I have a basketball hoop set up so my kid can shoot baskets in the street. He walks in the street. He runs in the street. He rides his bike in the street. He rides his scooter in the street. He plays catch in the street. If a cop came by and told him to "Get the Fu** out of the street!" I would be pretty pissed off that the cop spoke to my kid like that. I can't say that I would have gone down to city hall to file a complaint, but yes, not only would I think the cop was being disrespectful to my kid but was abusing the power that comes with a badge. I would suggest that that cop needed classes on how to interact with citizens. I would suggest that he is not acting in a manner that is consistent with how I would like to see our civil servants acting.

Thank you for that post.

I always felt someone in authority like LE need to hold themselves at a higher standard then civilians. One leads by example..

I read from the witness DJ that he was shot in the back. Then as the officer emptied his weapon, he was also shot in the head. They have not released how many times this officer shot Mike Brown, his mother claimed she was told 8 times. Now, if someone is putting their hands up, getting down on his knees, why the need to empty his weapon and kill this young man? He should've arrested him and take him into custody. I still dont' understand why walking in the street made this officer so damn angry and aggressive in the first place..

i imagine the anger came from feeling disrespected that they didnt immediately obey his order, and is a product of the climate or culture of the situation.

it sounds to me like the second shot is in the back too, that one is going to be hard to explain if it is true.

that is why they arent releasing those details from the autopsy even tho they are known right now. the number of times he was shot and whether or not he was shot in the back could certainly inflame the public situation. they rightfully would want to be able to try to put some context on those details upon release if possible.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that there is a full and thorough investigation. I don't know the full story. I'm not ready to jump on any band wagon yet.

Uhhh...really?

Good luck with that.

I've already had luck with that. As I told upthread...

As soon as I asked that officer to call his supervisor, wanted his name and badge number, he walked away from me..

No one can approach me with what the f are you doing. no one...not even an officer of the law. I do know my rights, too bad kids today don't.

Haven't confirmed it but hearing Ferguson or someone (maybe STL County PD) will have a press conference on the case at 3. Also hearing that the body has been released to family and they're having an independent autopsy or examination performed. Also hearing officer has retained counsel (no surprise and should have from the get go).

While not releasing how many times he was shot, LE did confirm it was more than just a couple times.

There was no video cam footage taken from the car, or from nearby security videotapes according to one article. It's still up in the air whether the rumor of a girl with video on her phone that was confiscated.

Cars not equipped with them.

The Chief has them still in boxes, never equipped the vehicles with them..

I think all should wear body cameras, it would exonerate or implicate...the officer or the civilian..

He was shot in the back, according to the friend (witness) whom he was with during the incident: After he was shot the first time, he turned and ran..and was shot a 2nd time, in the back while running. He then he fell down, turned around and got up with his hands in the air. at this point, the cop pumped more bullets into him.

Do you have a link for this, please? This is the first I've seen of the claim he was shot in the back.

Antonio French ?@AntonioFrench 2h
One pattern of the last few days: After police move the media out of the area, they become more heavy-handed and violent. #Ferguson

Observation by alderman French.

Also, Anonymous has apparently released what they say are audio of the various calls. I can't listen here right now so haven't pulled it up. Thought I'd pass it along for those that might be interested in seeing if there's any legitimacy to it.
