Those who are fine with the cops executing folks who have neither been tried nor charged - will you feel differently when they are doing the same thing to white suspects? Use of excessive force has been going on for YEARS against people, especially men, of color. Thanks to recordings, it gets more attention now.

But excessive force happens against whites too. And it will happen more and more because people turned their heads and said they're okay with it when it was mostly just black guys on the receiving end.

My prediction: when an unarmed white person is executed by police, we will suddenly hear much more about how police have too much power, they're out of control, we have rights in this country, etc.

I am sure that a white person has already been shot by a cop for resisting arrest. Probably a lot of them.

True. What I am curious is about how this all went down when the officer approached the suspects. That is what matters to me at this point.

I have an issue with suspects being shot in the back and while surrendering. So that is what I need to get to at this point.

I'm not sure what exactly went down BUT if the autopsy shows he has a shot to the back, it may have happened in the police car when the shot was fired while grappling for the officers gun. Notice the words may have

UMMM Why wasn't Dorian Johnson taken in for questioning after he was identifiable from press interviews, and was suspected to be an accomplice in the strong-arm cigar robbery? That could have happened long before the protesting turned ugly and the looting began?? NO LE spoke with him for something like 4 or 5 days iirc. JMO

This reminds me of what happened after the Trayvon Martin shooting. You'd think the media would learn.

This time I don't think it is the media that is the problem It is the police Dept. They could have handled this correctly and swiftly and this would not even be news.
In Philly when a cop shoots someone in the commission of a crime it is reported. They don't have a dead suspect and not disclose what happened in its entirety. It is on the news that night..
A suspect was shot and killed after being stopped by police when he attempted to assault officer.


Simple and direct.

The powers that be made this problem. Not the press. IMO

you can't just go shooting people because you think they MAY be armed. These pics haven't changed a thing. It was still an unarmed teen, shot in the back while fleeing. It doesn't matter what he was doing before the cops even came across him

I don't know what happened between the officer and the young man. What I do know is that the police dept is responsible for the aftermath. Refusing to divulge any information makes a reasonable person doubt them. They went all para-military on the civilians of Ferguson. That is shameful for any police dept. It was like the dept was trying to make things worse, trying to dominate the civilians instead of protect and serve. There were videos of police screaming at the protesters, calling them animals. Then the police started running off the media as if they wanted to hide their actions.
I understand why the people distrust their police and I don't blame them in the least.

The way I see it, if the witness lied about this, then what else is he lying about?

He said they weren't doing nothing but jaywalking. And the cop told them to 'get out of the effin street.' Looks like that was a lie.

And if MB would punch a clerk in an attempted robbery, how do we know he wouldn't punch a cop too? Especially if the cop had probable cause to stop them.

The problem is he is not the only witness. There are 3 witnesses. And they all reported the same thing. Why didn't they arrest Dorian that day?! Why is he walking around free and on the news if there was a crime like this?

Im sorry. Something stinks in this case and it was all made worse by the govt.

I do believe our country is becoming the wild wild west again. Good law abiding citizens are at war with the thugs and criminals that reek havoc here. Everyday we are seeing the lawless who are robbing businesses, murdering, and raping innocent people in home invasions, and gangs who now drive by in vehicles instead of riding horses.... who are mowing down innocent people/children down who are inside their own homes trying to survive the mayhem in their neighborhoods. We have shootouts in the streets between gang members just like we use to see in the wild west days with the lawless gunslingers.

It really is no different today than it was during the wild west when gangs came into homes, and raped and murdered innocent families just because they could. Or pilfered/looted businesses and homes and took what wasn't theirs to take simply because they could.

I now believe that MB did assault this officer and tried to take his gun away from him and in the struggle MB was grazed, imo and then tried to run from the police. He had to know the little guy at the convenience story had called the police when the officer stopped them, imo.

As far as the real truth why he fired several times that has not been fully told. YET!

I agree with everything you said, except the bolded part. We are not becoming the wild, wild west again, we are becoming a third world country, ruled by the same violence you see there. We were better than that, we were a nation of greatness until people refused to assimilate, refused to obey the rules of this country.

I'm aging, and I'm glad I won't be around to see the horrors in store for us when the crap, that is now being allowed, really hits the fan.

For Me? I don't care if he stole cigars and candy. I don't even care if he punched the clerk, that does not give the right for a cop to shoot an unarmed person in the street. Once Michael was away from the car he was not a risk. There was no reason to shoot him dead in the street.

So for me, Even if he was the perp, Even if he robbed and punched the clerk, The cop still was in the wrong.

I would like to know where the friend is in the video. Do they show Dorian in there with him???

Thank goodness it doesn't happen in my area but since I have been a member of MBs for over 20 years now I read constantly. I watch the news, read online, and don't live my life in a cave. Everyone knows the things I have listed is happening all across the country. Look at how many shootings Chicago has had in just one weekend?

We live in a very violent society with violent crime happening everyday to innocent law abiding people. Try convincing the mother of a child who was killed as they slept in their own home by a drive by shooter that crime isn't a big deal and is declining. Stats don't mean diddly squat when it comes to the victims who have suffered such violence. Victims aren't statistical numbers........they are human beings.

There are still over 14K+ people murdered in our country even with the decline. And that does not include the rapes, armed robberies, attempted murders, nor life long injuries victims have received from their perpetrators.

Our country has nothing to brag about when it comes to violent crimes.

I'm glad that the area you live in isn't ravaged by crime - unfortunately, it's not just in the inner city, anymore. Although it hasn't spread to where I live - I moved out of the 'hood as soon as I was financially able to - it breaks my heart to see those I grew up with, trying to raise their children on a block that USED to be safe, and now has a shooting per weekend.

In the 'burbs. It's called Maywood, and it's colloquially referred to as 'murderwood.' It's in the 'burbs. This epidemic is spreading, and it's not solely in Chicago. It is spreading across the US, and it's heartbreaking. Time for a change, IMO: Way past time for a change.

I'm worried for the town of Ferguson, and I hope that things are able to simmer down from this point on. I think complete and utter transparency with the investigation is necessary...of course, they can't do it instantly, but as soon as the results are ready they should reveal it.
The build-up isn't necessary, IMO, like they waited to release the strong-arm robbery information. I think it would have been advantageous to release this information prior. JMO

If Michael Brown had allowed himself to be placed under arrest, he would still be here. He was not gunned down for walking in the street. If MB can use force on a store clerk, he could certainly use it against a police officer. That is why we need to let the investigation take its full course.

The QT was not the store that was robbed.

At 11.52am, dispatch gave a description of a robbery suspect over the radio.

A further description, with more details, was given over the radio and stated the suspect was walking towards another convenience store, QuikTrip.

Why should/would they, even if this is not the same store? People complain they have nowhere to buy food, and other stuff, they whine about it, and wonder why. What corporation in their right mind would rebuild there?

I agree. I think the police vastly mishandled the situation, but that occurred AFTER the shooting of the suspect. They should have been transparent about the robbery. Even if it meant appearing to be insensitive to a mother's grief.

I feel really sorry for the officer that has been dragged thru the mud on this. His boss didn't stand up for him and tell exactly what happened right away, IMO, which contributed to the violence, mob justice demands, and riots. Put this man's entire family at risk, as well. This officer is going to be vindicated, IMO. He was doing his job.

I think the biggest problem here is that the police could have handled this whole thing differently and BETTER.

Even not releasing the officers name they could have given real and true facts and info about the robbery and that there was video of the suspect on tape and stills and that This person was stopped because of that robbery and resisted arrest.

That would have put a damper on the whole thing from the beginning.

But they were too silent, too long.

I am waiting for Autopsy report to make any more conclusions.
