On a couple of the Corll/Houston Mass Murder threads, they basically shut down any discussion of this image from the trailer, which I find bizarre, they say it's a proven hoax.

To my knowledge, that is not true, it may be contested, but to my knowledge it's not a proven hoax. I still consider that image as I search.
What? That's totally unknown to me. Let me do do some digging.

Edit: Redirect Notice

It was not Henley's trailer but an old schoolbus where his mother kept all his things after his arrest. Police didn't search his belongings. Btw what a shoddy investigation and what a weird storage place.

Of course this picture is real. Why would they think it's a hoax? Because the film maker found it (he went to Henley's mother and she let him rummage)?

Edit 2: apparently his mother claimed it's actually a photo of Ronny Henley. Well, let's dig some more! Btw strange picture to take of somebody!

Thank you for doing that. Some of the cursive writing on the copied part is cut off.

L=Lost Person
J=Juvenile
if "LS" pops up, that is "Last seen"

I am not sure about the numbers, but maybe just the style used by this officer?

Here is what I get from it:

Page 8:

J (something I cannot read) Pat (patrol?) stopped them and asked who the girl was. Jim: "My wife." Jeri hesitated then she mentioned Jay but they didn't ask about him. Yeah they were afraid to take him to Sam's because he looked too young & Sam would know he was a juvenile! on desert-arrived in L.A. Thurs. 12-2 PM

Jim said he was going to California to take a girl with him. Didn't mention my boy. This his father told PERSONAL DATA. PERSONAL DATA paid Jim called him from Saint Louis on Wed 8/9/72 & made the above statement.

I wonder who the photo is of the older man in with the pictures of Jay following his missing report? Is that "Jim"? Or is it a picture of Jay's father to provide an idea of what Jay might look like as an older adult if still out there?

Thanks again for doing this. I will read the rest to make sure there are not more notes in cursive.

Based on what I had read in the typed up document that is a photo of Jays father. I’m not sure why it was included but I imagine it was a mistake as it mentioned his sister had included a photo of their father, mother, herself, two of Jay at the time he went missing, and one of him when he was younger.

Letter from Jay's mother:

11/16/72

Dear Col. Hackaday.

On August 4, 1972, when my son PERSONAL DATA did not return by 7:30 PM I informed Troop C of St Louis County of who he was with a PERSONAL DATA in a red MG Tennessee license & no age 25 years -from Camden, Tenn.
On 9/5/72 I called Troop C to see if they'd found the car or my son & there was no file on him at all. They were given a complete description of "Jay" & all the other information. I went out when they didn't write out a report on him-he is 15 years old-4/17/57
They would not put out an all status bulletin on this man & can. He also had a 14 year-old girl with him. She is back home due to the fact that she called home to see if the F.B.I. was after Jim.

I was informed that if he got into trouble-that they would let me know--or if they found him dead or wounded! I was informed today that he is in trouble by the telephone company-using a fake charge card from L.A. , Calif. operator.

I have never heard from him personally. I have tried desperately to find my son and keep him out of trouble. To come home or find out what kind of environment he is living in-there is no one in the state of Mo. who would help me.

Now what happened when they find my son? Its been and still is sheer hell for me. I have one one son & one daughter. He'd given me only two times a little trouble. God only knows how much the phone bill is-by 10/2/72 she said it was $37+

Will Troop C pay the bill to keep him out of a detention home? If I hadn't tried with everything I know to do to find him, I'd say I was to blame, but who do you turn to when the F.B.I., State Highway Patrol, Jeff. County Police, Juvenile officers, Pros. Attorney, Furtow (?not sure on that word) and Sargeant Slater of L.A. Police force will do nothing to help you? Most parents don't give a damn-I do!

Believe me if he does get into serious trouble, there will be one of the nastiest articles in all the papers I can possibly put it in I got from authorities in the state of Mo. I think people should know they are trusted by these so called law officers for whom we are taxed to pay their salaries. The answer I was given by all was "we have dozens of runaways everyday". He was taken from my yard on 8/4/72 at 12;30 pm and I did all I could. What happens now?

A very broken hearted mother who asked for help and received nothing.

PERSONAL DATA.

I wonder if Jay was truly alive in the autumn of 1972 to commit the fake charge card crime or if that was someone using his identity? It sounds like it was considered something minor, and the phone company contacted his mother thinking she would pay the charges vs a criminal case?

With the white birth mark and Jay looking pretty fair skinned, I go back to the Belle Chasse John Doe since the birthmark could have gone unnoticed. If Jay did not die in California, I wonder if he panhandled and did other stuff and made his way back East?

I wish there was more of a trail regarding that L.A. Times article, statutory rape and murder note as well. Not much to go on for sleuthing purposes with respect to who that might have been about.

I also wonder whatever became of "Sam"? I would hope LE checked out that halfway house? I think that is what a "MA house" is? Hopefully there is some record of it since a sheriff confirmed "Sam" did that for a living? Clearly Jeri did not call "home" to verify her age, so something shady was likely going on....or they were just really lax about who they let stay and/or she called some friend instead of calling her parents.
