Has anyone mapped out the people connected to the 2013 case with Phelps and Norton? Any common addresses? Social media friends in common?

The cases do sound similar. It could be more than just a coincidence that both are in the same area.

Not that I'm aware of, but its a good idea. It seems very likely the perps involved in both of these cases know each other. JMO

Just to clarify, it would be good for an investigator to do this. On Websleuths, though, it's against the rules to sleuth anyone who hasn't been named a suspect by LE.

"Foul play not suspected." Why not? Do humans usually go down to the creek to die, in Camden County?

May be a person with known medical issues family asked for privacy. JMHO

At this time-that means it could change if the autopsy shows signs of violence. Could be a suicide or death by misadventure, maybe natural causes like a heart attack etc.

I understand they should not CONCLUDE that there is foul play involved, but sounds to me like they are dismissing it. I've heard "suspect everybody and everything" as being the starting point - and eliminate things as you go along.
Also seems to me that 'no danger to public' resembles "Nothing to see here, just move along..." before they know what they're dealing with.

Which suspects are you referring to? Phelps and Norton allegedly lived in Windyville, west of Lebanon, and about an hour drive from Linn Creek.

JP also lived in Camdenton for an extended peariod of time in 2009 and 2010. Camdenton is about. 5-10 min drive to Linn Creek.

They should be a little familiar with stories in this area. IIRC, they did a couple of good podcasts on the Springfield (MO) 3 Missing Women.

(Just a tip to the great True Crime Garage - Laclede County is pronounced Luh-CLEED. It's French, likely named for early French fur trader, Pierre Laclede.)

Hopefully, this podcast will help get the word out about Cassidy and the other missing women from this area.

The guys on TCG are asking how the FBI was able to identify the caged woman in the photo online as Cassidy and notified local LE quickly. I was wondering if, due to the previous conviction of Lebanon locals for kidnapping and sex trafficking, resulted in the Kansas City FBI office paying close attention to any hinky online behavior in this area? JMO and just a thought.

This is an important point. Lebanon is a small town with a large number of manufacturing facilities (mostly boats, trailers, air conditioning compressors and wine barrels). It's a bit of a "hub" in a largely rural area, and it draws people from miles around for work. Also, it's located on I-44, a major trucking route located less than an hour from one of the largest trucking hubs in the midwest, Springfield, MO. So, I think using the population as a ruler to base demand is a little misleading. For what it's worth, I live 50 miles down the road at another "hub" and we've got 2 "adult stores". I often wonder why they exist, as I rarely see cars in the parking lots. Perhaps I don't keep the same hours as their clients..

They could be a cover for trafficking (jmo) all kinds.

Moon Valley Road is in a perfect location between 2 interstates 70 and 44.

I would guess it was the anonymous person -that passed the photo to the FBI- knew Cassidy...

""According to court documents, on September 16, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by an FBI agent in Kansas City about an anonymous tip. The tipster advised there was a photo showing a missing person, Cassidy Rainwater, being held in a cage in a partially nude state.""

New judge assigned to case of James Phelps, accused of kidnapping Cassidy Rainwater (ky3.com)

Anyone have an explanation/justification for the change (other than just delay)?

humm I googled and this came up for your question:

""Though specific state laws will differ, typically your attorney must file a motion requesting a new judge. ... When presenting a challenge for cause the party making the request must provide specific evidence showing that the judge should be disqualified because they have: A conflict of interest, bias.""

Thanks. JMO, it seems unusual that someone who was given access to this photo chose to go to the FBI with the information. Maybe the local police, or more likely they wouldn't report it to anyone.

It seems more likely it would have been given to the FBI by someone who trolls the internet or dark web or whatever. JMO, that sounds like someone who does that for a living, IOW an FBI or similar federal agent. Those agents identities aren't revealed, nor are details of the program they work for, hence attributing it to an anonymous person who came across the photo somehow.

But, as you say, it could also be a good citizen who found it and decided to share it with the Kansas City FBI.
