Dee Dee Blancharde told everyone she and her daughter were forced to relocate from their former home in Louisiana by Hurricane Katrina. All of her daughter’s medical records, she said, were lost.

They chose to settle in Missouri. At Children’s Mercy Hospital, they found a friendly face in Beckerman, who had known Gypsy in Louisiana before moving to Kansas City in 2007.

Wondering if they chose MO because Beckerman was there.

I think the fact they were online lovers for two years, and from what a friend said in an interview that she told NG that she was handicapped and he still loved her no matter what, why would she have played the "charade" with him for two years, have him come kill her mother, and then act as seemingly normal as she could? By walking, no feeding tubes, etc ... JMO

I would love to know how things really were behind those walls when it was just the two of them there (DD and GB) ...

Did she tell him that at the beginning, but then come clean later in the relationship? Do we know the answer to that?

No, for all we know she did come clean with him ... There is ALOT we still don't know about this bizarre case ... I can't wait for the trial !!!

Morning all. Just caught up with everyone's posts from the past 10 hours or so. I got the opinion from reading various things that Gypsy didn't pretend to be wheelchair bound with Nick, its what she SAID in a post when speaking with a FB friend ABOUT her relationship. That's just my take on that.
I also agree that you really can't equate Gypsy with an abused spouse because abused spouses have a BEFORE time, before they met their abuser. A childhood free of their abuser (even if some follow a repeat scenario). Gypsy was born being shaped by her abuser. I also agree with the posters that feel she is mentally disturbed. I feel she is and will always be a danger to society through no fault of her own. I would hate to have to represent her in court. She is like the boy who cried wolf, so that even a genuine condition will be called into question. This case reminds me of those Russian nesting dolls, except once we finally uncover all of the deceit there may be no one left underneath. I feel disgust towards DeeDee (sorry about her being the victim), I feel pity towards Gypsy, but I also don't trust her, she may be a pure sociopath (for whatever reason).

Didn't I read that she had lost her teeth because of unnecessary meds? Do you think Gypsy could have pulled off faking illness as a young child (ages 5-8), or would her mother have to had compromised her? The early wheelchair example described her as walking then suddenly appearing paralyzed when she saw her mother. What sort of fear did that poor girl have, to be so drastic in her behavior? That hurts my heart to imagine, and I'm disgusted at family members for not intervening from that moment forward. Perhaps Gypsy was better able to fake it as she got older, and I can picture a scenario where she promised her mother to perfectly act the part as a plea to not be made to really feel sick.

Yes I recall reading that as well. I just don't recall where the story originated. We have family speaking out via fb and to some media that claim they haven't seen Gypsy or Dee Dee for years. If it's true that would be huge in terms of abuse.IMO
All we have from LE is that there was fraud and that Gypsy can walk. I think we are supposed to take away from the' Gypsy can walk' and 'fraud' is that all is well with Gypsy.
I don't buy that she is well just because she walks. She could have other medical and mental health issues. I'm thinking she must have other things going on or how in the world did they get by all these yrs with the medical folks.
For sure mom started the shaved head but did she continue on into adulthood,or did Gypsy? I'm sure mom was behind the wheelchair in public.
I guess I'm just waiting it out to hear what went on behind the closed doors of the home. No doubt there was abuse of Gypsy as a child and probably it continued on into adulthood. I just want it confirmed. IMO

You did a great job explaining why Gypsy is a threat to society. It may not be her fault, but she is who she is because it seems that her mother raised her to be a sociopath. How tragic!

That was indeed an excellent post from Ontario Mom. I think she hit the nail on the head regarding Gypsy. How she was raised and the end result. IMO

Hard to believe that not so much as a blood test was done by new doctors or any testing for that matter. I know Dee Dee was said to have charm but that is unreal.IMO

For a moment, let's assume DeeDee did her homework and determined what she could give Gypsy to make her blood-work temporarily appear to coincide with any particular disease, even on minute levels enough to support her claims from lost medical records. We all know you can buy practically any drug online from international mail order pharma companies. Is that a possibility?

The conversation about telling NG she was handicapped took place via FB with a "friend" in Missouri. She had to keep up the handicap charade with that friend. For all we know, maybe NG only knew of Gypsy through one of her secret profiles. I think maybe he had no idea of what Gypsy's real life was like until later on in the relationship.

Can you imagine the amount of work that would have gone into that? She would have had to thoroughly research the biological symptoms of whatever disease, find medications or herbs (or something) to induce those symptoms/affect bloodwork, get her hands on those drugs, dose her daughter without actually sickening or killing her, keep all this information straight in her mind ...

And now imagine she took that cleverness and ingenuity and put it to work in a more productive, positive way?

I'm not so sure about your first statement, because she probably blames other people too, like, doctors,and maybe family that never tried to intervene,so she's most likely filled with some unpredictable rage in there somewhere.
But I definitely agree that she's probably enjoying jail, it's all new to her. MO

Personally, I don't think she is a threat to society because she would kill again. As you say, Dee is gone. But I do feel she is a threat in the sense that she has been raised to lie and manipulate without caring about those she used. Those traits are a threat to anyone who comes in contact with her. I agree that she would probably rather be in prison than with her mother. I hope she can be rehabilitated. It will be interesting to find out what psychiatric testing shows.

I do not think any Dr diagnosed her at all.
I think all her Dr's visits were normal visits and Dee Dee
Only told the ppl she was scamming her daughter was ill.
I'll bet all records are for checkups. If there are any Dr's visits at all.
