BBM (not hard to find-- it's the top story on MSN.com)

http://news.msn.com/us/protests-turn-violent-in-st-louis-suburb

At least one officer was seriously hurt-- broken ankle from a brick being hurled. Taken to the hospital.

These are not "protests". These are riots by thieves, thugs, and criminals. They all belong in jail, IMO.

"got a link for police vehicles being burned?"
oh sorry i must not have been clear, i was looking for a source for police vehicles being burned, thanx in advance if you can provide one.

FERGUSON, Mo. – Among the 16 people arrested Wednesday night in Ferguson was a local filmmaker who was in the area to document the unrest.

Ryan Frank told NewsChannel 5's Ryan Dean he was taken into custody for failure to obey a lawful order and for a noise violation. He says he feels his right to assembly and freedom of speech was violated by the arrest.

Frank says he was documenting a group of about 100 people who were protesting outside the Ferguson Police Department Wednesday night. He called the protesters "spirited," but not unruly.

According to Frank, the SWAT team rolled up during the protest and put placed barricades in the streets.

"The pointed guns at us," said Frank.

He says the officers outnumbered the protesters, and they yelled at everyone to leave. He says most people did leave, but he felt it was his right to observe the events because he wasn't breaking the law.

Frank says he sat down on the sidewalk to observe the scene, saying he felt it was his right to do so because he wasn't breaking any laws.

He says he was getting up to leave when officers took him into custody.

What in their mind constitutes "unlawful assembly"? That's disconcerting.

Riot behavior changes "lawful assembly" into "unlawful assembly". Bottle rockets, Molotov cocktails, throwing bricks, damaging property, looting, hurting and attempting to kill other people, blocking public roads, etc. These are most definitely NOT law abiding citizens staging a "peaceful protest." They all belong in jail.

Media, IMO, needs to immediately stop referring to this "crowd behavior" as a protest. It meets every definition of riot. The heavily armed and armored riot police would not even be there if there was not a riot, or imminent riot. Sheesh. SMH.

Problem with that is those reporters detained were not rioting...those are others from different counties causing havoc and destruction. Those who want justice for Mike Brown are doing it peacefully...at least that's what I take away from the reporters accounts..

I'll try to find out if the McDonald's manager wanted the store closed. That McDonalds if it's the one I think it is in or near the same strip shopping center as the Wal-Mart where I used to work. It was a lunch stop for us from time to time, though I liked the Sam's and the Steak 'N Shake better! If I'd been on duty at the Wal-Mart and the police asked me to close it down I would have immediately gotten on the PA and said "We're sorry, we have a power problem and have to close, please leave your carts and exit the store" (that's what we were supposed to say if we had to close the store unexpectedly due to bomb threat, storm or whatever) then I would have asked questions later after I had gotten everyone out, which would take awhile. I would have known they wouldn't have asked me that without a good reason. They wouldn't need to tell me, asking would be sufficient. Like I said earlier, I had lots of encounters with the Ferguson Police while I was there and I knew their primary interest as well as mine was keeping everyone in the store alive and well. When I needed them they were there, for example one of the cashiers was being stalked by her former boyfriend and that was beyond my ability to deal with properly so I called them and met with the associate and the officer to work out a plan of what to do and I wrote a memo for the other mangers so they'd know about it. When someone masturbated naked in the parking lot, they were there. When a customer thought her child was abducted, they were there. The Wal-Mart home office would not have questioned what I did if the police told me to do it. Whether it was right or wrong, I'd have let the home office and police sort that out later. You don't screw with the police, especially when you have to call them almost every day.

Oh good does this mean they are going to bring in the National Guard like they usually do in cases like this?

I sense this is ending. As much as reporters want to keep it all fluffed up, if everyone went back to their normal daily routine and stopped reporting from there, it would be over. Or anyway that's what it feels like to me. The crowd seemed small last night, despite the cocktail and brick throwing. I'm sensing it's waning.

i guess if you are in a city/area where a riot has recently occurred you lose all your rights... wait, what?

No, where a riot IS occurring. Rights can be temporarily suspended in a crisis, liljim. Look at what happens in a hurricane when people aren't allowed to go home for a period of time.

yeah there was no riot when this happened, no curfew declared, no statement of any suspension of normal rights...

once again - their own police chief stated that they didnt know what they were doing...

multiple witnesses state that police said they were clearing the building because there was a protest down the street, not riot. not emergency declaration or any other thing.

in fact, just 30 seconds earlier they were NOT clearing the building, just warning people they were on their own and they should probably go home.

you can keep repeating it but there is ZERO evidence that the mcdonalds owners or management wanted the place cleared or called police - there IS evidence from police statements and witness statements that they went there of their own volition because there was "a protest down the street"...

initially they were not even going to clear people out and they left, they just told them they should leave because police could not protect them and if they called 911 they would get no help, then they came back again without being requested to do so by anyone that we know of, and told everyone to leave immediately.

I corrected my prior post when I said LE had their vehicles 'burned.'

I have now inserted the proper word 'damaged' in that post. Sorry, but either way it is senseless violence.

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson said that at least 20 police cars were damaged and that the use of tear gas was a high possibility.

I'm guessing it's the National Guard. I HOPE so. Two dozen police cars destroyed?? Every tax paying citizen will be paying for that.

They NEED the National Guard, IMO. It's the only thing that might persuade the rioters to stay away. I am perfectly fine with martial law in these circumstances. This is not a "group" (the rioters) who respond positively to dialogue and diplomacy, lol! I cannot believe some are defending these criminals! Who wants a riot in their town or neighborhood?? Declare martial law, implement a curfew, and arrest anyone who is in violation. Get the situation under control now, before more are killed or hurt, or more public and private property is destroyed.

The REAL peaceful protestors should be hosted somewhere safe. I wonder why a large local church hasn't stepped forward to host them? How about a public park? Grounds of the government buildings? Anyplace other than a residential neighborhood. The riots aren't fair to the peaceful, law abiding citizens and business owners. The Governor and LE have a responsibility to THOSE law abiding citizens, too. They need protection from the criminals and rioters.

'...it appears that their release followed a call from a concerned Los Angeles Times journalist, Matt Pearce, to Ferguson's police chief.'

'Pearce said on Twitter that when he informed the chief, Thomas Jackson, about the arrests of the Washington Post's Wesley Lowery and Huffington Post's Ryan Reilly, he replied: "Oh God." '

'Pearce said Jackson told him he ordered the riot command officers to free the reporters. He said the arrests had "probably" been made "by somebody who didn't know better". '

A little confused why the LA Times seemed to have more pull than the Washington Post which employs Lowery? Or had the WA Post not contacted the chief? Strange. Also seems strange chief didn't seem to know journalists were arrested until a reporter called and told him.

Those they targeted were not the ones rioting. So if some riot everyone looses their civil rights. The Al Jazera reporters were just standing there recording, Feruguson SWAT removed them then started to dismantle their cameras. This is a violation of civil rights, plain and simple

A weather emergency is being compared to an injustice occurring. IDK

I wonder if the "Oh God" was accompanied by a rolling of the eyes. Like oh brother, here we go again. Game on.

The reporter that I just saw on CNN was not AA/ And he was not really arrested. He was detained and then released, with no charges. Originally he was told he was 'trespassing' in the McDonalds so that seems like MCD's did want the people to leave. They were likely afraid of what a rioting crowd might do if they came that way.

He was arrested. Others in the media immediately contacted LE chief, asking him what in the hell he was doing? Chief was in disbelief and said he would call and instruct to release them.
