The mayor of #Ferguson earlier today told me police don't want to escalate any situations and plan to try to keep all interactions calm.

Two weeks before the MB shooting, the black St. Louis police officers group, Ethical Society of Police, wrote a letter describing numerous supposed failures of St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson. This may explain why we've heard relatively little from or about Dotson regarding the MB shooting or the protests that followed. Dotson publicly disagreed with some of StLCPD Chief Belmar's early decisions and removed city police from action at the height of the most violent protests.

Coincidentally, the letter writer/President of the ESOP is named Darren Wilson.

i wonder how the city cops feel - seems political imo - if they send officers to help ferguson - then - quote from article:

Kennedy wrote: “The possibility of having St. Louis Police Department personnel present with the Ferguson Police in what appears to be a racially-charged and possibly discriminating environment could make it appear that the St. Louis Police Department supports racial discrimination and disenfranchisement.”

Dotson’s response: “I agree and removed our tactical assistance

oops - didn't see the 1st link. for those keeping track of statistics (quote from 1st link)

As the forum evolved, the focus shifted to a recent objectionable promotion exam where only one African-American sergeant out of 72 candidates is barely qualified to be a lieutenant.

I wonder why the promotion exam is 'objectionable?'

I don't feel too bad about getting just over half of the 15 questions correct. Took 2 criminal justice classes back in college and have spent a good bit of time listening to our local PD scanner.

I just took the sample test. I would not have gotten a promotion. But if I studied for the test, and maybe took lots of practice tests, I could probably improve greatly. It is a hard test in that there are judgment calls which are based upon experience in the job. There were always 2 answers which seemed perfectly correct to me. lol

Just getting here, what's going on in Ferguson? I'm reading off these posts that they disrupted the StL Symphony? :gaah:

Listening to Miss Bella and I'm wondering if they're listening to police scanners and following all the calls to record everytime the police sneeze. She's asking for a police name and number of all the officers that stopped a car of what looks like 4 guys.
