If he confessed (confession a rumor) to strangling her and that was what brought about the murder charge then where does a weapon come into this? He certainly wouldn't need a weapon to abduct a 3 yr old.
I don't know why I'm so boggled by this, sorry you all.
What if it has to do with the third item of interest found that was "negative"? Suffocation isn't necessarily strangling (plastic bag?). I'm not sure what the dangerous item or weapon would be to have brought about the charge of armed criminal action though.
