Why would the dad say they failed and LE say they are cleared? :banghead:

I think it was just like the dad said, they were trying to get more info out of them...

Ex. You failed your poly and so did your wife... Tell us what you are hiding so we can find your daughter...

Here are a few highlights from the dddnews article, snipped for space:

Karnes said he does not feel that the training wheels are from the child's bicycle, however, her father, Edgar Rodriguez, believe they are.

...

"The dad said that," Karnes said. " There is no proof on that. No law enforcement has said that." Karnes said the wheels are new, showing no signs of rust or age"

...
"We haven't found anything or have any real clues," Karnes said.
...

Karnes said he still cannot elaborate on the third piece of evidence that was found on Wednesday.
...
I've heard from different people what it was," Rodriguez said, adding that he would rather not say what he has heard. "The FBI hasn't told me what it was. I think I may know the reason why. Maybe they are scared I would retaliate against a certain person or something like that."

So the new article basically says LE says that the training wheels are new and unused, no proof that they are from Breeann's bike, and the father is saying that the training wheels that were found and were on Breeann's bike are worn and manipulated (bent for her bike), so they are definitely hers.

Well, that makes a lot of sense. He tells a reporter that they are "cleared" but the dad says they failed the lie detector tests. Can both be true? Perhaps so. They could be "cleared" yet also answer deceptively, I suppose. As if that is not confusing enough, we have Karnes saying he doesn't think the training wheels came from Breeann's bike. We have two different stories on two different parts of the case. Let me pound my head on the table for awhile.

Maybe they are cleared of Harming Breeann but not clear on other things like possible knowing where she is...

AKA balloon boy..? Or have an Idea who took her...

I gotta get to work but was just wondering if it is true that the parents failed the polygraphs?

From what I understand, the father stated that the parents were told by LE that they failed. There have been no announcements from LE regarding this.

There was discussion upthread on various reasons people fail polygraphs and are innocent, as well as this being an LE tactic, who have lied and told people they have failed before when in actuality they have not.

ETA: As I was posting, the article came up that LE state they are cleared. Add me to the head-pounding group.

Whoa. Rodriguez thinks LE is scared that he will retaliate against a certain person based on a single item found in the field? Whoa. If the item would lead him to suspect someone specific, then shouldn't LE also be suspecting that person? Someone must be under surveillance right now. If Rodriguez already has an idea of who it is, why hasn't anyone heard that? And why wasn't that person under surveillance before the wheels were dumped?

:ohoh: No, you didn't just say that out loud....

 :ziplip: :winko:

There are some very strange statements in that article.

Ya think? Based on what I know, I think the dad already has a suspect in mind, but I think it was a POI who has already been questioned by LE.

The father never said this. What he said was that the FBI told him they failed. As far as local LE is concerned the parents are cleared by the polygraph. Most likely FBI stated they had failed as an attempt to see if they'd come clean about anything.

:ohoh: No, you didn't just say that out loud....

Stranger things have happened....

But, the father would be the best actor I have seen in a while, If it was balloon boy scenario

I think HE knows, or has a pretty good Idea of who might have taken her...

I am feeling the same things you are. I sure hope and pray for Breeann's sake that LE is on it.

FWIW, I believe they are.

I was using LE as a general term for all investigators on the case. The point is, he was told he failed, but we've received contradictory information.

They way I read it, Karnes, (the cop), says they have not found any "real" evidence or clues. He then goes on to say that he can't comment about the third item that was recovered.

Does this mean that he does not consider the training wheels and the other item to be "real" clues?

The father's comment that police may fear he would retaliate against someone if they confirmed what the third item was makes me think that it could be some form of ID or something unique, like a gang sign or a personalized item. The article mentions unconfirmed rumors of a drug connection. Could the item be some kind of packaging like a baggie or something with a dealer's insignia on it?

Maybe Mom was deceptive about the timing? Maybe it was much more than a few minutes since she had seen Breeann last?

If LE found something that might lead to a particular person, wouldn't they have to show it to the family to find out? And to determine if there was a relationship and/or reason as to why that person might take their child?

Right now, it sounds as if LE doesn't really feel sure that anything they found has to do with Breeann. But the father sounds as though he has someone in mind.
