It did cross my mind that maybe Gypsy herself made the anonymous call to the police. Perhaps that was one of her attempts to escape, hoping an investigation would free her. Regardless of who made the call, it did not help Gypsy at all. It probably reinforced that she was never going to get away. I do wish she had chosen another way.

What if the only other way was for her to kill herself?

Just a question!

Thank you. While everything about this case is unbelievable, I find it mostly pathetic and sad. A baby was born so perfect and innocent, and a monster raised her and created a little monster. Heartwrenching at minimum.

Its wrong!
There is no way this should have gone on for so long!
Mommie dearest was very good at what she did.

IMHO I don't think Gypsy COULD get away from her.

Well, that's pizza, fer Gawd's sake. Pizza! Perspective, people.....*sarcasm font*

I suppose she was really craving pizza.

I'm just trying to figure out WHO physically attacks a pizza guy?! I could see getting irritable or cranky because you can't pay for your pizza, but actually taking it so far as attacking him? That speaks volumes, imo.

The more I read, the more I think that whole house was a ticking time bomb.

I don't even know what to make of this.
I make of it that she had no problem physically assaulting someone when they didn't submit to her demands.

That's a stranger. What was she like with a little girl she had 100% control over when that child stepped out of her set boundaries?

Remember the time Gypsy fell to the floor helpless when she saw her mother, because she didn't want to get caught walking? That was a reaction based on fear. She knew the consequence and didn't want that to occur.

I think DeeDee was very physical with Gypsy. I think we will learn of a lot of "Sybil type" mind control games she played with that little girl in the early days.

I think you might be right about that.

I also think that since Gypsy has spent a lifetime playacting at being sick, mentally disabled, needy, etc., it probably feels normal for her to pretend. I can't believe anything she will say about the situation because it's ingrained in her to manipulate. I think "honesty" is a foreign concept to her, thanks to her upbringing.

What a horrible way to see the world - as always having to cover your real self and to be constantly manipulating situations. I can understand how a split personality would happen in a world like that.

If Gypsy had made that call, then why not reveal the truth once they came to check it out? This doesn't pass the whiff test for me.

MOO

First of all, I expected to hear that someone, at some point, had reported Dee Dee to Social Services or LE b/c of fraud or abuse. So this latest news doesn't surprise me at all. I have a feeling a medical professional might've been the caller. After all, they are mandated reporters for abuse. Maybe she encountered a dr. or nurse she couldn't con and this person tried to help Gypsy. And since when is a sheriff's deputy the one to mentally evaluate or diagnose someone? He should've referred this case to DSS (DHS...whatever they call it in MO) or a medical/mental health professional. I think the deputy dropped the ball, but as I said earlier -- who's gonna call out a sick girl and her selfless mom?

Who says Gypsy made the call? It sounds like the call was made by a medical professional. Caller checked on Gypsy and found none of the diseases that her mother alleged she had.
Which brings me to my question. How many doctors have seen Gypsy and how did they not figure this out?
Even the reasons for Gypsy not walking were first given as spina bifida and later on as muscular dystrophy.
Seems like it should have been clear to any doctor Gypsy didn't have either one.

Sounds like she confessed right away to murder conspiracy. And so far, she hasn't said anything else about the situation and she isn't the one who is alleging the abuse. Abuse is just obvious from the way she was raised. She is also not claiming she has split personality, it's the boyfriend she thinks has split personality.

Agreed!
I think DeeDee was violent!

The person who called authorities in 2009 is not named in the report, but that person told deputies he or she had checked on Gypsy and could not find "any symptoms that would support what (Dee Dee) alleges to be wrong with her daughter."

I don't think it was a medical professional.
I don't think they went to any!

If Gypsy didn't have symptoms of any of the diseases, then it's pretty obvious Gypsy didn't have these diseases.
As for doctors, I am positive Gypsy has been to doctors. She and her mother even went on numerous medical flights. They had proper paperwork and forms signed by a doctor.

At least one doctor who treated Gypsy is named by name.

"The story highlights a reunion with Dr. Robert Beckerman. He treated Gypsy in New Orleans and moved to Kansas City. Dr. Beckerman is still an employee with Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City."

That picture is of Gypsy? ^^^^ I thought it was a little boy!
ETA: Never mind, I clicked the video & saw it was a little boy. But how sad that I couldn't tell the difference!
I'm so torn one minute I'm thinking "Bless her heart" & the next I'm thinking "She has to be a part of this scam DD started, she had to have been!"

He is still a doctor/pediatric specialist. Presumably they would at least take her blood pressure, etc. If she shows up in wheelchair, and mother claims she has muscular dystrophy, yet she had normal muscle tone, shouldn't that have been obvious?

No lol I didn't think the pic would come up its a video.

But we see pics of her sleeping in a bed with a pink hat in the news.

I don't think DR B had anything at all or any knowledge of what DeeDee was doing

He would treat her for sleep disorder!
Not MD or cancer.

if u have cancer u can still go to another dr and that other dr can still treat u he wont check to see if u really have cancer.

Know what im saying?

she pulled the wool over many eyes!
DD was very very good at this game.

  • #339
Her medical flights were presumably to take her to various doctors for testing and procedures.
Who were these doctors and why they didn't notice anything?

  • #340
I would think with all the types of doctors she may have visited, they usually ask for medical history, family medical history, medicines you are currently taking ... wouldn't anything they have said triggered a doctor to think something was up?? ... I mean to get a doctor to sign off on a medical flight, there would have had to been some knowledge of a disease for them to approve that? I don't see how they got away with it for so long and with so many people ...
