PLATTE COUNTY, MO (KCTV) – The authorities are conducting an investigation into the suspicious deaths of a man and a toddler who were found dead inside a burning vehicle.

The bodies were found in the 20000 block of B Highway, north of Ridgley, Missouri.

The caller reported seeing human remains in the car, said Sheriff Mark Owen. The bodies appear to be the remains of an adult male and toddler, the sheriff’s office said.

Yellow crime scene tape surrounded the house as investigators collected evidence. The Platte County Sheriff secured a search warrant to investigate the scene. The house is about one mile north of the Ridgley Christian Church.

The deaths are being investigated as being suspicious, Owen said. He declined to say why they are suspicious, or if the people who lived at the house had been accounted for.

“The vehicle is extremely charred, so it’s not easily identifiable just by looking at it,” Platte County Sheriff’s Maj. Erik Holland said. “We’re going to be trying to locate VIN numbers and things like that to confirm the actual vehicle.”

The investigation remains ongoing, but authorities are calling the vehicle fire suspicious.

“We’re still working it as a suspicious death,” Holland said. “We work all deaths fully until we exactly know what the cause of the death is.”

No. I suspect that the victims might be connected to the home where the car was parked. They are not revealing who called 911 but this is a rural area. Comments by LE in one of the videos made it sound like they have an idea of who the victims may be. They might be keeping the names quiet until they figure out if someone who is still alive is responsible for the fire or if the deceased man started it (double murder vs murder-suicide). I doubt this is an freak accident. JMO.

Loved ones tell FOX4 that Nate Duncan and his daughter Natalie were the two killed, and now they're desperate for answers as this how this happened and why.

Friends described Duncan as a doting father to his 2-year-old daughter, who they called "Nat Nat."

"He was just a laid back, mellow dude. He didn’t want problems with people. He just wanted the best for everybody," friend Kyle Pressley said.

From Jewel’s link above, the video states that Nate and his girlfriend had recently kicked out troublesome roommates and then their house was shot with paintballs. Nate just recently learned he had a 6 year old son who he was fighting to gain custody of.

They were burning in the parked car in front of their house?!?! Was something tampered with overnight inside the car?

Whatever happened, this is so incredibly tragic..

5 years later, and so far no justice for a wonderful father and his beautiful daughter, killed and burned in a car in the woods near their home. Unimaginable pain their family must feel to this day, especially without justice or any answers.
