I want to reiterate this question for everyone who thinks the host's behavior is "normal". He says he waved them off at 2am before sleeping on the couch and spending the next two days inside the house, not thinking anything of the fact their cars were still outside. All 3 men turn up dead in the FENCED-IN backyard. Theories on that???

IIRC there were 2 cars parked on the street. IF JW saw them, he may have assumed that the third friend drove the other 2 home and they’d be back for their vehicles. Or he didn’t know they were his friends vehicles because they had a huge snow storm that likely obscured the vehicles and he simply didn’t know they were his friends.

I’m trying to understand why there is any speculation that JW did something to his friends. Where is the motive? If he killed them, why not get rid of their bodies, phones, cars, coats, etc? JW being somehow involved is the least likely scenario IMO

Thank you. I agree!
All 3 of them succumbing to hypothermia around the same time in 30 degree weather is far-fetched.
Something incapacitated them at around the same time, then they froze from being so long outside in freezing temps under a slight blanket of snow. The tox report will surely determine which came first. MOO.
I totally agree, and I think the illicit fentanyl epidemic has many people thinking they know more about drugs than they actually do (I say this respectfully and generally, as in across the western world not just across websleuths)

What is really disheartening about this is that a frozen body freezes body functions as well meaning that time of death may very well be difficult if not impossible to determine.

Frozen Body Might Not Solve All Mysteries
The Maricopa County Coroner has said there was no indication of sexual assault nor any sense of when [Denise] Huber was murdered by a series of blows to the head.

“At this point, we don’t when she was killed or where she was killed,” said Laurie Berra, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.

Wecht said coroner’s investigators may be able to determine from the contents of Huber’s stomach if she was killed immediately after she was abducted or died later.

“If they can find out from her family or friends if she ate a certain kind of food at a certain time, say an egg roll,” Wecht said. “If death occurred a short time afterward and she was frozen immediately, the egg roll will still be there.”

[...] it would be difficult to determine whether the body began to decompose before the freezing or during some thawing point--such as when it was moved from one place to another.

@alcaprari23

Just landed in Kansas City. I'm investigating what happened to the three men who mysteriously died in their friend's backyard following Kansas City Chiefs football game. KCPD is not providing many answers as we wait for toxicology reports. Not sure what I'll dig up, but I'm going to try to find some answers.

GOOD! I hope someone finds out some actual information!!

ITA. Some media have turned this case into click-bait. Yes, the families are upset and have made accusatory comments, but the media wasn't forced to print it.

JMO
I have worked at three newspapers. Editors review articles and usually do not print direct accusations from distraught people.

One editor hesitated at an angry statement from a family member and the man she was talking about had been convicted of the crime and was currently in prison. He had been there for about 20 years. (She wasn't the direct victim of the crime, she was not present when it occurred.)

JW could probably sue media outlets for printing direct accusations against him. Family members are in a state of shock. Media outlets are a different story.

Onto another subject concerning JW... I think people think he "missed work" because he said he slept a lot. So, i think some people think he was mostly sleeping which means not working no matter how his work duties might be arranged. I don't know what he was doing (sleeping, working, whatever...)

But, a thing has occurred to me: before all this happened, what were his plans for Monday? (I don't expect an answer to this.) It's possible he planned on taking it easy Monday all along. I mean, idk.

But, i have been thinking about this because i wonder if the guys who died had taken Monday off and that's why they weren't reported missing. We have been told they were up until 2 a.m. A lot of construction work starts early such as about 7 a.m. It seems like Tuesday is the day the families really started looking for them by actually going out looking.

*I saw this article a day or so ago. I‘ll just drop this here. Though not particularly relevant, the article does have some interesting info re:hypothermia.

Doctors say that it is impossible for a completely frozen person to make a recovery. But it is possible for someone who appears frozen — limbs stiff, skin cold and hard, and without a pulse or breath — to be resuscitated, depending on how long the person has been out in the cold.

“If all the tissue in your body is ice, or has ice in it, then you’re not coming back,” said Ken Zafren, a physician and a professor of emergency medicine at Stanford University, who also works in Alaska. But, he added, “I’ve seen plenty of cases in which the person really looked dead, and could come back.”

During hypothermia, an adult’s body temperature can cool well below the normal average of 98.6 degrees, Dr. Zafren said. A person’s pulse and breathing slow significantly, reducing the body’s need for oxygen. Eventually, the person may go into cardiac arrest, stopping the pulse and breathing altogether. But because the brain is cold, the lack of oxygen takes longer to cause damage, he said.

A person could persist in this state for several hours before being completely frozen, he added, noting a medical maxim: “No one is dead until they’re warm and dead.”

But not all emergency medical workers and doctors are familiar with the warming technique, Dr. Brugger said. He cited one case in which a 16-year-old girl found without a pulse after hours in the cold had been declared dead before extracorporeal warming was attempted. “An emergency physician tried to resuscitate on site, but this does not make sense, because if you don’t rewarm the body, you can resuscitate as long as you wish and it’s completely useless,” he added, noting that had the girl’s blood been rewarmed externally, she most likely would have survived.….

“Being mostly dead is being somewhat alive,” Dr. Zafren said. So far, doctors have been unable to pinpoint the precise point of no return, he added. “But what we do know is if you’re dead for too long, you don’t come back.”
Reminds me of this remarkable woman!!!
All Jean Hilliard remembers is blackness, falling asleep, and then waking up. Unbeknownst to her, doctors had declared Hilliard a medical miracle after she recovered from being frozen for six hours in subzero temperatures. Indeed, the baffling case of this “hibernating woman” remains a medical marvel nearly 40 years later.

The left behind jacket... Maybe it was discovered about the time the deceased were discovered. One man is missing a jacket, it's not outside. It's found inside. JW may or may not have been the one to have found it. He did let the police look around.

Starts at the 2:00 mark. Lawyer saying JW has RoboCop on his phone. 8 calls got flagged I guess as not known, so bad and not put through I guess. Is that how RoboCop works?

I just now watched this for the first time and must share something VERY IMPORTANT:
How he describes Robokiller working is not how it works.

"The only calls that came in were one from his dad, and the other calls - there were 8 of them - they came in from a dummy number. When calls come in and they're unrecognized, they come in as this dummy number. The only other call that came in was from a number that was all 000s."

It doesn't just block any random number from reaching you, first of all. If a number is a "normal number" it is not blocked from reaching you. More on that below.

Second, any number identified as spam, it stops from reaching you entirely.

A spammer or scammer places an incoming call to you, and Robokiller intercepts it.

We check our massive database of phone scam callers for any record of the number calling you.

If it’s recognized as a known scammer, we block the call so it never reaches you.

If there’s no record, we analyze the metadata of the phone call to determine if it’s likely spam.

Should it meet our spam criteria, we’ll block the call and ask for your feedback.

If the call metadata seems safe and you’ve enabled call screening, Robokiller will screen the call and ask the caller to identify themselves.

You’ll get a real-time transcription of this interaction and can decide whether you want to answer.

Snipped by me for focus

"Most street drugs would leave paraphernelia/bags etc nearby and LE seems to be signalling there's no sign of that."

To be fair, there were two whole days for someone, if they so desired, to pick up anything left outside and dispose of

I want to reiterate this question for everyone who thinks the host's behavior is "normal". He says he waved them off at 2am before sleeping on the couch and spending the next two days inside the house, not thinking anything of the fact their cars were still outside. My theory: They all took the same drug/poison at the same time. He passed out inside on the couch and was lethargic for days, eventually recovering. The other three went out for a smoke, passed out there, and froze. Very sad.

I use an app called “Robokiller” on my iPhone. It blocks any caller that is not on my contacts list, callers may leave a voice message, however it is a completely different voice mail box than my standard one. I do not check it on a daily basis.
The reason I use the screening app is that I had a consulting business about 4 years ago and I used my cell number for my business. When I dissolved my business I started getting a ton of spam calls trying to sell me things (goods, services etc) for my now defunct business.
As it turns out when I tried to register for the government do not call list, if you have or had a business linked to your phone number you cannot be put on the “do not call list for spam”.
Hence I researched apps and pay a yearly fee for the service, it works really good.
However sometimes weeks go by without me checking.
Perhaps JW used as a similar blocking service as he ran his own business, jmo.
First bold: It doesn't block any caller not on your contact list, it will SCREEN those calls. So you get a pop-up of what words they say after Robokiller asks the caller to identify themselves. If you either quickly or slowly ignore the call using the side button or what have you, it will send them to voicemail.

Second bold: Good to know!!!!

This is what the media does though. They literally get paid to do it. Be it about an accusation or, an occurrence at an event, political stuff, or some other kind of story. Plain and simple any person writing an article or creating a video or going on TV -media- is telling the world what someone else said - unless they are showing you only proof of said 'ground zero' person saying it or video proof of what happened.. and not adding any other comments, thoughts, or questions. The hard part is many times with things involving police/criminal activity the police can't say much. Interview they put out are simply that.. someone close might say what they know, but also they are saying what they think - they were not actually there. This means people will only have comments, thoughts, and questions to go off of or wonder about.
This entire website is even built based around what MSM says. And MSM can be very wrong, they can lead to things being misconstrued, they can mislead people even if unknowingly, they can also outright lie to you - although hopefully for a good reason ***and this has happened, I have personally witnessed it during the hurricane (Harvey) that flooded Galveston County and other surrounding/coastal counties here in Texas in 2017. Media lied to everyone about the severity. - They knew it was going to be bad. My area was in Galveston County, the League City, Webster area, so you can say Houston at the time. No evacuation media lied (because they knew better) and said it was fine. While I know a person, and got the inside to the discussions happening at the news station about this. (So I know they knew) However, they actually saved lives by doing that. More people have died trying to evacuate and during evacuation. Hurricane Katrina that didn't even hit the area after all.. somewhere around 1300 deaths occurred and most of them were during or due to evacuation. But Harvey, less than 70 deaths.**
The media has the greatest influence.

That being said, it is hard to avoid even outside of the media, and people will always talk, that won't change. And lives have been ruined the same way outside of the media as well. But the media being what it is creates a MUCH larger impact. So I agree, they absolutely should be much more careful as their words reach further and masses react to what they say.

I know off topic a little, but hopefully the experience is applicable enough to warrant its sharing with you guys here.

I think we need more information (like the autopsy findings) to have a theory on why the men are dead. But so far as "not thinking anything of the fact their cars were still outside..." I don't know whose cars are now parked on the street where I live. That's just not something I pay careful attention to. If I had had guests, and I had walked them to the door and said good night, I wouldn't later check to be sure their cars weren't on still on the street. I just wouldn't. IF their cars had been parked in my driveway, the next day I would have noticed they were still there unless I didn't go out and was hunkered down inside for some reason. (And I certainly do think a person could do that and it not be odd.) But in this case, it sounds like only 2 of the 3 men drove and they both parked on the street. IF JW had no reason to think the men had not left, it makes perfect sense to me the cars on the street weren't noticed.

I guess I don't understand why this is important. He was at home. He may or may not have been working with headphones/white noise/fan/space heater. He may or may not have been sick/hungover with earbuds. He may have mostly been in his room doing a combination of running scripts and dozing (both of the above) and may have wandered out to the kitchen to get food.
He apparently didn't peer out of the windows looking for his friends in any of those cases. Most (all?) of us would not.
Why does it matter so much? I'm missing something.
Probably because he and his lawyer said he was sleeping for 48 straight hours. Then the lawyer said he "came and went". THEN the lawyer said he "only went in and out of the bedroom" as in to get water & go back to sleep or whatever. So it matters immensely if he was up, awake, and working. He would have zero reason to ignore family and friends searching for these 3 men.

I've noticed, the families and especially the media stating JW did not work for two days. JWs attorney has clarified, he slept most of Mon, worked Mon evening and Tues.

I'm very confident JWs computer will reflect this statement. I don't believe his attorney would make this statement without proof of computer history. Our computers track everything we do.

The phone saga has grown legs, mo. In initial articles, the fiance was quoted, she Facebook Messenger JW. The media has embellished this to text messages, emails and phone calls.

What frustrates me the most....
All the experienced, expert, former FBI/LE conducting interviews fail to ask investigative questions.
Why did NO family or employer report the men as missing?

Is this unusual behavior?
Has LE discussed a preliminary COD?

All MOO
Emphasis mine.

Black bolded :They might be asking questions that we're not privy to ?
And maybe LE know more than they're revealing.
Aside from the devastated families needing answers, my guess is LE aren't saying much even to them, in case it leaks out ?
The atty. for the host seems to have muddied the waters and IMO is doing his client a disservice.

Red bolded: Idk. It would appear it took a while, but again if this was usual for them to be gone for a few ....
Omo.

He claims he said goodbye to his friends - two of whom he'd known since high school - then 'crashed' on the couch.

A short time later, he says he went upstairs to bed, leaving the doors unlocked. The three men, he says, then returned to the property and at some stage, went outside.

That just does not make any sense to me at all. For instance, victim DH lived only a mile away. The men had wallets and phones. If they felt unsafe to drive, they could've ubered. They all 3 had girlfriends waiting at home for them, expecting them home, and all 3 men's families have repeated time and time again they were responsible men. Why would they go back inside JW's house, into his freezing backyard, and die? It makes zero sense.

Good point.

Graphic post :

Does anyone know if the coroner could determine a time of death based on the temp. of the bodies on the innermost parts like the heart, etc. ?
Omo.
yeah that is a huge issue here - telling time of death from a frozen corpse is not easy. it is in fact extremely difficult and sometimes impossible

This may be the confusion some have, JW was a researcher, he would not have an employer. Think along the lines of self employed. Many researchers receive grants and have other avenues of income.
Despite JW's name being mentioned in mainstream media news I do not believe we can mention his full name here but if you google him along with his career choice and area of study it is easy to find who he works for. Many researchers do indeed have employers.

What, do you have a link for that? I have not seen that yet. If that is the case, that makes things even stranger. He got up and was working so I assume he used the bathroom & ate food also but didn't see 3 dead friends or their cars and didn't answer his door for the multiple family and friends who came and knocked politely then desperately on it. Weird, weird, weird.

It's really difficult to take this woman seriously, imo, because she's desperate not to have her boyfriend described in an unflattering light. She's hurting and she's lashing out. She talks about 'they'. "they' are talking about JW giving them drugs. 'they' talk about DH being a drug addict which she assures us he was not. 'they' say terrible things about JW. Everything is ephemeral, there is no basis of fact in any thing she says so she is clutching at straws because that's the only thing she has to go on right now in her despair and loss.

I don't blame her for not wanting people to paint DH as a drug addict, but you don't need to be a drug addict to have a fatal run-in with a drug. I would say many people who are dying of overdoses are not long term users, they are just random hapless victims. She is just regurgitating all the chatter she is hearing whether it's online, from strangers like us, to people she knows and everyone else who offers their opinion.

Unfortunately, opinions are all we have right now so she sifts through the ones that are bearable for her, that exonerate her loved one and latches on to those that assign blame elsewhere. We would probably all do the same thing.
So, it's hard to take any of the family members seriously then? You believe the people who knew these men best wouldn't have any insight into this situation? Someone being in denial in the face of facts is one thing, but they do not "have the facts" yet nor do we. All we have is the police saying "yep no worries thanks!" and the host of the party changing his story a whole lot....

I have an issue with the fact that this group of guys have/had been friends for almost 20 years. Neighborhood/went to school together, home renter/scientist had them over for football game.

Some ppl change after school but friends are friends. The three that past/died were close friends with the home renter who is a scientist working from home on HIV. Not sure how long he had been there renting that house. I truly don’t think he has anything to do with his friends death.

Some ppl have different “groups” of friends.

Jmo
People get married and have kids with people and murder their spouses. Some people murder their kids. Murdering friends wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Victim DH's girlfriend of 17 years says he actually did not know JW very well, but the other 2 victims did and went to highschool with JW. JW moved away for college + years after and only moved back recently (last few years).
