I'm specifically asking about the bolded sentence. How do you know this? Maybe she was only ever allowed to watch Disney movies, her entire life. Maybe too, she started sneaking on the internet and was attracted to items that represented the exact opposite of Disney. Maybe she stumbled upon things that stimulated her mind and arroused her loins, and those are the only directions she pursued. You, me, none of us has ANY idea what went on behind those closed doors and dark windows.

If we are going to speculate in such a way to only damm her, then those speculations carry no credibility. One must be open minded, versatile, and in this case 'creative' when pursuing what we fantasize to be the truth.

It appears that the Snowgypsy Blanchard Facebook account has either been deleted or set to unsearchable, but I specifically recall that she had liked fan pages for Once Upon a Time and I believe Vampire Diaries. She obviously had fairly unfettered access to the internet (probably while Dee Dee was sleeping) if she was looking up BDSM things and making multiple Facebook accounts and signing up for the dating site where she met Nicholas, so it's reasonable to assume that she saw more on the internet than just BDSM and Facebook. We also know that she was a big Star Wars fan, so it's guaranteed that she had exposure to that, as well.

Pitre — who lives in Larose, Louisiana — said when family members started confronting Dee Dee about her treatment of Gypsy, the mother stopped communicating with the family. Pitre said he has not talked with Dee Dee or Gypsy for the past 15 years. "It was basically all a fraud," Pitre said. "I was so disgusted with the woman. I could not believe what she was doing."

As far as I know, there is no medication for Asperger's syndrome.

Gypsy was born in 1991. So when she run away in 2011, she was already an adult.

"On June 17, 2015, information was received from the State of Louisiana that Gypsy was born on July 27, 1991, with the spelling of her last name being Blanchard. Previous reports indicated Clauddinnea and Gypsy's last name was spelled Blancharde; however, this is not correct according to Gypsy' s birth certificate."

Somebody called police in 2009. Caller told them he checked on Gypsy and Gypsy didn't have symptoms for the diseases her mother claimed she had. Caller was concerned that Gypsy was a missing child or a runway, because Dee Dee provided multiple birthdays for Gypsy.
Police showed up, Dee Dee convinced them everything was fine, and police left, after deciding Gypsy was retarded.

The cousin of Gypsy also said that he was young and did not know who to call or how to get help for her; though he said he had wanted to. We can't say for sure that the adult family members didn't call. We only know that the ruse continued (seemingly unchecked).

She knew she didn't need a wheelchair but she was told she had to stay in it. If she, from a very early age, was made to behave a certain way, why do we except that she magically will figure out it's wrong once she turns an adult.
As far as my opinion goes, authorities failed her. Where were they when Gypsy was a child? They had an opportunity to investigate medical fraud back in 2009, when it was reported to them, but obviously did nothing. And now they want to blame Gypsy for it?

I finally got up to page 60 something and someone mentioned Gypsy Lee Rose! I'd been waiting for that form the first time I heard about this case! Such a not so strange coincidence!!!

Anyhow, I see absolutely no reason why there can't be an overlap between malingering and Munchausen's. Why can't a person have a pathological need for attention along with a desire for the perks being a victim can bring, at the same time? I think Rachel Dolezal is an example of that as well as Kate Parker (did ya'll know she used to be a websleuther here and bashed Kyron Horman's mom all the time??).

His account fits with the timeline. Gypsy would've been 8 years old 15 years ago. Old enough to jump on a trampoline and be scared into faking it when mother walked up. I'm not quite sure what you mean. It appears that Gypsy was made to either be sick or act sick or both, since she was quite tiny. This didn't happen 1 or 5 or 10 years ago. It was likely lifelong for Gypsy.

I think that Gypsy's fascination with BSDM and whatever else sexual fetishes she may have become enamored with makes perfect sense. She equated pain with love, submission with praise, dominance with the only relationship she was allowed to have.

This is one sick and horrible case.

I also think that emotional abuse is probably the worst. I don't know that she can be healed or rehabilitated. I think it's too late, at 23. At 8? 9? 10? When her extended family confronted the woman? She had a chance then. Now I think she has been irrevocably twisted.

I hope I'm wrong.

You're right. The two disorders can exist together. I think there was an article posted here or elsewhere about that possibility. I'll try to find the link if I can. But she is definitely not just Munchausen's since they do it only for attention, according to my reading.

I read somewhere (so consider it rumor) that her Dad and stepmom will be coming to Springfield to see her as soon as she is brought back. I believe she has family support.

I disagree that they neglected to pay attention earlier. When they confronted DeeDee, she stopped contact, we've been told. That is a pattern with medically abusive mothers, so I believe it. Also, DeeDee was able to fool a LOT of doctors, charities and Habitat for Humanity. Who would believe her family if they had tried to out her earlier? JMO

I remember that article. I think she did it for both attention and money. She was considered a devoted mother to a disabled child. Also, some of the money they collected for things Gypsy presumably didn't actually need, such as feeding pumps and medical trips. I think Dee Dee was very much enjoying the attention, as well as money. She sure seemed to like getting things for free (whether they actually needed them or not).

The story I read came from the cousin of Gypsy and it was an insinuation that DB was doing something to make her stepmother sick. He said she prepared the meals and her stepmother was sick up until the time Dee Dee left and then she regained her health.
There was mention of DB only allowing Gypsy to eat certain foods because some foods made her sick.
This information did come from a blog posting and it was reported to be info from the cousin.
Maybe he added more regarding poisoning on another site. IMO
