No federal agency has “absolute immunity” and I’m pretty sure the Supreme Court has ruled on this before. Again, this administration just continues to incite and blame and lie. All MOO.

Live on CNN there is a bad clash between ICE agents and protesters. They're firing tear gas pellets or something and their weapons are drawn.
This isn't good.
IMO.
I'm watching this right now. The reporter Laura Coates has been coughing and choking on the tear gas for several minutes.

To obstruct LE in this case. imo

"The officer who later fired his weapon can be seen using his phone to film a person who appears to also be filming him. Meanwhile, another car can be seen speeding around the front of Good’s Honda and continuing down the street.

The ICE officer then walks to the front of the car."

you could make a similar argument that a gun isn't a weapon when it's not loaded and drawn. as soon as a car is in gear and moving, it's quite easy to kill someone with. i don't think it's controversial to say that cars can be used as weapons, and IANAL but IIUC they can be considered weapons for legal purposes.

To obstruct LE in this case. imo
How exactly was she obstructing law enforcement? The video shows cars driving past, so she wasn't blocking the road.

Or let's go with that .. she was actively obstructing LE. Does that give LE the right to execute her on the street?

He says the agent had ‘absolute immunity’ which is false. He had qualified immunity.

You’re right that SCOTUS has ruled on this before.

-Butz v. Economou, 438, U.S. 478 - federal officials exercising executive functions are not immune from damages liability for unconstitutional

-Malley v. Briggs, 475 U.S. 335 - police officers (including federal officers) are not entitled to absolute immunity for actions like seeking warrants or using force

If little old me can find this out in 10 minutes, you’d think VPOTUS’ PR team could as well. Almost like he’s lying, intentionally.

Why make that leap? I have yet to see anyone say that.
I think it’s a pretty clear implicit statement when someone is shot and the instinct is to jump to ‘well she was doing x, y, x’ that this is an attempt to rationalize or justify the officers actions…

What happened to critical thinking? Assuming A is true doesn’t justify leaping straight to Z.

People are attempting to justify the shooting by pointing to her (innocuous) actions. When their statement is generalized and made explicit they then say "that's not what I said."

Yes, it is indeed what was said.

ETA
"It's her fault, she shouldn't have been blocking traffic"
"So it's ok for LE to shoot someone for blocking traffic?"
"That's not what I said!"

People are IMO repeating justifications without thinking about what they are saying.

These two's phones...

I think the other SUV there with it's door open was driven by the shooter. When he walks back from the victim he kinda acts like he's gonna stop at the SUV before changing his mind. He's also on his phone during that walk which woulda been his first opportunity to look (or etc) at what HE HAD FILMED.
zleuther wins again! Shooter indeed does drive a biege Chevy SUV, so 99% the one in all the media.

I think he parked that way cuz everybody knows that's how LE always parks, and he was likely senior rank in charge of getting another car way further north on Portland Ave unstuck.

ETA: one of the truly crazy things is how he holds onto his phone all the while geting his gun, simultaneously shooting and getting outta the way, then shooting twice more.

That’s your opinion. People are making a statement about a single fact. And others are making a giant leap— that you must thing they deserved to be killed. imo

My goodness.

The conversation ender for me is the fact that in the time it took to draw his gun, he could have stepped away from the vehicle. He chose not to.

Some people are defending ICE for murdering an innocent young woman.
