Sick Puppies played in St Louis on 9/11/09, as did bands called After The Burial, Michelle Shocked, and All Shall Perish. I don't know any of those bands, but the names sound like stuff she might like.

9/11/2009 was a Friday.

We don't know anything about her boyfriend, do we? It's very possible he is 16 and drives.

Good job. Not sure on her boyfriend. I was thinking he was in her grade but he very well could have been 16. Anyone know?

I'm in St. Louis --

First, I don't believe any press article gave a date as to when she snuck off to a concert here -- it just said that she did once. See here:

http://news.aol.com/article/alyssa-bustamante-15-charged-as-adult-in/772912

Second, some dates of recent shows she may have attended:

*Green Day was August 11 of this year
*Pointfest is generally held twice a year, there was one in May and one in August
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointfest
*AFI was November 4, so that's out

Other bands that have been here in the last year or so include Fall Out Boy (several times), My Chemical Romance (May 2008)

To Write Love on her Arms isn't a band, but a non-profit. They recently were honored by MTV:

http://www.twloha.com/

People associated with them travel around the country and speak.

Also, that blogpost linked in the previous post is mine -- and it's just a collection of recent show announcements. Best thing to do to find past shows in the city is to google a band name and "st. louis."

Hope that helps!

I don't know his name or anything about him, except the rumors about him threatening kids at school the week after the murder.

Michelle Shocked is a folksy singer-songwriter who's been around for decades. Her fanbase is more adults.

Sick Puppies does have a younger fanbase -- it's more modern alternative rock.

The other two bands are likely more metal/hardcore. It seemed to me that Alyssa liked mainstream music more -- see my other post about bands in STL.

That post you linked is just the new shows announced in St. Louis in a given week -- not a definitive list of concerts in the city on a particular day. We do this sort of post every Tuesday. :)

Not seeing anything in that time frame listed.

Unless I am going crazy, a possibility, I know I saw that somewhere yesterday that it was 9/12 she snuck off to a concert instead of a church event.

Have you heard anything about the two missing teens in st. louis? They walked away from a children's home. both pretty girls. I think between 12-14 left with a 16 year old, don't know if that was a male or female!

I have been asking people all day and no one knows anything I seen something about it on the news this morning and went to search for it after getting my daughter on the bus and couldn't find ANYTHING. :waitasec:

I have not seen a date for when she snuck off for a concert -- I am not sure how the media would get such specific information -- what I saw mention the concert was a statement from the chief juvenile officer in Cole County, David Cook at her certification hearing , I believe, and it seems doubtful that he would have given specific dates for such a thing

Here is the excerpt:
Yet Bustamante had tried to commit suicide at age 13 and had been receiving mental health treatment for depression and cutting herself, said David Cook, the chief juvenile officer in Cole County. Once, she led her family to believe she was attending a local church event when she instead sneaked off to a concert in St. Louis, about two hours away, Cook said. On one or two other occasions, Bustamante spent the night in the woods without permission, he said.

Does anyone else find it odd that the gps have not made any kind of statement? They are remaining fairly invisible, not even hiring a lawyer for their grandaughter---

It's too bad we don't know someone from the church who knew when the church had a teen retreat or weekend youth event. And check concerts in that timeframe.

Although CCC houses max security I believe that IF IF IF she is sentenced prior to her 18th birthday not only would she HAVE to go to Vandalia first being that it is the Diagnostic Center for ALL female offenders in the state of Missouri. But she would then STAY at Vandalia because they house Min-Max and also certified juveniles.

Although CCC houses max sec. offenders I haven't seen anything about them housing juveniles!

I can't say I find it odd. They have three other kids to take care of and since the gm listened to her confession, I would think they would think hiring a lawyer would be a big expense.

No!
I don't think its odd. I mean think of it this way, they have three other YOUNG children that they have to think of. These kids are going to have to go to school SOMEWHERE one of these days. This grandmother is going to have to go to the grocery store! I can say 100% for sure that if this was my daughter I would not claim her for one moment. I might even go so far as to deny I even know that person! Why because if I have tried that damn hard to get my child help and she insisted on doing something that she so clearly knew was wrong I wouldn't want anything to do with her. I wouldn't love her any less, she is my child. But I don't think I could stand to be around her knowing the actions that she took!

I have turned my back on family in the past for far less than murder!
Yes I am cold hearted but I also have kids that I am responsible for and I don't need the crap in their life!

Yesterday I *thought*(most of yesterday is a blur so I don't remember half of what I read or watched) I heard/read talk about if she was held as a juvenile they would have to rebuild a facility to house her.
Does anyone know what I am taking about?

JMO - I think this is a bit of an exaggeration. While most juvenile facilities are stretched to the max, I know for a fact that there are adjacent counties that have high security areas for juveniles. I've never been there, but I bet Cole County does as well. Assuming there would be a conviction, DYS has facililities for girls that are lock-down.

I also have to add --- many people in Corrections will tell you that working with the lifers is sometimes one of the easiest jobs. Sounds crazy, but its true. Committing murder is the end game in a criminal career and otherwise is often is a one-time act. I have a relative who worked for the DOC for years as a guard, later moving up and she always said the lifers were the easiest and less violent to deal with.

Chances are Alyssa would need lock-down but not "high security."
