Hmm "this morning". Wonder if that means they'll still do the evening PC that was mentioned during yesterday evening's PC? Probably not, unless they get new info I guess??

It’s possible several people were living there - seems to be an apartment or duplex?

In a news release, JCPD said there would be no news conference this morning because “there is no new information” in the Darnell Gray search. @KOMUnews

Did they finish draining the pond they were searching yesterday?

They are done searching the pond. It was searched 3 times.

They just announced that there WILL be a news conference this afternoon. No particular time given.

Respectfully, I find the alerts coming from the police department confusing. I've been attempting to follow along since I noticed this case, but find a lot of their alerts to be partial and baffling (e.g., alerts to report the location of someone, yet providing no descriptive information, announcements of updates with no media attached, etc).

I am just horrified that Darnell has not been found. On the one hand I certainly fear the worst. One reason I took retirement from teaching as soon as I could was being worn out emotionally by what some of the students had been through, the misery of their home lives, their poor little crushed hearts, other bad things I will not put in your mind. My antenna are up because I've seen so many terrible cases IRL. And in the news.

On the other hand, I still have hope that maybe someone took him thinking they were rescuing him. That's my best scenario. But IMO, MOO, JMO, he did NOT leave that apartment himself in the middle of the night.

Day six of search efforts continue for missing 4-year-old Darnell Gray. Missouri Missing is setting up a command post here at Washington Park. @KRCG13

I thought the same. IMO, seems some of the tweets from the dept's Twitter account that you linked to are missing the respective Facebook link.

I suggest following Jefferson City Police Department on Facebook. Jmo

I believe part of what we are witnessing here is the magnification of a "broken" home in this day and age. Many times due to past domestic violence the bio mom moves and hides her location etc. for her own safety. Just August 2 or 3, 2018 what started out as a domestic violence call here in Columbia ended with a Mother driving her two children into a river in Lawrence, KS. It is so difficult for LE to come up to speed on a family's dynamics in very short time for situations that have been years in the making. One 5 year old child drowned and the other infant will never grow up to be normal. Both with different bio dads.

KS - 5 yr old murdered, 1 yr old injured, Lawrence, 3 Aug 2018

Look how many days it has taken the FBI to be involved. It has had to be PROVEN that that this is NOT a simple DV case and that the boy IS IN TROUBLE. Four whole days. And even a Hollywood TV show knows that's two days too many. Parents have to PROVE their innocence to get any real help. The local community has been out every day, but TOTAL LE just now is involved. One thing an LE Officer said to a reporter in private I cannot post and he could not put to print.

I understand your point and agree that DV makes it tricky, but the FBI has independent jurisdiction to investigate any kidnapping. The FBI isn't some group of bumpkins who can't tell the difference between a familial dispute and an abduction and they get involved when it is appropriate.

In Jordan Bellvieu's case LE, the Florida CARD team, and the FBI all joined the case immediately and searched high and low to find out the mother killed the baby in the house and staged an abduction. More often than not these types of cases are family violence. Stranger abduction is one of the more rare crimes.

Alethea is agree with you all the way. One of the several exceptions in this case is that LE could not convince anyone down to including that an abduction has even taken place, much less a kidnapping. So the FBI as far as I know has just in the last day or so become involved. When that happens ALL the agencies (in my opinion) want to join the contest to see who can pee the farthest. May sound harsh but I can't tell you how many LE have attested to it in private.

Buena vista

Thanks. I see a lot of housing and roads. It seems like the sort of area where a 4-yr old should be sighted if he's wandering around on his own.

I can’t get the live that was posted to link but KRCG13 just posted that there is heavy police presence and two roads are blocked off and they aren’t giving any I formation out but it looks like they’re investigating something.
