I respectfully disagree. What they have done by releasing the officer's name is to now put his life and safety in danger. If he is married and has a wife and children they have also put their lives in danger as well. It will be another issue police will have to deal with upon all the other unrest in the city.

In most states there are laws to protect police officers' names from being released if it can be shown by releasing it .......it can endanger the life of the police officer or his family. I think it has certainly been proven that some up there are very violent. They are going to release his address too.:(

This officer has not been charged or arrested. We don't even know his side of the story completely. It is a dangerous game that Anonymous is playing with someone's life.

I use to like Anonymous but I have since learned it is several in the group and most are liberals and only picks certain cases based on their own agendas. They have lost all of my respect in this case. They are doing nothing helpful. They, right along with the media are inciting instead of trying to calm the city down where they can be patient for the FBI and DOJ investigation to be done.

Even putting out the PC......SS# shows how reckless and dangerous they are and how they want to hurt those who didn't even shoot Michael. I now found them disgusting.

I certainly hope they have this police officer in a very good hiding place alone with his family. That is just wrong releasing that info.

Thanks for you post, I agree so much with everything said !

Those they targeted were not the ones rioting. So if some riot everyone looses their civil rights. The Al Jazera reporters were just standing there recording, Feruguson SWAT removed them then started to dismantle their cameras. This is a violation of civil rights, plain and simple

A weather emergency is being compared to an injustice occurring. IDK

I really don't understand people who don't get the gravity of crowd violence. There's kind of this belief that it's okay for reporters to stand there flat footed when violence is going on around them, and think they don't have to obey cops orders to disperse. You can find countless media video from inside the riots, bricks and fireballs being thrown. Disperse, for crying out loud. Get a move on, get out of here.

I wonder what the reporters would be thinking if one of them were killed by a flying brick.

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A Missouri State Senator said she was hit with tear gas while protesting in Ferguson.

State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal said she is angry at the military style force police are using to control crowds. The 14th district representative said she is outraged and offended by the aggression police are using toward protesters.

Chappelle-Nadal said she and 150 young protesters were hit with tear gas during a peaceful protest Monday night. She is calling out Missouri Highway Patrol.

“[Protesters] have every right to assemble freely and express themselves and not have tear gas thrown at them. By the way, tear gas was thrown on me and we could not breathe,” said Chappelle-Nadal. “I approve their budget, so you know that I’m pissed off.”

Please do not make sweeping generalizations about race...please alert any posts in which these type of sentiments are expressed... keep your comments specific to the information in MSM and opening post...

st louis PD denies that it is the officer, not sure if they would lie in order to protect him knowing that later they could cause more problems for themselves for lying about the identity of the officer involved.

im prone to think that anonymous got it wrong. good reason why they shouldnt be releasing names, you dont have to like the fact that they have delayed release of the name, i dont fully agree with it, but this approach is certainly likely to just cause further problems and not lead to any solutions.

I get it, I do..but the ones they targeted were not the ones rioting..go get those who are. Not pick on a peaceful protest. As I said never knew there was a curfew instilled that no one can peacefully protest after dusk...SMH

I corrected my prior post when I said LE had their vehicles 'burned.'

I have now inserted the proper word 'damaged' in that post. Sorry, but either way it is senseless violence.

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson said that at least 20 police cars were damaged and that the use of tear gas was a high possibility.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/10/justice/missouri-police-involved-shooting/index.html

Just a point of clarification-- the police squad cars were described as "destroyed". Apparently not just a few scratches or dings. Link in my post 501 above.

It's not worth quibbling over words. This is full blown riot behavior, by any definition. The rioters destroyed a very significant number of police vehicles. That is serious. And criminal behavior.

And the New Black Panthers are there, and encouraging more violence, per the FBI. Nice "leadership". What next-- putting out bounties for murder, like they have done before? Despicable.

Thank you.

It is just adding more fuel to an already raging fire, imo, and it is not only very dangerous but just wasn't necessary. The only ones that need to know his name is the FBI and DOJ who are conducting the investigation.

This man has now been driven from his home and if he has a family too they have had to flee with him. By releasing his address they have now put a target out on him. His home will be swamped with these faux reporters who pretend to care about MB when they don't. The protestors will line up now in front of his home. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that a Molotov cocktail is thrown and his home burned down.

I cant understand anyone being happy that his name and address is out there unless they are hoping something bad happens to him and his family.

IMO

Oh good does this mean they are going to bring in the National Guard like they usually do in cases like this?

Hopefully so. The Governor's statement released yesterday was actually very critical of how St. Louis County and Ferguson PD have trampled citizen's constitutional rights. And that was before last night happened.

St. Louis County PD (@stlcountypd) tweeted at 4:48pm - 14 Aug 14:

@TheAnonMessage We already have. You may have missed the message. Bryan P. Willman is not even an officer with St. Louis County or Ferguson. (https://twitter.com/stlcountypd/status/499930527931961344)

https://mobile.twitter.com/stlcountypd

Well they have now made another victim in this case. Mr. Willman will have to flee for his life because many don't even read the police site. They will hear his name through gossip mongering and that will be all that is necessary to hound this man. This has happened before in other cases just because someone else had the same name. Ugh.

What a hot mess this has become.

I pray they are giving Mr. Willman and his family full protection anyway.

If this is true and I do believe it is they have just taken down Anonymous a peg or two. LOLOL!

Where has this alderman been all his life? Does he not know that it's actually a crime to defy a lawful peace officer's order? Yes, sir, you were indeed arrested for "not listening". And mercifully you aren't being charged with a crime and are now, in the light of day, free to go. What would that situation look like if everyone decided they didn't have to listen to cops?

http://fox2now.com/2014/08/14/alderman-antonio-french-among-those-arrested-in-ferguson-overnight/

I am really trying to hold back my true feelings about these comments. With all due respect JeannaT, and I can be wrong about this and if I am, I truly apologize because I am not doing the typical link it up that we do here at WS because this is happening in my backyard, but first and foremost, no. you don't have to listen to a police officer. You only have to listen to a police officer's LAWFUL order. If a police officer tells you to put your finger in your ear, you don't get arrested when you refuse to do it, or at least you're not supposed to. I don't know if you are aware that there were essentially 2 different protests going on from my understanding. The one most of us saw and was live streamed. A second, much more peaceful protest on the sidewalks at the police station or city hall or whatever. Nothing thrown, nothing burned at that protest. Police saw fit to break it up, which they have no authority to do, and tear gassed them. French is then pulled out of his car and arrested for not obeying a LAWFUL order. I trust, that of all the protester's there, French is the most civil and also the most aware of his constitutional rights. If I am wrong with any of those facts, I apologize, but that is my understanding and that is police acting with impunity.

I'm guessing it's the National Guard. I HOPE so. Two dozen police cars destroyed?? Every tax paying citizen will be paying for that.

They NEED the National Guard, IMO. It's the only thing that might persuade the rioters to stay away. I am perfectly fine with martial law in these circumstances. This is not a "group" (the rioters) who respond positively to dialogue and diplomacy, lol! I cannot believe some are defending these criminals! Who wants a riot in their town or neighborhood?? Declare martial law, implement a curfew, and arrest anyone who is in violation. Get the situation under control now, before more are killed or hurt, or more public and private property is destroyed.

The REAL peaceful protestors should be hosted somewhere safe. I wonder why a large local church hasn't stepped forward to host them? How about a public park? Grounds of the government buildings? Anyplace other than a residential neighborhood. The riots aren't fair to the peaceful, law abiding citizens and business owners. The Governor and LE have a responsibility to THOSE law abiding citizens, too. They need protection from the criminals and rioters.

You don't have a firm grasp on the culture and climate here I don't believe. As always, I can be and have been wrong, but I would put money on it that the National Guard would not come in with even half the military presence that our local cops decided to show. The Governor has been critical of how LE has handled this situation.

ETA - And the real peaceful protesters were on the grounds of a public building and were tear gassed and arrested.

This so called protest is nothing more than criminals taking an opportunity wreak havoc; it is unacceptable --- and by whatever means necessary the police must gain control - the behavior is outrageous.

It was for their own safety, a tear gas can rolled right at their feet. They showed that on the news last night. Do you think the police want reporters getting tear-gassed? Even if the reporters want to be tear-gassed? How do they know it's not a Molotov Cockatail next?

I admittedly haven't tried to look and not even sure I would know how and I don't even know that it matters at the end of the day, but what I've been told and would really like to know for whatever reason:

A molatov cocktail was thrown. No question. In the ustream from earlier that evening (I think after the protesters were pushed back and coralled) a guy got on the mic or was interviewed or whatever you want to call it because I have a hard time calling that guy a reporter. Anyways, I've been told that this guy that says he came down from Chicago looks a lot like the guy seen holding the Molatov cocktail. Any way of going back and I don't know...do screenshots or determine if this is in fact the same guy? The person that said they thought it might be the same guy was going off of memory of what they were wearing but we all know how memories can be. TIA on any advice or if you can do it.
