Ugh. She is a disgusting heifer and I hate her. He was such a beautiful little boy. Just looking at her in this pic makes my blood pressure rise. I hope prison is cruel to her. How can people hurt children??
Agree. She looks like a high school bully that I use to play football with. That guy would tackle anything moving.

Williams says Quatavia Givens did NOT turn herself in and was arrested late last night. She is being held at the Cole County Jail for first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of Darnell Gray, but Williams says it’s up to the prosecutor to change the charge.

Williams says Givens is currently the only person in custody for the death of Darnell Gray. However, he says they’re not canceling anyone out at this point.

..........and so it goes on day after day. The world has become a very depressing place.
R.I.P. Darnell xx

Is there an overall increase in these types of incidents or has it always been this bad and we just didn't know about it? I wonder what recent stats tell us.

Apologies for quoting my own post but I wish that the above message would be in public discourse every day.

Messages directed to the public did work, to a great extent, about drunk driving. It changed how society views drunk driving.

Could this work to encourage the public to make one phone call? Even if the person wasn't sure but noticed something that makes them feel the child is unsafe?

I like this train of thought, some Public Service Announcements—- we are seeing this with bullying, tolerance, diversity (“the more you know” tv campaigns).

How to suggest this? I think NBC does “the more you know”.

So if you heard Rumors , do you think Dad knew , I know we are VF but I don't know how else to put it

The rumors I've read, I think it's quite possible Dad didn't know.

I don't think anyone here is surprised. Givens' arrest won't bring Darnell back but at least his death won't go unpunished.

It's interesting that no local msm reporter tweeted anything about the arrest until today. Our WS member TCIntriguedIN30 broke the news hours earlier!

Reports say Givens didn't turn herself in so how did LE find Darnell? His poor body was located miles away in an area not previously searched so I'm thinking LE had her in their radar from the get go since she was the last person to see Darnell. They probably delved deep into her background and also people she associated with IMO.

Once again luck was on the side of the law - criminals are rarely rocket scientists. That story Givens sent out about him being found had to have been a big, scarlet red flag to LE! I don't buy the official story that they didn't suspect foul play until Darnell was found. In every missing child case I've followed LE conducted a dual investigation, meaning they went on the assumption that the child wandered off and at the same time they scrutinized the child's family and friends.

I hope the charges will be upped to murder once the ME finishes Darnell's autopsy. I want to know about those missing teeth!

Someone commented here...or in Hazana's thread....or in Madddox's thread...(I think you get the picture) a similar comment. I really do wonder, is it just that with SM and the 24/7 365 news cycle that we're hearing about these cases more or is it truly happening more than say 30 years ago?? These poor children day after day. I tend to think it's because of today's ease of access to information that we're hearing about these cases more. I think the same thing was going on 30 years ago, we just didn't hear about it unless it was happening in our "backyards" so to speak.

Logically I knew where this case was heading, but man after that false he's found and well bit, I had some false hope.

Fly high little angel. I'm so very sorry you were failed in this world. May justice be swift and just.

Q’s fb may go poof soon in case anyone wants to back up for your own records.

It is a big red flag all on its own, isn't it? I hope the prosecutor is saving it all, too. What's the death penalty situation in Missouri? I hope she rides the lightning. I volunteer to pay the power bill.

Ughhhhh.
I hate this website. I swear. All the little loves that wouldn't break my heart if I never heard of this place.

Jordan
Isabel
Lisa
Tyr
Joe

And now sweet, bright eyed little Darnell. Likely soon to be followed by Hazana.

I shouldn't be able to name this many babies killed by those who should have been nurturing and hugging them, off the top of my head. Devastated. :(

Margarita, IMO child abuse and murder was just as prevalent in the past as it is today. The difference is that we used to only hear about the really horrific cases or cases close to our community. The Internet changed that and so now we can read about crimes that happen all over the world.

I can't provide meaningful statistics because the other thing that has changed over time is the way LE handles child cases - IMO the days of considering children to be chattel and not butting into what happens between parent and child have given way to advocating for their rights and taking abuse more seriously. IOW, we see less hesitation to bring charges.

The system ain't perfect but it's come a long way since the first child abuse prosecution. In 1874 New York the adoptive mother of Mary Ellen McCormack was charged through the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! There were no laws protecting children.

Darnell's murderer will face charges under laws made for children, not animals so while abusers will continue to abuse, laws thankfully continue to evolve to make sure they will pay for their crimes! MOO.

“Through a press release, Lieutenant David Williams with the Jefferson City Police Department said they made the arrest as a result of interviews and interrogations. The 26-year-old female caregiver is being held in the Cole County Jail with a pending 1st degree child abuse charge.”

THIS JUST IN: Arrest Made in Death of 4-Year-Old

Sounds like she maybe led them to Darnell’s body?? Or not? Thoughts?

Interesting to see this not long after reading her FB page. Yelling at everyone for being on FB and not out looking for her baby, yelling at them for questioning her.
She's not looking so brash and full of herself now, is she.

4-year-old Darnell Gray found dead in Jefferson City

Williams said he notified Darnell’s mother himself, and that other family members of Darnell’s were upset by the boy's death.

“If they were not upset,” Williams said, “then they need to look at themselves in the mirror.”

They know exactly who did this. Someone isn’t upset or surprised at this outcome

Wow:

““If they were not upset,” Williams said, “then they need to look at themselves in the mirror.””

Right? Appalling doesn't even touch it. I thought that whole thread was hinky when I first saw it, like, who is concerned with fighting with randos on FB when your stepkid is missing?? Also the defensiveness when she was called out for using past tense language and ALL the family suspicion.

Admittedly I am not a parent, and thus I don’t understand the challenges parents face. But I get *so* angry that people leave their precious children in the care of just anyone. This seems to happen over and over. This baby boy should be trick-or-treating tonight! Where were his protectors?

My grandmother was an RN in the 30’s. She told me she was surprised so many kids survived their parents and lived to grow up. Sad.
