I'm thinking Dallas Co screwed up this investigation and knows it.


Hearings Set For February In Cassidy Rainwater Murder Case

JMO, its possible there's a lot of evidence still being tested. They were searching the property for quite a while. It's also likely the investigation includes searches of electronic devices, computers, etc. for use in crimes online.

Dallas County, like a lot of smaller counties, doesn't have the resources for that, so they're probably relying on the state and federal government to do the work. Sometimes, they even use outside contractors for special analysis of evidence.

Overall, it probably means the prosecution is making sure they have an airtight case against these two. Has anyone heard or read of the state attorney general helping out? Usually they do provide extra help in these kinds of cases.

ETA: I wonder if there will be federal charges brought as happened in 2013 with the previous sex trafficking case in Lebanon?

It's also possible that Phelps and Norton are cooperating with authorities, naming names, etc. It may be taking a while for LE to investigate and verify that information.

IANAL, but is it common to negotiate a plea agreement this early in the process?

Norton’s lawyer has withdrawn from the case.

A new defense attorney has been appointed to represent him.

IIRC, Norton had acquired his own attorney the first time. That's the attorney who withdrew from the case. The news article mentions the new attorney was appointed, so I assume that means the state is now providing his legal representation, as they are with Phelps. Seems likely its a death penalty case.

Did anyone watch this drone footage? I finally did. You can enlarge on your screen its very clear and goes over the entire property - How isolated it really was.

I found it odd the firewood (beside the torched cabin) did not burn? Makes me think someone was standing there or it was very controlled burn... (imo) so weird?

No indication of what this means as to delay of trial.

School of Metaphysics owns over 700 acres in Windyville. Cassidy had 320 Moon Valley listed in court records. That property is currently in a trust. The warrant had the wrong owner listed on it. The property tax was in John Warrens name. As far as I’m concerned the actual owner of the property is still in dispute.

School of Metaphysics owns over 700 acres in Windyville. Cassidy had 320 Moon Valley listed in court records. That property is currently in a trust. The warrant had the wrong owner listed on it. FWIW, w the old listing pix, #7 shows three Dallas Co. tax receipts for 2018 for three different properties (201+ acres, 3+ acres, and 40 acres) all showing three bills were sent to __ Rainwater & someone w different surname.
Listing: 240 acres, has drinking water well, & electric, but no ref. to house or structure. Did Cassidy give this as her residence address? When?

Not sure if this old info is relevant. Just FYI as this address has been mentioned.

I've run into this on other cases ( I think). Casenet won't return a result for a day or two and then it'll pop back on the list. I doubt it's been deleted, even empty records stay on Casenet.

I've run into this on other cases ( I think). Casenet won't return a result for a day or two and then it'll pop back on the list. I doubt it's been deleted, even empty records stay on Casenet.

I just checked again and still nothing. We'll just have to be patient.

IIRC, the Rainwater property was owned by her grandfather and is where part of her remains were dumped.

shows a property w a different Rainwater name, followed by "REV T" indicating prop is held in name of a revocable trust. The prop is "15-5.0-16-000-000-007.010" but is not on Moon Valley; it's Red Top Road in Buffalo. Is Cassidy's grandfather either Gary or Bill?

The case you mentioned was filed April 10, 2014, and the Parties & Attorneys tab/header shows her name as Cassidy Rae Paul, w her address as 320 Moon Valley and her year of birth as 1988.
The Docket Entries tab/header refer to her, as early as April 16, 2014, as Cassidy Rae Rainwater. Case was closed/disposed Feb 5, 2015.

Iirc, someone said multiple reg'd. sex off'rs previously lived in the cabin or on the prop --- the same cabin as one or both these two defendants lived in --- caught my attn. Makes no sense. There was at least one RSO who lived at the same address as Phelps, at a different time.
