Yeah that is what I mean by flood control
the whole place was like a lake when I was there, and the bushes are thick and so is the debris in the river

We don't know the type of vehicle SM owns. I was trying to find out if he actually owns a white van and the purpose of the search early on regarding the white van.
As I read some of the posts, it appears perhaps a white van was spotted in the area.
I am trying to figure out how they got to SM in the first place and was it via a vehicle etc.
Holy cow. That looks more like a small river than a floodway ditch, IMO...

While the brush where the training wheels were found was thick, it would be much easier to find a child in the brush than in a moving body of water - the water is also going to destroy evidence faster.
Anyone know the average water temps in the area? It takes awhile for a body to rise in cold water, but if she is there and not weighed down, her body should come to the surface.
I cannot wrap my head around this SOB who killed this baby, removed the training wheels from her bike, du
mped the bike and little body in the water and later planted the training wheels (and something else?). LE said the evidence went in a circle (ie; nowhere) when the training wheels were found. How do these cretins come up with the things they do? Not in my wildest imagination could I try to "fake a crime scene" or plant evidence or whatever the hades he was trying to do!!

Don't property fanatics usually have something worth protecting? If the Google map photos are an indication of his property - his yard is undeveloped (no grass, plants etc) we had a set of "yard nazi's" three doors down when I was growing up, the yard was always perfect and they would threaten to call the cops when we roller skated past on the street! But they never killed any kids to the best of my knowledge.
He maybe a bit of a racist but I still think he lured that baby into his house for evil purposes before he murdered her.
I am fairly confident that the "seemed like an hour" comment was greatly exaggerated. I recall when BTK gave his confessions, he also remarked how it took a great deal more time and effort than he had anticipated before hand. So, my assumption is that these sickos get a preconceived notion of what this experience will be like, then it is much uglier than their fantasy was... therefore, it seems like it takes a long time to them. I'm only bringing this up as it applies to the timeline of how long he had her in his house.
Well, not in my experience. I've seen people with the crappiest little hovels posting "KEEP OUT" "NO TRESPASSING" "PROTECTED BY SMITH AND WESSON" where people with lovely homes and well cared for lawns are normal about people in their yard.
Most definitely agree, but when you live in the middle of nowhere and live on a street with only 26 houses on it and, from what I gather, a very family friendly neighborhood with lots of kids and older people, families probably felt real safe...safe enough to allow their kids to ride their bikes up and down the street without having an eye on them at all times.
I am not saying that this is something I would do in this day and age, but is something I did as a kid, and something I am sure happened with frequency in this small little town, until Aug 6, 2011.
Have any of the families from any side spoken about anything yet?
For the mere fact, that it was very specifically stated in the affidavit, that he stated that there was a Mexican on his pool ladder, I think this was racially motivated.
Because of the time frame, brother going in the house, her peddling down the street, 3 year old's can move fast, riding her bike in his back yard, climbing up the pool ladder, he probably saw her out his window. This could have been a matter of 5 minutes.
I'll bet he thought and I'm only speculating and being graphic, "I'm tired of all these Mexicans taking over, I am going to get rid of this one, before she can make more of them."
The suffocation would have only taken about 3 minutes, even though he stated it seemed like an hour. Put her body in the bag, put her in his vehicle, drove to the disposal location. This could have all occurred in under an hour. Dismantled the bike, put it in his vehicle and drove off to get rid of it, this could have been the time he was not at home, when LE were making their door to door searches.
IMO this was not sexually motivated.
When your long-time neighbor, who has lived in the community most of his life. as have most of his family members, and has not exhibited violent tendencies grabs and murders your daughter at high noon, you were never going to be able to protect her from him no matter what. You'd be more likely to ask him to watch her.
You can see on my map the area called 5 Rivers and the area called Elk Chute Levee. These are both areas that 164 crosses. It is believed that he used one of these bridges to throw this sweet girl and her bike off into the waters.
I don't understand if he told them exactly where he put her in the water, why they haven't been able to find her yet?

Are we sure those were HIS words? I thought the 'mexican female' was 'cop-speak.' It sounds more like the way LE writes up their reports, imo.

I think this was sexually motivated. He found a vulnerable little girl in his yard and acted upon the opportunity, imo.
