Any news updates on this? Has it run on any major networks recently? I've seen back to back coverage on Somer and Morgan on Headline News but nothing about Elizabeth?

Paranoid, oh yes.
I can't check facebook, they have weird search functions, but from what I can find, she doesn't have one of those either.

Hopefully it is because it's getting dark and they don't want searchers out in the woods trampling possible evidence

I think it is due to the infared being used in the search right now. fwiw... I live a few hours away and temperature has dropped a lot in the last two hours... I hope they find her soon!

maybe they don't want folks out @ nite if they're using the thermal imaging radar again...altho I read this a.m. they didn't have much luck with that due to foliage.

I agree that they might be sending people home due to the need for infrared. If they really do think that she just wandered off into the woods, they have a better chance of finding her if they don't have an additional hundred people in the area messing up the scans.

Cell company said they pinged her phone in the middle of the woods, but that's probably where the tower is. I don't think they've actually found the phone. They have also requested her cell phone records.

The tower itself would likely be along the highway area or at most near the edge of the woods....in the middle of the woods is unlikely due to getting large vehicles into the area for either construction of the tower or for any type of maintenance needed. If they have actually identified the ping to be "in the middle of the woods" it would probably have to be triangulated to have been a certain distance from a tower or between two or more towers.

Nursebeeme, I'm semi-local too and it was still fairly warm out when I went to the store just now. But you are right, it's going to get chilly tonight.

I've had the infrared helicopters fly over our house when they were looking for an escapee. They didn't have much luck because of all the the wildlife.

Infrared is also useful for finding buried bodies, as the plants atop and around them radiate more heat and oxygen than surrounding foliage. It takes a sensitive eye, but is done.

Volunteer members of a group searching for 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten said they were told by law enforcement officials that no more people would be sent out to search for the girl. Officials have scheduled a 7 p.m. news conference to discuss the case.
