE. Does anyone have footage that shows this? He was present when they went to the donut shop, but at what point did he step between them and their job? And when he went to help the woman pushed down, he still wasn't getting in the way of their operation. ICE pushed her to the ground, unless I'm mistaken there wouldn't have been any further need for ICE to interact with her therefore how was Alex interfering?

What I do see is ICE overreaching time and time again to interact with protesters and citizens that they have no business doing. IMO these interactions are because the ICE agents want to push their weight around, try to command authority and create fear. Their frustrations IMO clearly stem more from just their job title.

I see federal agents so determined to harass citizens that they did so while letting the person of interest to their so-called targeted enforcement get away.

Incompetence. Lethal incompetence.
