Accused serial rapist facing more charges after grand jury indictment
A grand jury indicted accused serial rapist Yahya Maly on Wednesday with six additional charges.
Prosecutors charged 28-year-old Maly on Feb. 12 with 13 felony counts, accusing him of sexually assaulting five women. The initial charges included seven counts of second-degree rape, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree attempted rape and two counts of first-degree attempted sodomy.
The grand jury indictment on Wednesday added six additional charges, including second-degree rape, first-degree attempted rape, two counts of first-degree attempted sodomy and two counts of third-degree assault. A sixth victim was listed in Wednesday’s indictment.
Maly faces a total of 19 felony charges following his indictment. An arraignment hearing for the case will be held on March 19.

According to the department, Maly lived in Henrico County, Virginia, from at least 2013 to 2021.From Jan. 12, 2022, to February 12, 2022, Maly was in Chicago, Illinois.
Police said Maly was in Tucson, Arizona, from Dec. 3, 2022, to Jan. 17, 2023.
Maly then visited Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, from Jan. 27, 2023, to Feb. 25, 2023.
