<modsnip - quoted post has been removed, as well as reference to it>.

One thing that’s still unclear to me is who called 911 to report Darnell missing.

This article reports:

“Police Capt. Deric Heislen says Darnell Gray was last seen Wednesday night at the apartment where he lives. The boy’s father was at work when an acquaintance reported the boy missing just before 7 a.m. Thursday.”
Authorities search for missing 3-year-old in Missouri

I suppose maybe it was one of the women who were later seen being led out of the house in handcuffs, but that’s just a guess.

I just thought of one more thing: Do we know what time the dad left for work or when he last saw Darnell otherwise?
Yes, when was the last time Dad saw his son? Was Dad out of town, at work, or in custody when DG went missing?

I really wish that the MEDIA would tell these freaking parents to NOT BRING THEIR KIDS ON SEARCHES.

Barry Mangold on Twitter

Seriously. One of these kids is going to find a body one day.

I’m still catching up... But, REALLY PEOPLE?!?!?!
This kid (how old is he?!? Maybe 7-8?) is a “volunteer searcher” and says about how he feels...
I feel sad good...” like I have this feeling of good to look for him... but I feel sad that he’s a little bit lost “
A LITTLE BIT LOST??? A little bit?????
WHOA! Am I seriously missing something here?
The Sheriff/Police/FBI are ALLOWING CHILDREN to go on serches for Darnell?

Please give this a like if you feel it is WRONG to let children go on searches.
Please if you think it is okay for children to go on searches I would really like to hear your reasoning behind it.

I definitely do not think LE or the FBI would ever allow children to join a search. In almost all organized searches you have to be 18 and show an ID which is tracked for liability purposes.

I don't have the statement handy but I believe LE said they do not have the ability to coordinate volunteer searches right now for organizational and liability reasons. When LE directs the search, they take on the insurance liability if a searcher gets hurt. I believe this is 100% volunteer with the community just "getting together" and going out to search.

Yeah. A lot of the search activity seems to be rather informal. There’s really no way to stop kids from joining in on community organized searches.

Yes there is! Leave them home with a responsible adult! Obviously the ones taking them with them on these searches aren’t responsible. They are not looking for a puppy!

FALSE REPORT:

Quatavia Laqwoun, and family friend Amanda Ramirez both said Darnell was found walking along Highway 63 in Columbia and was in the hands of the Columbia Police Department. The CPD said that was not the case.
UPDATE: Police deny missing boy found, despite reports from stepmother
It appears that Dad was the initial source of false information that DG was in Columbia. (i.e., Dad told QL and AR who incorrectly reported this to media). MOO

If the woman being described as the step-mom was in the home or is usually in the home, then I would love to hear from her too. She's been photographed looking for Darnell, so I would love if she'd agree to speak to one of the reporters out there.

It really feels like it would be nice if someone close to Darnell would speak on camera and raise up some more public interest.

I absolutely agree that these kids should’t be involved, but if a group of people get together and go out on their own, the police may not have the manpower to prevent them.

Some parents aren’t involved in their kids lives, and these kids aren’t all supervised.

I believe it is OK for you to do it in a different venue. In asking your questions...you know the answers as well.

Let's be honest. This 3-4 year old little boy did not on his own grab some juices and snacks, along with his gloves and coat leave in the middle of the night. Something else happened. Anyone who tries to pass any of that off as possibilities should be questioned until he is found.
Absolutely!!! When I first read that at the beginning of the thread I said there is no way he did this and someone is making it look like he went off on his own. Going out on the limb and saying this absolutely did not happen. Someone wants to make it look like such. Hopefully the little feller is someplace and will be found soon.

I came over from Jayme’s thread too... I however have been around awhile. But, since losing our son I do have to take breaks every now and then for my own personal mind, body and soul. I do this because I was a volunteer researcher for Oregon’s missing and lost children for about 5 yrs. Now, I do it to keep my mind busy, even though it breaks my heart. For every Mollie that doesn’t come home there WILL be one that does! We just have to hold out that HOPE! I usually read a lot now. I will put my opinion in every so often. I love this place! They may not know it but so many of these long timers have helped me through many days.... I go back and read on Ethan’s thread all the time... it’s very healing and that helps my heart!
Hugs! Thank you for helping others.

I wonder what the ages of the children removed from the home are. They might have some valuable information.

It doesn't wash. Literally.

call me crazy but for him to pack all that stuff, hat, gloves, shoes, juice and cookies....sounds like he was being sent on a trip. Of course I don't buy any of it and I am willing to be the farm she knows every detail.

I agree with this. I have an almost 4 year old son and he will only put a hat and gloves on if I tell him to, and then he has a hard time putting them on by himself. I don't buy that a 4 year old would think to put those things on and pack a snack to go. There's a lot more to this story that isn't being told.

While I don’t believe this boy packed and just left..... I do have a 4 year old who could do this. She’s super smart and mischievous. I am always on high alert with her. she can put on her gloves, hat, jacket zip it up shoes she can put the dog on his leash. I have 3 people I trust to watch her because most people don’t understand. We have safety measures in place we never had to have with my other two. Now while she has tried to leave the house on her own or with the dog there’s no way she would in the dark. And she most likely wouldn’t close the door after herself - have they said if the door was found open or closed?
So do I think a child COULD do these things yes but I believe it to be highly unlikely.

Is the residence an apartment? Duplex?
Doesn’t look big enough for four adults and a child.
